@@e.a.bfarms this past week we finished 2nd crop hay. It was ok. We just cut 1st sooo late, 2nd didn't amount to the greatest but enough. Corn is getting pretty close. Chopping for the pile in maybe 2 weeks.
Geez that stuff makes a pile of bales. I liked Amanda's raking footage. You could see how bad it was lodged but it sure was putting a lot of hay in a windrow. All of a sudden last week these fields around here that hadn't been cut yet got done. Hopefully your hay market stays decent. I think a bunch of people were waiting it out to see how cheap things were going to get.
@@e.a.bfarms Yeah there's so much hay around here even they'll probably be selling year old stuff cheap next summer. The shed is going slowly due to work going extra. As long as I'm not putting the roof on in a snow storm I'll count it as a win.
So once it’s really lodged flat, it’s really hard to pick up then right? Same problem cutting some third cutting Alfalfa yesterday. I finally tilted all the way down and it made a bit of a difference, of course but didn’t pick everything up.. so what are you noticing in differences between the steel roller machine and the rubber roller?
For a roll machine steel on steel hands down. . .Machine is 2.5 feet wider and still dries significantly faster. . .If doing just grass John deere has flail conditioner that's faster then either roll machine. . .
Frustrating to have that much lodged hay. Must have worked your mowers pretty hard. You’re far enough south of us (away from Lake Superior) that you can start earlier and bale later in the day. Makes big days for you guys. We didn’t get much second crop…too short…started too late.
Full support
Nice week of weather finally for hay. We are 1 1/2 hours north of you. Keep up the great videos.
@@dboutdoors06 Thanks for watching!
Oooof! Nothing worse than being close to done with haying and having equipment problems 😅
When you do enough acres you always have equipment problems. . . .lol.
Wow, that's a crap ton of bales! 😁👍
@ohrmundtsimmentals So many yet to make. . . How's things over there? Done haying? Corn almost ready to chop?

The hay market crashed months ago. . .lol How's the shed coming?

@@farawayfarm2520 When is that snow storm coming? I'd like to know so I can be done baling. . . Haha
@@e.a.bfarms I wish I knew that. Planting rye this weekend I hope. I might have to take a few days off for building.

If you think it is hot there, out heat index has been over 100 every day since May! I still love moving bales though.
@@chargermopar I couldn't live down there. . . Lol
You were probably going for max tonnage being you are only cutting it once but if you get to it before it heads out it rarely lodges
If you push the tonnage it lodges well before heading out, it's more the N that does it.

Finally under 500 acres left, it's going to be a long fall. Looking forward to your second crop videos!
