I first heard this extraordinary musician playing this somewhat contentious but beautiful work in a live recording from the Liederhalle in Stuttgart in 1992. I was so captivated by both the work and the playing that I learned it, played it and even recorded it entirely from listening to the recording as I could not find a score. The only other pianist I have heard play it is Edwin Fischer. It does not appear at all in the Barenreiter edition, but it IS thought to be Mozart, although possibly not a a piano work. Anyway, it was a wonderful introduction to great artist, and it is so lovely to see Mr. Richter paying absolute attention in the audience.
