The “Lords of Shadow” games are in a separate cannon than the original games. This show is in its own cannon but uses characters, skills, and locations from the original games.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow was an attempted reboot of the series... Wherein there were quite a few references to the Castlevania of old of course. Castlevania Lords of Shadow focused on Gabriel Belmont who was an orphan raised by the Brotherhood of Light. I won't get into too much as the story is better explained through that game. This Castlevania Netflix series is not based on the reboot with the Gabriel Belmont Castlevania Lords of Shadow Universe. This is based on the original Castlevania Universe, specifically, Castlevania 3 Dracula's Curse which was Trevor Belmont's story. In this universe, the Belmont's oppose Dracula through generations. Actually, when the PS2 game Castlevania Lament of Innocence was created, that one tells the story of Leon Belmont who was a knight of the church along with his friend Mathias Cronqvist who was well versed in the knowledge of Alchemy I believe it was. In the story, Mathias' wife at some point dies suddenly, Mathias has a break down as a result and enacts a plan to manipulate others including his friend Leon Belmont, by abducting Leon's betrothed, so Mathias himself can abandon his humanity and obtain ultimate power becoming a vampire in the process as part of his revenge against God. Mathias, as told that game's epilogue, although the name of who he becomes isn't mentioned, he names himself lord of the vampires, king of the night. Or, as we know... Dracula. So, Castlevania Lament of Innocence was created to be an origin story of why the Belmont Clan are locked into conflict to fight Dracula through generations.

Yeah, toss Lords of Shadow out of your head. That's all basically a re-imagining of Castlevania by an outside company. This series is based on the original timeline starting around Castlevania 3 (NES).
One of the worst things about being burned at a stake in the fashion Lisa was is that you don't even really burn to death. To clear up some confusion. The show doesn't follow the Lord of Shadows storyline. LoS was a reboot that had the twist of the Belmonts becoming vampires. Gabriel became Dracula and Trevor became Alucard. In the original games, they are seperate entities.
Just to let you all know, The Lords of Shadow series was a reboot/reimagining of Castlevania. This Netflix series is based on the original game series' story. If you want to play the best Castlevania game (usually in most top 10 video games of all time lists) play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1/PS4/Xbox One), which you play as Alucard. Interestingly, the Castlevania series is actually based on the old Universal Pictures and Hammer Films movies and, though I can't seem to find any references online anymore, the Belmonts are apparently based on a French family that researched Bran Castle (the real Dracula's castle in Transylvania) and died mysteriously.
You guys at the beginning were talking about two different Dracula's video game series ;-). If I am not mistaken, this one is inspired from the 1986 first version, the one where Gabriel Belmont turns indeed into Dracula is in the Lord Of Shadow from 2010, which was an alternative story. The one I prefer, as far as I am concerned.
This show is set in the timeline of the Castlevania 3 game that came out on the NES. All the characters in the show are from the game, the only one missing in the show is the Fleaman pirate guy Grant.
Actually this series is a nod to the classic Symphony of the Night. A timeless piece from the PS1 era. Go and play if you haven't, you'll appreciate this series even more.
I'm so glad you guys are watching this. Quick note, though - this series is actually based on the old 2-D games. Lords of Shadow is it's own continuity outside of the main timeline.
This is how you make a strong independent woman, they don't need to be mary sues, but have a strong personality and some charisma will bring them a long way. I mean, she just stood up to dracula and she didn't need a million different plot defying powers to do so. Lisa is a good example of a good strong female character without exaggerating their character.
5:50 The Lords of Shadow's storyline is not considered canon. So Dracula's not Gabriel Belmont in the original timeline. This show's based on the original series, mainly Castlevania 3 on NES to start. Then it expands from there with a lot of its own brilliant things. Arguably the best netflix anime, hands down. Very excited to see more reactions to this series!!!
Its not an anime
@@maxpowers4436 Considering it's a western animation series (albeit an adaptation) and also considered to be an anime series among reviews/in reference to, I may have to disagree with you there. An anime doesn't have to explicitly come from Japan.
Yeah, yeah, yeah! So excited for your reactions to Castlevania, it’s a fantastic series.
That face when season 1 only has 3 episodes
So happy y’all are watching this series!!!!! Can’t wait 😭😭
Lol when they see "THAT" scene near the season finale😂
Here's the thing - we've seen what they're watching at the beginning of every video for a while now, and they've been watching this for a while. I'm pretty sure they're at least done with Season 1 if this is up now, so that they don't get spoiled by it.
Not saying to spoile though, because others might not have seen it. Just nice to know they probably won't get spoiled.
@@RabidDogma no worries bro spoilers aren't my style that's the reason I said "THAT " because people know what I'm talking about
@@F2P上帝 my memory is shit. Don't know what you mean even tho I watched it this year
May you tell me (but please marked as a spoiler for the others)
YES FINALLY YOU DID THIS. I'VE BEEN ASKING FOR YOU TO DO THIS FOREVER.
Bruh I been WAITING for this
Its crazy how Netflix gave us both Arcane and Castlevania, two awesome videogame adaptations within a few years of each other.
and now cyberpunk edgerunner
This is gonna be dope to watch, last season has best animation period but it felt weirdly done, not sure how to explain it.
As for He man show, pretty sure animation is gonna be top tier, story on the other hand idk chief.
Loved the games as a kid( used to sneak I my older brothers room an play the game when he would be out), this series was awesome, just finished season 4 last night, glad a channel with reactors I find entertaining, are reacting to Castlevania!!
