Not sure how old mine is🤔. My mom helped clean out an old friend's house after she died, she had one but her daughter's had their own, so they gave it to my mom. She had it a couple of years, my last sibling left home, she gave it to my sister who had it a few years but didn't use it much, so she gave it to me. I've had it 26 years😁. Bought a new lid and dough hook when the old one broke. Also cookie whips, which I love😊. I have 6 kids, but only 1 is home now so it doesn't get as much use as it once did, but I totally LOVE my Bosch. So sorry yours is dead😪.

I have to say, as an atheist, it is so refreshing to meet a family who has faith, but doesn't cram it down their communities throats. Makes your channel so much more accessible. This account is my actual name and yes, the profile picture is me. I too was adopted into the whitest family in Melbourne, Australia. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother biological to my parents, so if I was a sheep, I would literally be the dark brown sheep of the family. I was fortunate to grow up with children with special needs (1 of my mum and dads family friends had 11 biological children, 4 of whom were down syndrome) To those of you who have not encountered a down syndrome person in your life, never forego the most incredible hugs you can receive, the extra chromosome is a hugging one and it's awesome. I think as a Mormon Mike should try and avoid 7th Day Adventists, he does look more like the second coming of Jesus (the white one) :-) Be well, stay safe, and from an adoptee, thanks for your compassion and sharing your love with all those kids ;) Michael

There are several different models of Kitchen Aid stand mixers. I started small (5 quart) which was great for years and nothing happened to it (kept it for when my baking daughter moves out), but when we started baking our own bread regularly I upgraded to the 6 quart bowl lift model, though I would have loved the more commercial 7 quart but that was a lot more money. So they definitely do have their purpose, and many models to meet various needs. I do hear great things about the Bosch. For me there are some functions other than dough where the KA better meets my needs.
I have a cookbook very similar to the yellow one. My mother got it for a bridal shower gift. It's dated 1948. If you look check to see if it has a game section. My book has one for opossum stew! It's just a fun read if nothing else. It literally is an encyclopedia of culinary art cooking and down home.
You all seem very at ease right now, it's nice to see. Andrew reminded me of young Leo with the straightened hair. Your copper collection is coming along nicely, and the berries (I think?) arranged in front of the mirror look nice.
I love old cookbooks. Over the last 15 years I've searched thrift stores for them, my collection is about 100 books. I read them as novels. The last 5 Thanksgivings we've been making pumpkin slab pies,but along with the cinnamon and nutmeg we add Chinese Five Spice powder. Yum. Have a happy Turkey Day.

Know many who have Kitchen Aid for regular sizing baking and own a Bosh for big baking. Typically this is the time of year to purchase small appliances with all the sales.Laughed at Mike and his hot iron adventure.

Have both the Bosch and the kitchen aid. Love the Bosch for bread and large batches of things. Kitchen aid was a gift. It is great with cheese grater and making one cake or icing. Bosch does do bread and its great for that! If I had to buy one I'd buy the Bosch. With other attachments. I only got the blender attachment for it. I love it though.
So after I watched your Instagram and saw the cookbook ... I went out and found it ... if it weren’t for your find I would never of know what cookbook my grandmother gave my mom. So it took me 3 different purchases to get the one that was the 1948 print I have lol but hopefully the one coming in on the 10 th is the one. The earliest I have is 1967 right now, and the 1978 which is going to my eldest daughter. My grandmothers is sitting on my book shelf in 2 pieces, no bind or cover and if you look at yours there is no title through out the book except the first few pages ... I owe you so many thank yous... my first cake I ever made alone ( I was 9 ) was from this book is on page 705...silver cake. I also made caramel icing page 728 ( umm scared me from ever making it again for a very long time ... if you ever made it you will understand lol I made the volcano) I hope you have as much fun as I have in the 40 plus years I’ve played with this book. It is my go to. I love it.

The year 1976 has some significance for me since it was the year our first daughter was born. I would love to get my hands on the 1950 version since that was the year I was born. It's a lot of fun searching for recipes in my Culinary Arts Cookbook.

My mother had an earlier addition of your cookbook. I have it and still use it. There is a recipe for ice box butter scotch cookies that she always made for Christmas. There is also a lemon chiffon pie from it that she made.

We have pumpkin pie for tradition. I like store bought better than homemade. However, we also make pumpkin rolls because they are just really good. Homemade is better than store bought.

Here's a suggestion for your oven. Placing a ceramic (pizza) baking stone on the lower rack, it will help regulate the temp in the oven.

I have a plastic tub I keep all the cookie making supplies. Flour sugars salt ect.. It's seperate from my regular supplies.
