You’re not alone Reflected!
I am also a real life pilot who lives his passion through the vintage lens and I confess I too sometimes fly my DCS P-47 with a flying jacket and B2 cap on! Haha
I will certainly go for one of these amazing leather jackets from AVI Leather! Keep the great content, much love from France!
Man, I always wanted a B-2 cap! They're so cool! But probably too warm for me even for outside, let alone in the room to fly DCS :)
@@ReflectedSimulations well I have the excuse of being in the French alps where a B2 cap is totally appropriate for cold winter mornings! :D
I am the same, I am obsessed with A2 jackets. I have had several over the years, I also have the AVI leather bronco and its great! Love the campaigns you make for DCS thank you!
Cool! Goatskin or Horsehide? Which color did you choose?
@@ReflectedSimulations mines goatskin in seal brown. It’s lighter and easier to wear than my horsehide jackets. Just waiting for an Eastman A2 to finish my collection……for now! 😆
Absolutely loved this video! I cought the military flight jacket addiction a number of years ago and became obsessed with them. After spending thousands of dollars I was finally able to get cured and left the hobby. I recently watched your other video on the AVI M422a and I'm afraid have fallen off the wagon and have purchased that jacket after not buying any in the last ten years! I hope this doesn't start my addiction again to buying flight jackets! If so, I'm blaming you!😊😊
Fan too here and happy owner of an Avirex A2 with the escape map purchased 30 years ago in L.A. at the then "Cockpit" shop . Its leather was very rigid and the jacket is heavy, pretty sure it's made of horsehide!
Oh no. Another expensive thing I didn’t know I needed.
Haha, it's a rabbit hole, beware! You simply can't have 'just one' jacket :D
I want one! Can't wait for the new Campaign announcements too. Keep up the great work Reflected. Cheers.
Geez the detail is phenomenal when looking close, thanks for the showcase. Great news about working with magnitude too. Super excited for corsair & carrier
Thanks! Me too, I can't wait! There's one thing more challenging and fun than landing a Tomcat on the Forrestal, and that is landing the Corsair on the Essex following WW2 procedures :)
There's no need to feel awkward flying one in DCS. Hey, why not? And you'll be happy to hear that FS is getting gliders this year.
Cool, I may get into FS after all, then :)
I fly IL-2 Bob in full uniform including…
A-11 helmet ( original with headsets )
A-14 oxygen mask ( original with microphone )
B-8 flying goggles ( original )
A-2 or B-15 ( repro )
B-4 Mae West ( original )
Shirt and khaki paints underneath
A-6 Bristolite boots
A-10 leather flying gloves
Still planing on getting a A-4 flight suit but for now 10/10 would recommend
Not to mention in VR with the meta quest 2 over the helmet with the goggles off.
Picked up a repro A2, and inside liner is a bailout map of Occupied & Vichy France ,and Belgian border,, sleeves too. Major roads , cities, and R/Rds, rivers etc.
Great stuff! I have an old G1 that I wear a lot it's still in good condition, unlike it's owner.
Cool! I love how these jackets last a lifetime and they're like wine, becoming better with age - and wear.
Holy cow what a rabbit hole you’ve just sent me down! Lol. Seriously though, thanks for sharing this passion of yours with us. super interesting!
Thanks! Yeah, it really is a rabbit hole, but I love it :D
You should do more of this sort of thing! Really interesting and fun. I have an old USAF one I got in the 90s which I will have to try and hunt out again now!
Thanks, I'm glad you found it interesting. What kind of jacket was it? A newly issued A-2? The USAF reintroduced it, although made of goatskin and different pattern slightly.
@@ReflectedSimulations yes I think so. Whichever the standard issue one was. Has the 'goolie sheet' thing (not sure the technical name, just know that's what we Brits called it) sown into the back of it.
Has hand warming pockets behind the normal pockets. Yes it is the A2
@@indianajon7980 Not sure what that is...you mean a blood chit?
@@indianajon7980 Yes, that's a new issue A-2 probably. WW2 ones did not have hand-warmers, but it was added to modern ones for practicality.
This is soo cool! I got a Petroff flight jacket for christmas same year Top Gun came out. Looked like the G1, with removable mouton.
I have an A2, G1 and a Nomex. I love wearing them and the history behind them.
I have a Perry A2 repro in Seal Brown Horsehide from Avi. Really love it. Nice video!
Hey man, I’m absolutely loving paradise lost, just completed mission 10 yesterday and looking forward to the rest.
I’ll definitely be looking into the jackets and your other campaigns!
Thanks, glad you're enjoying it :)
Looking great. Just ordered an M-422a from Avi Leather am looking forward to it! p.s.: I cannot play much DCS lately but I really like your Topgun style campaign with Bio👍
Congrats on the jacket, I really love mine. Very supple, easy to wear.
I have the AVI m442 jacket which I love to bits as well as a Lost World A1 jacket that's made from horsehide, which is something that is WAY too hot for where I live....but my daily wear jacket is a 60's French air force leather jacket, it's a love shade of blue which tends to make it more casual with jeans and has a amazing fur collar which I can take off 😌
How’s the fit? True to size?
How soon is Christmas? I just ordered my USAF patches. Love what you are doing!
I love my flight jacket it's a 1982 g1 my nephew picked it up at a thrift store for 10 dollars looks brand new
I have the g1 that was used to my father during Korea The funny thing is he didn't give it to me he gave it to my cousin in the 60s who passed it to me for my birthday one year
Do you know what contract it is?
