Australian Pipe Major here. I also do drum majoring in our pipe band. Learned basic drill in the Australian army. It's great to see our drill explained from an "outsider's" point of view (I know absolutely nothing about American drill).
Everything you demonstrated & explained looks great to me.
I agree with your comments about the shoes. In Australian civilian pipe bands, dress shoes are commonly worn (for cost reasons) though ghillie brogues are preferred. The only annoying thing that stood out in your video was the tops of your socks being uneven - sorry, but I just couldn't stop seeing it.(Scottish hose & flashes with no kilt was also a bit jarring).

I am leaving you with a few remarks based on this tutorial. I hope you find them useful.
The drill applicable to pipe bands is British, not Scottish.
When being brought to "attention" at the start of the competition/parade etc. the first "Drum Majors!" brings the drum majors from "easy" to "at ease". The second "Drum Majors!" is the cautionary command given in anticipation of
"AtteeeenShun!"
The command should take the form of one, uninterrupted word.
The first part of the command is drawn out and the last part is clipped.
There is no pause between the two parts, for example, LeeeeftTurn, not Left.....Turn.
The drum major's hand must be on the shaft of the mace, never touching the mace head.
Half turns left and right are included in full competition.
To stabilise all your turns, particularly "about turn", squeeze your arse cheeks tightly together throughout the movement. This will also stop that shoulder wiggle you mention.
When falling out, right turn, then, march three paces, before walking away. Don't just right turn and walk away.
Pipe bands don't move to the front or rearm they "advance or retire".

Canadian military drill derives somewhat from the British. When you are using the command "shon", would I be correct to assume you are really just using a shortening of the command "Attention"?
Correct. It comes from the phrase “Atten-Shun”. Some judges may say atten-shun or drum majors-shun. Either way “-Shun” is the command of execution

Google "Dalman and Narborough". They make custom maces for Shaquilles and Short-Arses and everyone in between.

It's not just "Scottish marching".....it's British Army marching. Too bad American high school band DM's don't know about this video. Too many years of ignorance to count especially on the part of high school band directors who really don't care. Just throw a plaid brooch on a glengarry as a cap badge or wear scottish highland dress with a bearskin or HS band shako.
