But he claims to be an actual survivalist when he's really just an actor. The things he did on the show were perfectly safe for him because he had an entire crew making sure it was. However what if a lone viewer decided to try the things he supposedly did to challenge themselves and was hurt or killed because they had no idea the show and Bear were fake? He should've just come out and said it was all fake and for entertainment instead of acting like it was all real.

Yes, it was obvious since very beginning and as it's said by Sunny everyone involved mentioned that. It's supposed to show you behavior in certain situations, it's staged but training is real.

I mean it makes sense; why would a company back a show that legitimately has the host in immediate danger every episode? That's just not worth the risk, so of course a lot of it is staged and planned out. Still better than most reality shows!
Thats my main argument for all of these "real" reality shows. These companies wanna make money, these guys are at work. Who in their right mind really thinks there are people getting followed with cameras 24/7 or that there are companies who go through weeks of footage just to put a 1 hour episode together. How is the series supposed to make money if it would really go down like this. None of these shows are real, everything is scipted up to certain point.

He definitely pretends from time to time. You don’t become the highest-earning streamer ever by being a total moron. You don’t just “stumble your way” to having a multi-million dollar networth like “haha so clumsy”. literally everyone knew it was fake even as a kid. we always knew that the point was just to show how to survive, no one really expected him to risk his life for a TV show, he does have a wife and kids afterall.

That's why real ones always watched Survivorman with Les Stroud instead. He legit went into all these different places with 3 different tripod cameras he set up himself and filmed all the shows with his "help" hours away sometimes. Pretty insane if you go listen to some of his podcast about it.

@@Zedd0z nah, anything that's been attempted to be debunked has already been disclosed by Les himself via commentary. There were a couple times where producers forced some things and he had to agree to be able to shoot the episode. Any of these times, he's discussed himself.

Man vs Wild is staged for sure, but this show was the bomb when I was a kid. What makes it scummy is the fact that it’s presented as survival advice.

It was a TV show made for entertainment, just like the vast majority of basically anything on TV. The problem is when the survival tips are wrong and could cause more harm than good.
Yeah I remember being told by my friends that he probably just went back to a hotel or something after recording an episode and this was way back when I was still in primary/elementary school. I think I truly learnt how staged reality tv shows were during high school, when a kid from my school auditioned for Got Talent, he made it through auditions but was never ever formerly introduced or shown on the show besides a few background shots.

3:20 X *really* missed the point here. The entire point of the show is survival in the wilds. If it would take him all day to build the raft by himself (as opposed to a team building it within a couple of hours) then that is important because now he doesn't have the time to do other things essential to surviving (like getting food).

I don't even care. I've been a backpacker/survival guy my whole life. It's so stupid fake in every way. It's great to get baked to. It's so funny to me this is shocking to anyone. He made like a kazillion dollars and dipped and he's only now being found out for like the 18th time and it seems like it's finally sticking.... but it doesn't matter anymore. He has so much Bear Grylls overpriced gear in every camping store across America - It's awesome. It's not fake gear. Just overpriced lol. Hats off to him.