@@ReflectedSimulations did you receive msg I can't tell if they are going through
You were the fisherman and I was the fish. You set the hook in about 2 minutes. I was a crew chief on B-52s during Vietnam. I have the green nylon jacket but that really doesn't compare to the leather. I have all my patches ready to go when the jacket arrives in 2weeks. Check out my aircraft on the web. It's called, "Old Crow Express." Any recommendations on nose art painters would really be appreciated.
Wow, that's so impressive. That must have been an MA-1 or a lighter L-2B I assume? If you'd like to have your jacket painted, this guy is the best: facebook.com/A2painting
Good luck with your jacket project!
Here I am with my basic bitch Alpha Industries and Avirex haha.
My first A-2 was an old Avirex, it was super comfy, I loved it.
@@ReflectedSimulations Basically what mine is lol. 1970s A-2 passed down from my dad. Right now the Alpha G-1 is my daily wear. Nice goatskin and lamb mouton.
I had a look on Avi's site, their A-2's are pretty reasonable, around 300 euros, I am going to pick one up. They're great looking things. I've never owned a genuine leather coat before so looking forward to it. Early 40's and never had anything leather haha 😂
Yeah, great price for the quality. Which one are you going for?
@@ReflectedSimulations going for the Bronco A-2 seal brown horsehide.
@@PluckyUnderdog great choice! I love the more athletic fit of the Bronco. Seal brown goes well with everything too.
@Reflected Simulations it's great that some places do still take pride in clothes they make and actually manufacture things that will last a lifetime if cared for properly.
@@ReflectedSimulations ordered, can't wait. I like that they're definitely built to be snug and mould to the shape of your body
2023 I Like A-2, B-3, G-1 & MA-1, Very Chic. Be Cool, Like Steve McQueen. (smile)
Actually you made a mistake. The horse hide is way more durable and resistant than goatskin, lambskin and cowhide. By the way your videos are very well done, you got a talent to present in very interesting and involving to watch style.
@@tk4329 thanks! I find goatskin is more durable. I have a 50 yr old G-1 and the leather doesn’t show too much wear. Whereas some horsehide A-2s had to be redyed after a few years in ww2. But horsehide is much more sturdy and ‘heavy duty’ for sure, goatskin is more supple.
I just bought a G1 about a month ago. They are snug around your chest and belly; so you might want to order a size or two over your suit coat size for a bit more comfort. . Anybody recognize the guy in the G1 at 08:42?
Thanks a lot for this video!
I'm italian with a great passion for flight jacket, I would buy an A2 horshide leather jacket from avi leather but I'm not sure about the quality of the materials (because the price is very cheap), could you tell me something about it?, can they really last a lifetime in your opinion?
I never owned any of their horsehides but their goat is amazing. I have friends who own horsehide A-2s from AVI and they’re very happy with it.
@@ReflectedSimulations thanks a lot and congratulations for your channel!
Dose avi leather have raf style jackets for your spitfire campaigns?
Hey all, I’m thinking of getting an A2. But which is the more authentic WW2 colour, seal brown or russet?
Both are equally authentic. The specifications said 'seal brown' that is pretty vague. Some made it a dark chocolate brown, some a lighter russet. It may just be my impression, but I think russet A-2s were more common in the earlier years and darker seal was more common in late war years. Maybe because sometimes A-2s were sent back to the depot after someone's tour was over, where they redyed it with a darker seal color. You can see some of these re-dyed A-2s in Korean war photos too. So basically it's down to your personal preference. In my subjective view, russet is a bit more elegant and formal, classy, while seal is a little bit more 'rock n roll'. But your mileage may vary.
@@ReflectedSimulations thanks :-D, I already have a Cooper A2. So, being a huge fan for the P-40 I decided to go with an M-422A. I sort of prefer the USAAF however the AVG was an Army unit which just acquired some navy jackets so they don't count. I think sometime I might get a Russet A2 though
Can you help me identify this jacket it’s stamped usn in the flap and there’s a zipper that wraps from the left around the neck all the way to the right. There’s no tag but it says Cambridge inside on the lining.
The pockets aren’t pointed but straight. The collar is some type of fur. It has all the specs like the pen hole two pockets on front and two inside pockets
The pockets have buttons and bi swing back
It's pretty hard without a picture :(
All the geeks in the world want to play top gun
I fly the Cessna 172m working towards my ppI at the moment, I know about gliders but motor gliders? Do you have a ppl licence or leisure pilot certificate with that or is it considered the same as an ultralight? By the way I found out his channel looking at a-2 jacket which I my self own and always fly in.
I didn’t know about these kinds of sims they look so realistic what it the name of it? Thanks
Cheers
Hi Mathias! I fly gliders and I have a TMG extension for my license, so that's for motorgliders. Which A-2 do you own? The sim is DCS World, it's super realistic, not just a 'game' but a study level sim, and I make study level 'stories' for it based on historical documents or in cooperation with veterans.
Eastman a-2 in seal brown and I just received my b-10 olive green from Bronson clothing co, I love it waiting for leather squadron patch. I highly recommend Bronson and also mash from Japan I got their a-10 leather flying gloves, definitely will be diving into dcs world looks amazing. Also will be trying avi leather price and quality looks appealing
Cheers!
1:10 lol same here, I wore my Ma-1 playing jets in war thunder and I swear I did better 😅
