    Did Naomi Campbell FALL?!? 90s Fashion Show Reaction: Vivienne Westwood FW93 Runway

    Vivienne Westwood's "Anglomania" runway show has been on my to-react list for a while! While I admit I've been familiar with her brand's reputation and aesthetic from working in luxury department stores and reviewing red carpet looks, I have never watched an entire Vivienne Westwood show. In the 90s, she helped curate a new experience of fashion with her rebellious eye for patterns, layers, and Victorian-style dressing.
    Coincidentally, one of the most memorable Vivienne Westwood runway moments of the 90s is the infamous fall of my personal favorite supermodel, Naomi Campbell. Imagine my surprise when I watched the video, recognized the look, and did not see the fall happen at all! Apparently, Vivienne Westwood had a moment with Naomi backstage and sent her back out on the runway to reclaim the moment, which is really more infamous than anything. I'll likely be circling back soon and diving more into that redemptive runway walk, most likely somewhere on my RUclips Shorts 👀
    Vivienne Westwood's Fall 1993 Anglomania collection is full of voluminous, opulent design. Dramatically oversized faux fur coats and puffy crinoline-filled skirts portrayed the models in a classy but sophisticated way (Housewives people: think Erika Jayne of the 1800s). I personally resonate with her use of tartan because plaid is one of my favorite personal patterns. If I were to wear a Vivienne Westwood look, it would incorporate plaid in some way and I'd likely be going to see a performance at a local opera house with a fine gentleman.
    On the runway, Christy Turlington in that big red hair was clearly another star of the show, most notably from the bit with that man who so elegantly disrobed her faux fur coat so she should saunter down the runway! SO GOOD. The boots were a choice, as was the makeup, but the moment was everything. One thing about Vivienne Westwood: she is anything but conventional when it comes to a look.
    Kate Moss as Vivienne Westwood's tartan bride in one of the final looks of this runway show has to be the top look for me. It was Kate, Christy's moment with the guy and the coat, the scene from "The Greatest Showman", and definitely one of the madams in their plus, luxurious fur. Which look was most memorable for you?

    What a FABULOUS show! This was my first time watching a Vivienne Westwood fashion show, but there's more tea on that (and Naomi's fall) in the description AND at the end of the video. What was your most memorable look from the show and reaction? I hope this brings you some entertainment for the holidays. Which show should I react to next?! Leave requests for me in the comments and I hope you get to have a wonderful holiday 🎁💗✨

    The makeup is indicative of the era and fashion moment. It always gave, as Funky Dineva would say, Cremation #5.

    The white makeup is in keeping with the theme since faces were whitened powdered historically in England

    I. A pale complexion has pretty much always been considered desirable throughout History as being pale meant you were not working in the sun and had the luxury to stay inside. Being pale also meant that your veins were more visible and the nobility was often called “sang bleu" (blue blood), being pale therefore meant you could show off your blue veins and some aristocrats would actually emphasize them with make up.

    Malcom this was such a mad crazy fabulous collection that Westwood specialized in. Naomi walked twice in the same outfit in this show. First time she did the famous fall. Second time she walked out with that walking stick. And I think Linda said in an interview that she owns that Scottish ensemble. I can maybe see Tilda Swinton in the pale blue coat Linda wore and Zendaya in Naomi’s falling down ensemble ❤❤❤

    • @MalcolmSoaries
      @MalcolmSoaries  9 месяцев назад +1

      I had no idea Naomi walked twice and then I didn’t even notice the stick for the second time!! She made it look like it was supposed to be there wow! So iconic. Linda and Christy were everythingggg in this show. OMG TILDA!!!! What a perfect choice! I think I just saw her in a tartan ensemble somewhere recently as a matter of fact. Zendaya slays everything she wears as well 🙌🏾💯 thanks for watching!

      @MalcolmSoaries Funny story. Back in my 20s when I was doing a cabaret show and still taking voice lessons, I walked into my coach's apartment this one Saturday afternoon and he was finishing up a video chat with his friend, Elaine. He said "come over and say hi to my friend!" so I did and it was ELAINE HENDRIX on the screen!!! I was like, "Oh my god you're Elaine Hendrix" and she replied "Oh MY god you know who I am?" 🤣 Seriously. I told her "Yes, Meredith Blake, I know who you are!!". She had no idea that she's famous 🤣♥️

    The model you thought looks like Grace Jones, is actually Christie Denham. She is a British model who was popular during the "deconstruction" movement in fashion. Fun fact I met her when i was the assistant/ sample hand working with designer Lola Faturoti in the early 90s . Christie and another British model showed up for a casting. I knew who she was because she was a Vivienne Westwood muse. She was really nice, her body was snatched, and she has green eyes, and bone structure for days! And your right they made her grey, unfortunately there still was limited everything when it came to make-up for dark, brown skinned people, and make-up artists were limited. As for Naomi she fell because she was wearing fubber tights, and they stuck together which caused the fall.🫢🤭🤣

    • @MalcolmSoaries
      @MalcolmSoaries  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I didn’t realize they let Naomi walk over again!!! And someone else had a theory about who Christie was, thanks for sharing!! 🙌🏾💯💖
