    A big job but worth it. What colour would you paint this car?

    • @cathrynm
      @cathrynm 7 месяцев назад +1

      That color was fine. I do think 356 look better a little less shiny.

      @OutlawGarage  7 месяцев назад +1

      Just enough colour to show the shape of the body, but not too much to distract from the car, perfect.

      @@OutlawGarage I think Singer figured it out. First glance looks stock, maybe original -- but then look again, a little closer, and it's like "Oh wait." If the color was something Porsche might have used, even if they didn't, that's cool too.

    Looking forward to following this journey. That hood fitment looks more like a front right impact issue at some point, or even worse damage to floor panels from towing.. most of the cars were leaded to tighten gaps, so left factory looking pretty good. Certainly not like that!

      Yep, it was strange. Hoping to see the next step soon as I’m really keen to see the dipping process and what it looks like afterwards

    At this point in history almost anything German aircooled is worth restoring pending on how deep ones pockets are or how much time and skill one person has. Unfortunately my late father sent many a split screen Kombi and oval beetle to Sims metal in the 80s and 90s, they were simply not financially viable to restore. Having said that if he had the facilities (or cared enough about them) a warehouse full of them now would have been a goldmine.

      Absolutely gold mine. It’s time and money now for restorations, very few shops are restoring them now. I think this one is going to turn out great 👍

    Just look at the bonnet for difference between T5 vs T6
    T5 - rounded bonnet
    T6 - squarer bonnet

    • @OutlawGarage
      @OutlawGarage  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, seemed a little odd, maybe the incorrect bonnet?

    • @fittipaldi7326
      @fittipaldi7326 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@OutlawGarage it is the correct front hood. The early 356B’s (T5’s) had a rounded “smiley face” hood with a single grill engine lid, whereas the T6’s have a squarer front hood with twin grill engine lid.
      I just corrected my terminology from previous post to try and avoid doubt.
      I am also pretty sure the T6’s had external fuel cap whereas the T5’s you have to lift the front hood to access the fuel tank.
