As the sun rose on Sunday morning the temperatures did as well and racers of the fourteen classes readied themselves for a scorching hot day of eliminations (temperatures hovered around 100 degrees).
The premier class of every Man Cup event, Pingel Top Fuel, certainly had the crew chiefs scratching their heads as they tried to find a clutch and power setup to navigate the tricky track conditions. Advancing into round two would be a “who’s who” of the Top Fuel category.
Larry “Spiderman” McBride would face fellow veteran racer Chris Hand and the Redneck Express. Meanwhile, Korry Hogan and the Alwine Racing bike would have number one qualifier Dave Vantine.
In what looked to be possibly one of the better races we would see for the weekend, Hand and McBride were neck and neck at the eighth mile, unfortunately shortly after that McBride lost some cylinders and the Redneck Express took the win.
In the other semi-final matchup, the outcome was similar as both racers were side by side at half-track only to have problems slow Vantine giving the Alwine Racing team the win.
Chris Hand versus Korry Hogan for all the marbles, that was the Top Fuel Final and it was over just as quickly as it started. By the time they had passed the tree Hogan was up in tire smoke and the Redneck Express streaked away for the win.

That race doesn't qualify to be called a motorcycle race. With so many fixtures & add ons & hardly any comfortable space for the rider, how about simply putting a rocket engine in a motorcycle shell & shooting it horizontally with remote?
The rear tyre is so wide & the chassis is so low, that the rider would anyway not be doing much other than changing gears & throttling. 🙄

on leaving the line,both lanes had both stage lights on and both got a green.was it qualifying (were red lights or reaction times don't count,just the Et,mph.
I raced years ago, and remember guys like these taking their sweet time dinking around with shit, letting my tire get cold and my engine hot as hell.
Andrew Phillips a buddy of mine got screwed at a race like that. I told him to back up and re-burnout but he wouldn't listen. Tire was 86° F when they were finally both staged. spin fest ensued and he lost.

Whats going at 2:56? Why was that guy sitting next to the bike for so long? That other top fuel bike took off while the guy was sitting there lol.
I'm thinking they were both staged and the christmas tree started while the guy in the foreground was messing with his bike. He should not have staged unless he was ready.
Something wasn't right
The 'unwritten' rule is,once in pre stage any crew need to be behind the bike (or car)
So as it rolls into stage,only the 2 competitors and the start line Marshall are withing touching distance of the bike / vehicle.
at 3:13 you can see both lights are green. neither bike red lighted. Guy in foreground had to be staged ready to race, however, whoever is running xmas tree shouldn't have started it without both lanes being clear.
