Just watching from around 6.30 that Volvo overlander army vehicle 🧐could of been back home in Sweden driving around the forest it was certainly at home..what a peach of a vehicle and i bet you'll never a nuther 👍..

@@syncrojunkieNein, leider nichts davon. Mein Van ist ein Citroën Jumper, natürlich modern und schneller auf Straßen unterwegs, aber er versprüht nicht den Charme wie Dein Volvo! Leider kann ich gar nichts an einem Auto reparieren, mein technisches Wissen ist gering. Aber ich mag Fahrzeuge wie diesen Volvo oder Pinzgauer/Steyr-Puch. Alleine Geruch und Haptik … 😊

Looks like a random winter Tuesday in Canada... I'm guessing you guys don't normally carry a scraper/snow brush.
@@Furniture121 you would be lucky to get a selection of two hand scrapers here let alone a whole isle with multi scraper/brush tools 😂. Yes ice like that is unusual here and was totally unexpected. There was a forecast for heavy snow and I had a shovel and brush on board… but up in the forest and moorland it was unexpectedly cold that night. Scraper now added to the inventory 🥶
This popped up in my feed so was surprised when he said he’d open the choke so I instantly realised is a petrol engine, so quickly googled it which if correct tells me it’s a 3 litre petrol engine with a 5 speed gearbox.
It will be 50 years old next year. Cast iron pushrod 3L straight six still going stong
Gearbox was made by ZF and is a 4 speed with a transfer case providing 4 low and 4 high…
if you go to cairngorm (or other ski resorts) it is normal to see cars parked with their wipers flipped up off the screen to prevent icing issues.... great truck by the way.
@@StreakyP yeah it was forecast heavy snow not ice so the freezing rain was a shock 😂 never trust the forecast!
I believe you may have drove past me in my daihatsu just before where you parked up for the night in the forest section that evening, it looked awesome mate. Very cold up there!

If you pul your speedo cable apart - clean and grease it then it will stop flickering - if you don't do it soon it will snap
@@trevortrevortsr2 it only does it a slow speeds, above 25mph it settles and is “normal” but I will see if it can be maintained….
Judging by the location, I would've used the icing as a reason to stay there longer and then prayed for it to remain below 0 for as long as possible. 🙂

I would enjoy selling my house and living in an overlanding vehicle where nature is all around and the ability to change scenery at a moments notice.

Nice one! I know that area well and it can get quite rough! Had a 4x4 version and that was bouncy. Got rid because of!

What sort of fuel mileage per gallon/litre do you achieve?
Its a straight six 3L petrol running on dual Stromberg 175SE carbs. So as expected fun costs money :-) so it gives around 14mpg

@@RolandOfGileadOnYT had to cut the drone shots short as was getting motor overload from prop icing 🤦♂️ it bounces like that at low speeds but settles once you are driving…. Need to investigate but a common issue think it needs a new cable it will be 50 years old next year 👍

Mine (Unimog) bounces around a little as well at lower speeds, luckily not as wild as yours. :)

Yes rain at -8 with 40mph winds causing wind chill to about -17 freezing on contact.

NOt worth throwing a tarp over at night to stop this from happening . Makes "escaping "in a emergency a lot easier
Yeah it was forecast snow, lots of snow but the temp drop and wind chill changed that…. I had a tarp in the locker 🤦♂️

What were the temps like in the box rich?
@@jaymitcham all good pal, only used the diesel heating a couple of times in the night but was warm in bed without any heating…. It was forecast -6 but 40-50mph storm was rocking me to sleep so with the wind chill it was about -17 outside, hence the ice bath 😂
