      Ooh I’m so pleased!! My advice would be definitely toile it in as close a fabric type to the real fabric as possible! Happy sewing and hope you enjoy it as much as I love mine. 🥰

    Your bag making fabrics are really lovey. I like to line bags with a lighter fabric, I find it is easier to find things that are in the bag that way. I think your "Shrek" vest looks very cool. I like the new style line down the front and the necklace really elevates it. The vests will definitely keep you warm this season. Thanks for sharing.

      Ah thank you, that’s a great tip about the bag lining, I’m not sure I’ll find anything in amongst the wild stripes I’ve used for this bag! 😂. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. x

    You will get obcessed with bagmaking, it’s such fun and a perfect way to use up scraps! I have made lots of bags for my small company which focuses on using preloved fabrics or scraps. I’m completely self taught, RUclips has been my best companion ☺️ I always use zips by the meter and cut it to the right length. To save some money on hardwear you can have a look for cheap bags in charity shops and chop of the bits.

      Ooh that’s such a fab idea thank you!! I’ll bet you can get some really interesting and unusual bits of hardware from old bags - will definitely be checking this idea out thank you! 🤩

    Love the top Sarah and yes sometimes you have to play around with how to wear them. Also your journey on fitting, was similar to a sleeveless top I tried to make this summer…the pattern said takes one hour! A day and a half later I got there, lots of adjustments needed ,but what a learning curve.😊

    • @sewsarahstyle
      @sewsarahstyle  2 дня назад

      Ah yes there’s usually a lesson to be learnt in every sewing project! 🫣😂. Glad you got there in the end, and hopefully if you make it again, it will only take one hour!! Thank you. x

    Will try the Amara vest again after seeing your versions, mine did get chucked after trying to take it in but your perseverance has paid off. Just made the Bestie and you can cut a zipper to suit whatever size you need, its a great pattern.

    Love your Amara, I think I have the pattern and am awaiting some boiled wool, so your sizing intelligence is very timely. Not sure I will have the patience to cope with the alterations though🙄. Is it easy enough to get off and on Sarah? Xx
    The curtain fabric with the bronze through it is fabulous and would make a gorgeous mini skirt for nights out 😉 xx

      @sewsarahstyle  2 дня назад

      Ah thank you so much! Just be careful not to take it in too much as the fleece one is definitely tighter to get on and off. If you make it too tight in boiled wool, you may be wearing it forever 🫣😂. Little by little was my method. I have now made the bag and spoiler alert I absolutely love it!!!! There was a great RUclips tutorial which helped so much. Reveal on the 31st October. ❤️

    I took 2" off the XS and its still a bit big. It looks fine with a top underneath with statement sleeves and a nice neckline. I love the fleece version but does it not fray?

    • @sewsarahstyle
      @sewsarahstyle  2 дня назад

      Yes I think I need some statement sleeves to go underneath, she says reaching for the sewing machine! 😂. The fleece is great as there’s no fraying at all! 🥰

    Hi Sarah! Once you make one bag, you won't want to stop! There are a lot of bag makers on RUclips, but my favorite is Jess from OklaRoots. Here is a video that might interest you where she is teaching 3 different methods to make bag straps. She is an absolute fantastic instructor from whom I have learned so much! ruclips.net/video/duNDZJk7-6E/видео.html The search portion on her channel works really well. I heard how much fun you, Cara and Angela had on your zoom call. 😄 I can only imagine their reaction to the first Amara. I love seeing how you turn patterns into garments that work for you and you are a star at accessorizing! Have fun with your crossbody bag and using those gorgeous curtain fabrics.
