Playing games in 4k on TV and quickly edit videos ect also means my old dock has moved to my upstairs pc and now I have a ultra pc in front room, HD in office and HD in my hand. Great console. Yes battery could be better but I think as a 1st gen this machine is amazing.

Yup exactly. Search ROG Ally Amd Drivers, there’s a video on it with the steps. You need to manually load an inf first then install the driver package and reboot. It’s been solid for me.
I love all of the Destiny 2 footage. Can't do that on a steam deck without installing windows or streaming. Hopefully Bungie and a few other developers will start to support Steam OS better.

@ethanfuentes338 I use emudeck personally now that its not a buggy mess, but retrobat is a good pick if you don't want to pay anyone. If you want emudeck then make sure your anti-virus doesn't block its installation or use. Avast kept messing with me until I turned behavior shield.

What are the chances I can run CP2077 on low settings/fps?? I accidentally got the Z1 & now am stuck with it, even tho playing 2077 was one of my top 3 hopes to use this for, being that everything else is too expensive or requires other services. I have steam on my old 2017 laptop but have not been able to enjoy 2077 anywhere, or even Stray, both a huge hype wish I've had for years. I'm not at all spoiled on tech, and in fact a Pixel 6 phone is for sure the best tech I've had until now, when my laptop died & I was forced to replace it, hoping to get something more portable that I could also game on, since I haven't really been able to do any of that in well over a decade. So being that I really couldn't care about high settings, I just really want to experience Cyberpunk after the roller coaster of hype/hate/re-hype I've had for it since 2018! 🤞😅
genuine question: Can you set the gyro sensor to a mouse input? Generally when you emulate the stick with gyro you get less precision and your speed is limited. Its a small thing, but its one of the main things that is stopping me from considering picking up the ally over a legion go or steam deck, both of which have that option
This titles pretty much says it all it actually aged like fine wine, just got better and better, add an 2280 2tb ssd and oh boy the loading times are pretty much instant, low Temps, asus improved so much the performance at lower wattage like 15w get 60-70fps on most titles mid-high settings, 25w I get an additional 15-20fps depending on the games, the new 900p mode is a game changer, games look great and run great
I have used it almost every day since launch. Love it. Ive even used it for some programming side projects, although its a bit difficult cuz I dont have a monitor that can mirror it too with a cord.

No idea how but on a r5 release model and i havent had the sd card issue even with using as a desktop replscement. Mine must be a golden egg. Btw must add, lovin the beanie, fly eagles fly🦅
Sorry for the late response I kinda like this device. The graphics are awesome, the frame rate is perfect, and as is well suited for heavier games. I'm telling you Dave this is what the Switch could've been if the developers pushed it to it's limits.

If they would allow us to turn off CPU cores we could reduce the tdp without annihilating performance. Would make 10watt perform more like the steam deck. 8 cores is too much to power at 10 watts.

Not sure if you can cuz you upgraded the internal storage, but I RMA'd mine and it's been a few days and I haven't had any issues so far.

Great video, but you didn't mention the main issue with this device, the Sd-card reader ruining Sd cards, has it been repaired?
Install the AMD GPU drivers from AMD directly for a boost in performance as well as FSR 3.
When you download directly from amd are you choosing the 7840u drivers? Just curious as to which one people use cause I didn't see one for z1 extreme

Do not buy it as it has a design flaw with the SD card slot overheating.
It’s been fixed at least for me no problems use as slot everyday
I have it for 2 to 3 months, no issue with the micro sd card. Using a 512gb micro sd
I have had since June and use SD card for some light games and emu, still working great so far.
