So, if u want to feel a little bit the atmosphere of the so-called "toska of the Russian soul", then u can read "War and Peace", "Crime and Punishment", "Idiot" (Dostoevsky). Its our classic, although I dont rlly like these novels and dont consider them a reflection of the Russian soul. "The Master and Margarita" (Bulgakov) is a crazy novel about love, human vices and pure evil🖤. A beautiful movie has recently been released! I rlly like "Eugene Onegin" (a novel in poetry by Alexander Pushkin, a film was recently released), "Hero of our Time" (Lermontov about the fate of a man who destroyed the lives of others), "Fathers and Children" (Turgenev, a novel about conflicts of generations and love), "First Love" (the tragic story of Turgenev), "Doctor Zhivago" (the fate of a good doctor during the First World War and the Revolution🖤), "Roadside Picnic" (if u know the Stalker, then this is the original story). But idk if there is an English translation. From a foreign country for me: "The Great Gatsby", "The Night is Tender", "Wuthering Heights" (there's an atmosphere there that makes u want to die), "The Stranger from Wyfeld Hall" (it seems to be written that way, Anne Bronte's novel about realistic love), "Portrait of Dorian Gray"
I really like the way that this isn't a 100% identical to the original. I LOVE how you pick your own feelings and create something new. Both versions are good each in their own way and listening to your version after listening to the original one thousand times makes me feel like I felt when I heard this song for the first time.
