smurf accounts shouldnt be aloud in events . top split guys on smurfs shitting on genuine drivers in lower splits just so they can get a win , all most as bad as cheating
To be fair, many at the higher level I don't think have malicious intent. They just do it to preserve iRating for special events like this. But I'm sure there are a few bad apples no doubt.
@@ImmortanG in my experience. many get above 3k and then scared to loose ir . its not right or fair on single account drivers . if you have a smurf account (for practice) they should be asked to nominate a account to do events with, and plus if your scared of loosing ir, you shouldnt be on iracing but maybe gt7. everyone wants to keep there ir but are you even a racer if your scared to loose it and win it back out of effort and skill

I joined a team and we raced it. None of us have done something like this before so some of us (myself included) grinded our sports car license to be c class in order to race, and despite being the bottom split, we placed 13th in the gt3s. Which we were proud of! We went in not looking for a win, but to survive and experience it, next year we can get our iRatings up and be competitive. Also my split didnt have rain at all, only fog.
Nice recap - perhaps the most crazy race I’ve driven due to the chaos and rain😂 I hope it was as entertaining to watch as it was to drive Markus, Apex Racing Team
Nice recap. Our team, which was shown in the iRacing Tweet in the upper right corner, ran in a slot 3 rain race. It was not just a bit of rain, it was mostly rain. The rain itself wasn’t too bad, but the transitions to and from rain were very challenging. Once you switched to dry tires if you got off line in the slightest you were going for a ride. The only thing iRacing might want to consider addressing are the rather deep puddles at pit entry. Nearly every team experienced a hydroplaning incident coming into pit lane, which typically resulted in an unsafe pit lane entry penalty. Consequently once each team figured out what was going on the drivers entered pit lane on the far left away from the puddling. The point is, any car with rain tires shouldn’t be hydroplaning at the 57 mph speed limit. Other than that, it was definitely a fun and challenging experience.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! Hopefully they will be able to take the large set of data from the event and improve the model at the track for next year.
Depends how deep the puddle is. 60mph on a flooded road will cause road cars to aquaplane and spin off, never mind race cars with low ride heights that essentially become boats. Depth of the puddle is down to the topography of the track, so out of iRacing's hands.
Honestly don’t blame iRacing. This is what iRacing Reddit and their forum aka “the community” demanded and wanted. MOAR rain! Blame them. They refused to accept anything less than massive amount of rain races
Regarding the controversy, Ole is widely considered within the sim racing community to be one of the cleanest and nicest guys around. This was his first ever time doing anything remotely close to a grey area of «exploits», so a punishment stronger than a DQ from one of the biggest races of the year I don’t think is necessary. If it happens again it will be another story, but let him first of all prove that it won’t happen again
I don't know. I don't think you get to "bank up" good will just to cash it in. Anything less than a win would essentially be a dq anyways and if you cheat, you lose your position. Doesn't matter if it's 1st, 5th or 40th. What it should mean is that you don't get banned from the service.
One thing to note about the rain incidents.. lf there’s anyway you could look into how many people had to tow back to pits, that would be helpful.. most of the damage I saw were from head on collisions that people could just tow and fix and some would stay in the pits for up to an hour.. this would cause less incident points to be accumulated since there’s no driving..
Ah interesting point! Best I can do is do a statistical comparison. Been a looong time since I had to mess around with statistics, but best I could figure to try was run a t-test between the incidents of each time slot vs the rain slot. The results if I did it right, showed no significance, ie. not enough evidence to conclude that weather conditions (dry vs. wet) lead to different incident totals. Would be cool if iRacing had the repair hours required for this year and last year to compare though!
My team was in the rain slot. I’m really glad we did that split after it was all said or done. Just throws in that extra element to mix things up. Loads of fun! P3 in the gt3 class. Would’ve been higher if it weren’t for the 1.2k proto drivers
You can call me weird but I actually love racing in the rain really enjoyed it when the team asked who wants to race in the rain a literlary started screaming yes.
I spotted my split! I was in slot 2 with SOF of 1620 in the GTD class, it was extremely foggy the entire race and yeah quite messy with the x's, but at least my team and I managed to win it!
Rain was good and more for me I was fastest in my split. What I didn’t like was the “light” 3 hours rain just was an slower dry circuit. Cuz all were in dry tyres I get that maybe 1 hour but even in light rain we should have some wet patch’s
Your data on rain is not correct. We ran the 2nd slot, Saturday 7am, and we had 2 instances of rain, which led to over half the race being in wet conditions.
I was watch Max live around the 7 gour mark maybe and I think he was in 2nd. The stream stopped suddenly and it said copyright something team redline. I am stiff very confused.
@@ImmortanGOMG that has to be what happened. WOW I am glad I asked. I didn't bother looking at who it was and was only watching for 10 minutes when it happened. You guessed it. Thank you for helping me.
Is there ever a race where max doesn’t have a clip of dive bombing or clipping into someone? Dude is one of the most agressive drivers I’ve ever seen fully accepted in the service. I feel like this wouldn’t be tolerated if he wasn’t who he was in F1…
The GTD BMW didn't follow the racing line which is what they are advised to do when a faster class comes at them, So from Max's perspective there would be little he could do as anyone in that position would assume the inside is the way to go.
@@DabDabGooseyeah other drivers could avoid that. Some drive with caution approaching slower classes, some have a sense of entitlement and choose to just barge through. max is one of the latter, and has more than a little form of doing this.
@@V.42405 You say that, but it's a Corner where the racing line goes from the rightt to the left, he did commit pretty early but that is the only side the faster class would be going, I assume the GTD wasn't keeping track of who was behind them at that point because the block is pointless.
i love the summary od Daytona, but im so sorry this tables at 11:13 are so bad on so many levels its unbelivable. You simply can not look at one race and say yea i understand everything. Thats not how statistics works mate.

We were slot three on a lowly split. Rain was brutal especially when it started again middle of the night. Visibility zero going through the kink.

Could they not ip ban for a month so they can’t use smurfs?
Not certain how it works on the technical side to be honest.
Tying accounts to Mac addresses would work better than IP.
ip and hardware bans are pointless anymore. VPN will get you around an IP ban and a spoofer will get you around a HWID ban
we had rain in slot 2

Timeslot #2 only had 14 splits. Timeslot 3 with the rain was the one that started at 12pm GMT / 7 am EST.
