I've always thought the best drum solos are musical. And what does the best music need other than a beginning, an end, and a journey inbetween . This solo has everything, bravo!
I have been watching Sonny for the past few years, and I never saw anyone do what he does with a pair of brushes, the forgotten tools in drumming. Not only that, I love all of his solos, but this one is exceptional. Im so glad I can make him a part of my musical life. He may never know just how much pleasure I get from watching him, but I'm so glad I'm able to do so. Luv this guy!!
There are some other noteworthy brush masters out there; there's more room to be surprised. Check out Peter Erskine, John Riley, or some contemporary jazz cats. Trust me. They're all on youtube. The universe remains infinite. Drums away...
Wow !!! Once again Sonny makes me laugh out loud, this might be the best solo he's ever shared. He is really off the scale in every respect as a musician, crazy technique, creative genius, every note counts thank you Sonny for pushing the boundaries of art of the drum kit.
He seems like he has been playing, for real, at least 1000 years. He actually IS (as in IS) a drummer. His music is so fun and so entertaining and so musical... who is he?
@@KyleDavisMusic Yes, I saw that. But, who IS he? I mean, played in bands, session stuff, whereabouts? I can Google him, but dang his playing sure is fun!
