I have been loving re-watching all of your NZ videos! Thanks to my awesome parents being explorer type people, we've travelled almost all of NZ since we moved here from America in 1999. I've done this sandboarding five times since I loved taking my girlfriends there as well when they came over for road trips! It's so much fun, but ohhh, the sand in your teeth! (and everywhere else!) haha!
Never heard of Sandboarding, but if I ever get the chance, I'll for sure do it! Great behind-the-scenes, and I can't wait for the main video. You always pick really interesting ideas and topics for your movies! Keep up the great work Devin, you're awesome! :D
Just got my first stabilizer (Autopilot), am working hard to get my footage as steady as possible. Takes practice, but its still really cool to be able to walk and get smooth video. The results have been pretty great so far. Your videos have been a really big source of inspiration for me. Love your work, good luck on your next shoot.
I hope some of the shots of me make it into the main video! Got up at sunrise for those :P can't wait for the main vid, so inspiring to watch you work! learnt some tips to apply to my own videos!
devingraham you should do one of your old school vids like the assassins creed meets parkour or worlds largest rope swing how you filmed only on a 5d mark iii haha
I want to be a part of your crew Devan. I wanna be a filmmaker and you inspire me so much Not only are your videos awesome but you seem like such a chill nice guy.
Your videos are awesome ! They inspire me a lot to make mines, i would like to thank you for your behind the scene because it helps "little" videomakers like me ! I think my dream is to have a RED to increase my video's quality, my GREENLAND video is only in 720p :c
Wharton state park all day long! My wife did her PHD studies in the pine barrens, and i was able to get access to all types of places. We still take our jeep out once a month or so. We don't go mudding, but it is fun to watch other people do it. We went to Lacy during their annual run one time and it was awesome.
devingraham Hey devin before I ask my question, just wanted to let you know that you are a big inspiration to me in terms of filming. Its hard to believe that 4 years ago you started (technically revolutionized) a whole new idea of filming by just using a glidecam and dslr. I hope one day we will meet when I start filming videos. Question: How do you make the phantom look so good since you have to upscale it to 4k? I would think that the image would be blurry and lose resolution. Do you have to do a lot in post to make it look good? Thanks
There's another channel that I came across today who's name I want mention and their style similarly resembles yours. The main video and behind the scenes. Also... They just posted a sand boarding video in Peru
Cameras aren't cheep the best and most used amateur film camera is probably the Cannon 5D Mark 2 and 3. Then the pros use RED cameras. He does also didn't know that but RED cameras are crazy expensive.
gametocken actually majority of "pros" use the Arri Alexa or other cameras but surprisingly not many use RED. If you look at the Oscar nominees for this year and last year for cinematography, there may have only been one RED which was used as a B camera to the Alexa. Many feature productions still use the 5m3 (in the way an indie filmmaker might use a go pro as the 5m3 is cheap compared the cinema camera) and the 5dm3 is probably one of the most favored by mid-level to high end. Currently now the Sony a7s is the best mid-level camera for filmmakers. At an amateur level there really is no leader, there are DSLRs, mirrorless and many who shoot on their phone and get great results (search for the Sundance short film shot entirely on an iPhone 5s). +SwedishGamerHD my advice to you is to choose the right camera for you then buy your tools for it ( glide can etc) Currently I wouldn't buy a camera right now, wait for 3-5 months for this years products to come out and get them. If you can't wait, I cannot recommend the a7s enough. It is the best value for money camera today.
SwedishGamerHD yeah seriously the sony, I am a cinematographer myself and I have use it plenty a time, it is fantastic, it will cost more money that a cheap shitty canon dslr will but produces an image 10 times as good. I always think that canon DSLR footage looks videoish and never filmic. Yeah I would DIY the glidecam or invest in a gimbal. Gimbals are taking the market by storm and are much easier to use and learn than a glide came and comes up with better results with less effort, I would recommend for this camera the nebula 4000 or the came 7800. This setup may be costly but with some practice shoot you right up there to Devins level or higher. If you add me into your circles I can direct you to places that may help you tremendously ! :)
Part of me is like "ohmygosh that is so cool" and would love to try it someday, but my cynical side is thinking "I wonder how much sand people ate on this shoot?"

Yeah your shots look a lot like Devins smooth shots
Timesproinc Haha I've made my own D.I.Y "glidecam" and its crazy how good it is for $20. Nothing beats the pro gear though. :)

devingraham you should do one of your old school vids like the assassins creed meets parkour or worlds largest rope swing how you filmed only on a 5d mark iii haha
