I guess you can compare him to other rodents and look at the heart in comparison to his body size. Not that I want to say that his is easy. Being able to check up so many different animals sure can be challenging I imagine!
As a companion animal vet, if the information isn't in our head, at least we know which book to open, and most of the time, exactly which page. But exotic vets are amazing. Porcupines are so difficult to handle, yet everything seems to progress very smoothly. I really am glad he is okay.
I had to go for an emergency gastrointestinal endoscopy today & they found polyps in my stomach. Jessi you can imagine how much I needed to hear Kemosabe's little noises today. He is so lucky to have you in his life.
He's the coolest animal with the best name. I love that it's not a major problem. I also like that he hates the vet that makes him normal a little. lol

Made me LOL. Your Vet seems to be competent about Kemo's health care....But I bet she doesn't typically gear up w/ long thick leather gloves when her other patients visit. So glad w/ this diagnosis...And thanks for sharing this!
How often do you inspect your ventilation system? sometimes as you have multiple ranges of environments and a cold exterior there would be a possibility of moisture/mold grown in the system. just a thought.
Since Dr. Card was wary of any new branches/smells/products in Kemo's environment, is it a good idea to change up all of his furniture? Are you worried about his new digs causing more problems, or do you have a way of introducing them slowly, or will you only use stuff that you know for sure is safe for him? You definitely know what you're doing, I'm just curious!

I get nasty hey fever, I hate spring :( but I have also found that I get similar symptoms if one of my friends or family has switched over to a different perfume or shampoo or shaving cream or something that I'm allergic to (I'm allergic to a lot of the compounds used in perfumes). See if anyone has switched over to a different scented product. I hope Kimo gets well soon.

Hi animal wonders I have had a sun conure and she isn't trained even though we open up her cage and didn't push it but still she has had no progress...but all of a sudden my dad can pet and play with her but not me or anyone else and he is barely around her. Any tips?You are a huge inspiration
In vet med we use injections for domestic animals as well. Generally the mask, like shown with Kemo can cause unneeded stress and generally going straight to inhalant is not recommended for safety reasons. So we use a quiet and dark room and let them fall asleep after an injectable. Which is easier with dogs than with porcupines (most of the time).
