Those lines are beautiful & the colours delicious. I'm in Australia & these are colours I'm familiar with too. I've just learned about Agnes Martin & now your work - inspirational, lovely. It's after midnight & I want to go to my table & continue with the lines I started a couple of days ago. Thank you so much.
I've so enjoyed this opportunity to see the interview - Patricia's work is captivating and to hear from her how her art has developed, and to see all that, was just wonderful.
I really enjoyed hearing that you dont know all the answers about why you do something,. That its ok to have ideas half formed and still be able to get exhibitions, residencies etc. I've been far too afraid to apply as i think i dont have my bio etc refined enough. I dont know why something lights me up and it was refreshing to hear you say similar. I just love the vibrancy of the dots Vs the neutral tones. I love following your progress on insta!
This was such an enjoyable interview Tara with Patricia. Your continual stitches are so lovely to look at as they line up and cover your pieces. You are very inspirational. I grew up around quilters, knitters, sewers, crocheting. And had done a lot of such when I was younger along with trying my hand at weaving. And lately I want to combine stitching with my paintings. Thank you again for the talk and showing your art!
Patricia, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about your textile work and the inspiration behind it. Love the sewn lines, recycled fabrics, your drawings, framed pieces, and the small practice stitch samples! You have inspired me to start small and see what happens!
What a delight meeting you Patricia! So sharing and driven by her own impulses and desires. What a great example of intuition and alchemy. “I was just having a lot of fun” ❤️ “I don’t know why, but I just felt called to do these lines and dot, making marks” ❤️”Endless possibilities”❤️ “Everything teaches you something else” ❤️ Imbuing her work with words, with thoughts ❤️. Kindred creative. I resided in Ireland for a year with my husband and our young son and worked in the arts, and lived on a farm, over 20 years ago. How beautifully reminiscent seeing the hues of the Irish landscape, those windows and peat log making. Absolutely yoga, breath, meditative, creative, intertwining. So glad I tuned in. Please, Patricia, what is your studio notebook journal? Perhaps this is a way to connect and be inspired through the threads of the world.
I have loved Patricias work for some time now and was so happy to find this conversation. Two questions: Is the Hessian sewn through with the design, or is it used as a backing that the sewn piece has been somehow laid over. If the latter, then how does that process go? And, the small test pieces look stiff as if they have been mounted on board. Can you explain what it is and how it's done? Many thanks.
I loved Patricia's work, thought process and energy. Thank you Tara and Patricia for this lovely chat.
Thank you so much for tuning in. :) xx

What is hexion? I’m sure I spelled it incorrectly 😞! Your work is wonderful! Thank you 🤗❤️
Hessian - made of jute fibre
Do you mean hessian or burlap? That’s what Patricia uses as a backing 👍🏻
Hessian is the material I use here
Very inspirational! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching x
