There are some cool elements for sure.... but also a lot of problems, too, a few things worth noting.
1) NPCs don't move. When they were alerted to the players they just stood completely still doing nothing but shooting. Really takes you out of the game. Especially since i've been replaying Halo lately, and man -- those older games have some of the best AI in all of gaming. All of them react and behave differently. So it's a bummer to see that almost 15 years later and the AI has taken some huge steps backwards.
2) Environments are definitely cool, but no destructibility really takes away from it. Gives it that theme park feeling. It has an awesome gritty look, but not being able to blow holes in walls or see damage taking place diminishes the impact of the level design, especially because the art direction looks very much like a Neil Blomkamp movie.
3) I like that the player characters actually react to being hit. Way too many games don't have player-character hit reactions. More games need this and I understand why they don't add it but it really adds to the immersion when your character isn't a cardboard bullet-sponge.
4) They really need animations for getting into and out of vehicles. It's extremely jarring seeing a game look as good as this does and then the characters teleport into and out of vehicles at the snap of a finger. It really takes away from the realism aspect. I expect goofiness in games like Fortnite, but games like this will lose appeal quick if it feels like nothing matters and everything is done to appeal to the people who have extremely short attention spans.
Improve the AI of the game, make the environment destructible and an animation of entering and exiting the vehicles, everything can be added although the destructible environment seems the most difficult
@@AimerxdThe problem is that UE5 has a rather taxing and unimpressive AI suite, so they would either have to design their own for a networked-based game (very difficult) or try to find a solution the asset store (could be possible but could also require a lot of work and potential processing power depending on the plugin and how it meshes with their runtime environment). But you're right, it's definitely doable if they put time and effort into it.
You're also right that the animations for entering and exiting vehicles is just a matter of having the animation team dedicate resources to the task. But destructible environments will require a complete rework of many of the assets and physics calculations if they didn't already pre-bake certain assets for destructibility, and very few games add destructibility after the fact because of the required overhaul of assets to achieve that required effect, and sadly I doubt they will do that here for Off The Grid given how close to release it is.

Too bad they missed their stated release date and have been largely radio silent for months. Was looking forward to this but its looking canceled at this point. Was supposed to release in the first quarter 2024.
They are not radio silent. Testing for invited players are still ongoing, Discord is active and game is progressing. As you are on primarily Star Citizen channel, I assume you know how these things can go sometimes.

Why are people excited about unreal engine? Looks great, sure, but it’s going to hitch and crash like every other game on ue
Tech demos and marketing are a heck of a thing. We still don't have any good performing UE games because they need to refactor their threading protocols, but that requires A LOT of under-the-hood engineering. But Epic makes a lot of money selling licenses and a lot of games use it and it has some great graphics, and that's basically what sells it. They really need to focus on the core CPU threading issues.
Because people still think an engine makes up a good game

60 hr campaign comprised of 40 hrs of nice looking UE5 cut scenes and absolute trash gameplay, braindead npcs, and a nonsense story nobody will care about and most likely spend more time looking for the skip button than enjoying any part of the game. But it's UE5 guys, lets go!

Their Discord is filled with NFT shills and Cryptobros.
Nobody even talks about the game there.
Actual news is rarely updated.
Game was supposed to release in 2023, then in december 2023 and now it's some time in 2024.
Yet none of this was announced in their official Discord page, it was just a random comment on one of their videos and I think only recently shown on their website.
You should educate yourself what web3 (crypto) gaming means for all the players. It’s the opposite of the EA, Ubisoft etc predatory tactics they have been using to milk everyone. Web3 gaming will enable players to actually earn money while playing the game, look up some games in the making like bad mad robots for example (web is getting a rework) which will share up to 30% revenue with the playerbase and the rest will go towards rewards, game dev etc . Governments are brainwashing folks like you cause crypto/nft means freedom not what they tell you on media that it’s scam, money laundering etc . The sooner you realise the better it will be for you. Web3 revolution is coming wether they like it or not. All the best

Idk what it is but this game has such bad pc performance, I got a 4070ti and an amd r5 7600x and I'm not even scratching 30 fps on the lowest settings
I also have 4070ti and 14th gen i7 and noticed it's not powerful enough for all games in UE5

- Note how attaching to the train at 3:05 is exactly the same "gameplay" as 22:42 - just the player names differ. Same for the flying at 12:25 and 22:58
- Also suspicious how at 8:40 they knew exactly what to do and what was going on before the game even gave them any directions. They knew they were blocked and to get out of the vehicle *before* the quest goals told them to. For all they knew the leading vehicles was going to ram through the blockade next.
Individually these things wouldn't mean much, but you can find plenty of these little tells throughout the videos. Taken together it looks a lot like these streamers were following a rehearsed script. Consume with a shovel full of salt.

The first example is wrong you can actually see the hook lines differ from where they are attached and how different they are dragged by the train (direction)
Same thing for the second example its clear its scripted still i dont know who green lit the trailer or handed the same script for dr.dis, why didnt they use the same gameplay he recorded? 😂 It all is probably done with the purpose of hiding how under cooked this game probably is
