Dracula hated humanity before his wife, it was clear he wanted nothing to do with humanity but his wife convinced him to give them a second chance, he wasn't addressing the people at the burning, he was addressing humanity
The over guy wasn't afraid of the "farmers" it's more unwanted attention

First two seasons are good. Season 3 was pretty meh, from it being a lot of filler and a lot of characters being ruined. And Season 4 was somewhat better but no where near as good as the first two.
As for Nocturne? It can burn. They changed way too much.

In case if you didn’t realize, Castlevania’s Dracula (arguably the strongest Vampire in any media) is not you average Vampire. He is essentially the Vassal for Chaos itself. In other words, he basically the Devil or the very least the anti-Christ

yeah no, id say arcueid brunestud takes the cake of most powerfull vampire in media easily, she can literally bend reality to be whatever she needs at the time, and even while 70% of her power is supressed at all times characters often conclude "its not a matter of me being weaker or her being stronger, rather she's an existence that simply transcends something as trivial as having its power evaluated in the first place"
like she can beat goku simply because she can bend reality into whatever she needs it to be no matter how unlikely or even impossible it is, she'd win simply by changing reality on the fly to a reality where the stars aline prefectly so she can

    1. You are in for a *wild* ride
    2. This first episode sold me on the show instantly back when the first 4 episodes was all we had and show's future was uncertain.
Dracula in this is a near perfect adaptation of his character from the games and the voice actor steals *every scene.*
    3. Just for context, this show is adapting the "story" of Castlevania 3
I put "story" in quotations cause there wasn't much. Castlevania as a franchise is *infamous* for adding lore and context *after the fact* in future games and spinoffs.
To cut a long story short, this is them telling the story of Castlevania 3, but with the lore and context that was added in Symphony of the Night and Curse of Darkness.
    Fun fact:
Castlevania was the originator of Metroidvania games which as per the name, includes Metroid tho its funny that the originator isn't the namesake of the genre lol.
Also Dracula's castle in the games, on top of being able to teleport wherever he wanted could also reorder and restructure itself to an almost infinite degree, so it is literally *The Castlevania*

You know, an interesting dichotomy in this episode that I feel not a lot of people notice or think about (I definitely didn’t) is when Dracula is talking to the mystery figure he justifies himself by saying no one is innocent since no one stood up to the church and tell them that the burning at the stake was wrong. Then, when the mystery figure tells Dracula that his genocide is wrong, he is attacked. Kinda goes to show that it’s not so simple for the common person to just speak up against figure of total influence. It also kinda shows the blind hypocrisy of Dracula driven by his grief.

Yes! One of the best animated shows Netflix has ever put out. Let the journey begin!
The Castlevania series is based off the games, but I’ll leave the details as to not spoil the experience.
It’s such an interesting story with so many possible talking points. One of my favorites being the justification of Dracula’s genocide.
Yes, the killing of Lisa was evil no doubt. But what of the innocents? The ones who did not participate? Dracula says that _“anyone could have spoke up and said no, we won’t be animals.”_ - but at what cost? Is it really that simple?
Would you stand up to violence and hate if it meant putting your family and loved ones in the crosshairs of madmen? Madman with power nonetheless. Such an amazing series.

You mention how messed up it is for someone to take their kids to a witch burning, but that kind of thing historically happened all the time. It was considered to be both good entertainment and an object lesson for the kiddos: don't become a criminal or a witch or a heretic or whatever, or you'll be punished the the most horrendous way possible. Roman women often took their children to the Colosseum and arenas and between the big gladiator fights they would put condemned criminals into the pit with wild animals to be torn apart. They thought it was good family fun.
The Norse used to take their kids to watch public executions then afterwards beat them as hard as they could, linking the memory of the execution with the pain of the beating. Supposedly to discourage their children from committing the same crimes.

The belmonts are a family of monster hunters that pretty much were exiled by the church, (a major recurring thing through out the series) and when the family was exiled they pretty much became social outcasts by the community…… if I remember correctly the whole family line were hunted and killed by everyone….. so much hate was aimed towards the family name…. That they are now known as a joke…. So who you saw at the end hiding was a last line of the Belmont clan….. Trevor Belmont
As for Dracula he is most tragic and memorable character in this show.

Found this a week or so after the fact, but since they brought it up I wanted to chime in with my two cents. As I suspect our hosts know, the Latin for "left" is literally "sinister"... as opposed to "dexter", meaning "right", from which we get words like "dexterity". Ain't language fascinating?
Related: I'm not old enough to remember when teachers were forcing left-handed students to use their right hands in class, but I am old enough to remember my teachers recalling memories of it being a thing.

Castlevania is a beloved classic but this anime adaptation certainly holds a candle to the classic
For the entire first season its really hard to not feel bad for Drac since whatever little humanity was left it was taken away and destroyed
No matter how much humans hide behind god and religious faith, nothing ever comes out of it
I dont know for sure if the people who run the show are doing it just to showcase the true story of Dracula or take the opportunity to criticize the catholic church but either way the result is an awesome but very gruesome show

The lore of Dracula from this is not the same as Bram Stoker. Some elements are similar. The loss of his 1st wife is what drove him to become a vampire as a means of mocking God. After the previous vampire lord was slain he took possession of an artifact that he had and became the vampire we see now calling himself Dracula. This was only possible because he orchestrated a plan to get his best friend's (Leon Belmont) wife abducted by the vampire because he knew he was skilled enough to battle it.

You know Dracula had good reasons to do this, his wife was helping people and even told Dracula to learn what it means to be human. And what did the church do: burned her alive, accused her to be a witch, amd condemned her to hell. Dracula gave them one last chance to for forgiveness and instead they celebrate her death. Dracula was not the villain.

Except he is. He's a villan because he isn't just attacking the church nor is he stopping at that one city. He's killing millions of innocents across and entire country because of a handful of guilty. He's killing people who have no idea who his wife was. He tells the people that they could have stood up to the church as an immortal all powerful being who has very little he actually cares about. He calls humans evil yet he summons forth demons from hell and allies himself with vampires infinitely more cruel and evil than anything humanity could conjure. There is more than one villan here and Dracula is more evil than all of them
