Well done as ever. You both decided to take up this slower paced lifestyle for yourselves, but you are also giving people like myself a chance to put my feet up and totally enjoy your adventure.
hi lovely people lovely good to see you both again, the boat looks fab. you must be happy with the finish. its nice to see you going down memory lane. good old days.. xx
Lovely video. I know how it feels to go down memory lane. I live 4500 miles from my childhood home, so memory lane is important to me. Love the table you fashioned to fit so perfectly. You don’t have railing where you steer your boat. Has that ever caused a problem? Love your two dogs!
Small world . Walked from Knowle to Kingswood junction and back today then on same day watched your vlog and what should appear the Knowle flight! Think it is a impressive and pretty flight of locks 😃
The journey down farmers bridge locks struck a chord with me. I am a Birmingham lad and when I was about 9 years old on Saturday mornings me and my friend David would go to Birmingham science and industry museum in Newhall st. The museum straddled both sides of the canal and the two sides were joined by a bridge across the the canal. The bridge looked as though it was about to fall down. Had wonderful hours in the museum and I can still remember some of the exhibits more than 60 years ago. All has now been redeveloped with giant tower blocks. Regards from Redruth Arnold
Hello Arnold. Thank you for watching and for your comment. What amazing memories you have. sounds like you had a great childhood. It is hard to imagine children now going to a museum on a Sunday morning x
I travelled through Birmingham back in the late 70's early 80's on my Dad's boat as a kid. We did the IWA rally at Titford Pools. It looks a lot better now than it did back then. The water was black and smelled horrid every time you stirred up the black mud on the bottom.
My son’s first job was with the landscaping company that did the roof gardens for Birmingham Library. Although the initial build was done before he joined he did get sent there to do some maintenance. Looks very impressive.
Tummy rubs all done!. The roof garden is doing so well I have had to trim it back to see wher we're going. Cut the rosemary back today to make a hair rinse!
Another great video, keep them coming. Many of the things that you do, probably seem routine to you, but for us it is new and exciting. We can live our lives vicariously through you and Fran.
Really getting to know this whole area thanks to all the vlogs, there are quite a few boaters in the region at the moment on You Tube I think it's a message to get in gear and bring my boat up for an adventure. Thanks guys .
have you ever been up to the Lancaster canal...the hard bit is crossing the Ribble....you can get as far as Tewitfield or go down to Glasson dock....no locks on the Lancaster apart from at the bottom end and a few down to Glasson Dock....
OH My! what a complete nightmare through Birmingham locks.....and under a bridge!!!! Birmingham looks unrecognizable to me.. lots changed in 20yrs, eh. Fran did really well with all the locks, not sure I would. The boat is looking so good, are you really going to paint it all red on the sides ? the contrasting blue breaks up the red and makes your boat stand out from others. Thanks for uploading, as usual brilliant. Rich-any pics of the yestur years as a boy on the canals? We went to Butlins at Lowerstoff (Ugh) for our hols as kids.
Hi Becky. The jury is still out on the paint. We were going to keep the blue, but although you may not see it on the videos, the shade of blue and red don't quite work. We will decide when all the red bits are done. Rich has been looking for photos, but we think they are all on slides. we will try to find some .
Love your travels, can’t wait for you to get up north onto Lancaster or Leeds to Liverpool canals, might try to see you when you do, keep up the good work
you are right! now a boneified handyman, the table looks awesome Rich. And as always great camera work, nothing wrong with Fran's driving to coin a phrase. John NZ
You have the red paint left over. Or cream. Or black, certainly. Even stones. Find round rock the grey color and tan color around the canals until you have enough pieces for the game. Or a branch that has dried, you can slice 1cm slices and paint half of them. Or pick a second color and paint all of them 2 different colors. Whatever way you decide to manage it, the stones are the easiest part of the game to replace. Even the 25mm tiles in 2 colors. Nothing says that they have to be round. Great video! Thanks for taking us along down to your childhood days. Did you grow up on a Narrowboat?
Blimey, that was trip down memory lane our kid, you were spot on with whereabouts we used to moor the boat. Do you not remember the river boat that old boy had been doing up for about 10 years and got nowhere that was moored next to Threshold? Great vid bro , loves ya both . Xx
It's amazing the different things we remember as twins. I haven't any memory of the river boat! The locks and pounds were so bigger than I remembered and we used to skip around them. So dangerous !! 😀
Yeah you used to play with the lockeepers daughter, I don't ever remember speaking to her. Do you remember us two sat in that blow up dinghy at the bottom lock and the paddle was opened, bloody hell it was like shooting the Rapids on the Colorado...lol
