Reviving a comment over a decade old, but I have to add; Chris and Rich, when writing together for the Crowes, are probably in the top 5 all time best songwriting teams.
Stuff like the lyric you mentioned, or "the cross from someone she has not met..... well not yet", as well as dozens (maybe hundreds) of other magical lyrics they have written over the years, definitely make them one of the best bands of all time.
Also one of the best live bands you could ever see (and they were the very first live band I saw at a festival; monsters of rock donington 1991), and probably one of the least likely to sell out of all musical acts.
