  • My seals on my SeaStar hydraulic steering were leaking, so I replaced them with inexpensive Amazon ones! They work just as good and are less than half the cost! These are easy enough to do and you will save a ton of money, so don't be afraid to give it a shot.
    This is the seal kit that I bought.

    I like that idea. Takes a longer time to get all the bubbles out, but you don’t waste any fluids by bleeding. Having to have a container and filter back etc, it’s just a hassle.

    Great Job, Thank You. I did my bay boat a few years ago and used a Marine Tech Tools Pin Wrench that worked great to unscrew the seals. The Tool is expensive but well made. Re visiting this issues as I need to now fix the seals on my offshore boat. Thanks again.

      Thanks for watching! The cheap tool worked, but I can definitely see the need for a good one.

    Thank you for the great instructional video. I have the same steering system on my boat and it doesn't need maintenance right now, but when it does I can do this on my own thanks to you!

    Thank You for this video. I was going to pay someone to do this because I was afraid it would be to hard, but after watching your video, it looks like it's pretty simple. Thank You again. Can't wait to get it done.

    Great video! How are those seals holding up? debating of using the cheaper seals or just getting the OEM ones. Especially because I am using the 6345 seastar which exerts 1500psi. Just don't want to blow a seal. Thanks

      These are still holding up great! I even upgraded my motor to the 250ss and still have no issues. They seam to be the same material as OEM. They definitely feel the same, but I'm no expert either. Good luck and thanks for watching.

    Great video. This is going to save me a lot of money. I just noticed fluid leaking while I was on the water. It was a slow leak, so I was able to make it back to the dock. I bought one of these kits and the bridge fittings leaked like crazy. Got it from Amazon but they couldn't keep a seal at all. The part on helm was okay though

    Appreciate the video. Once the parts come in I’m going to tackle this project. My seastar is 11 years old and first time to leak. I did purchase better seals from five star marine.

    Great video thanks. Was wondering if I may need to do this since I’m always turning the wheel to keep it straight. Bled the system twice and don’t see any leaks. Your thoughts?

    • @maskedmanfishing
      @maskedmanfishing  Год назад +1

      I doubt it. If it's leaking you will see the oil somewhere.

    How come when you were getting the bubbles out by turning the steering wheel the motor wasnt turning? My motor was turning when i did it after changing the seal on the helm then i realized the piston seal was leaking so now i have to do it all over haha. Also how are the seals holding up sense they werent oem?

    • @maskedmanfishing
      @maskedmanfishing  3 месяца назад +1

      If your motor moved when turning the steering wheel, then your bleeder valves were not open enough. I'm still running the same rings on it with no issues. Thanks for watching and good luck!
