As always, thank you for recommending it! ❤
I enjoy everything that Lucy does. I just started exploring her YT contents a few months ago. I actually heard her when she was 14 and commented on her page "what a lovely voice!" and she responded.
You have to remember Lucy is 17 here 6 years further along with training and her voice has broken a few years earlier and she has had time to rebuild and strengthen her voice. Martha is 12 and still in her child voice although it has broken since and she is just settling into her adult range now they need to be careful not to damage it by pushing to hard to soon.. They train with the same voice coach and I'm sure Lucy helps a lot also. But at 14 now Martha is looking to be Martha and not just Lucy's little sister. She is doing the training and singing with Lucy but making equestrian sports her thing at the moment. Maybe in 10 years she will change to singing riding science or some other vocation like the families custom built furniture business, we will have to wait and see.
Thank you for all the information. I liked their performance regardless of their age, and it is obvious that Lucy is the main musical talent. I'm glad that Martha also has something she loves and enjoys even more than singing and that they still enjoy singing together.
I look nothing like my brother but the difference is we can't sing. These sisters may not look, alike BUT boy CAN THEY SING and the best rendition of this song ever recorded in my, and many others opinion.
I'd probably still say that you guys don't look alike if I saw you / met you, which doesn't mean it's a bad thing. 😂 Of course, they both CAN sing, it's just that Martha is a little younger and I understand generally less "into singing", which is easy to "forgive". 😊
Hello Aleks, thank you for your lovely reaction on Lucy & Martha singing the " Prayer " well Aleks, Martha is nearly 6 years younger than Lucy so their voices will be a lot different, I think Martha was 12 years old & Lucy was 18years old. so when they made this cover it must be nearly 3 years ago. Martha is now nearly 15 years of age & Lucy is over 20 years of age. their newest sister covers are just so outstanding, " Mary did you Know " is just an outstanding cover they made for the last Christmas Celebrations. it was the 5th played video on RUclips over this period & you can hear & see Martha more grown up and a lot taller, please react to this song & see if you hear the difference in the sound of the voices now ?? Martha is a bit older. Take care, Barbara.
Thank you so much, Barbara! That song is on the list for a while now. I'm taking my time, but I will get to it and you're right, it is always interesting to see singers as they grow up and their sound changes.
Glad you enjoyed this. For one so young Martha has always been so good at harmonising, with her big sister. Also worth knowing that Martha only sings part time as she has other interests (equestrianism). If you react to Wonderful World you will see her horse. ❤
Martha is doing this just for a hobby. Lucy is the pro. Martha is into horse riding and very good for her tender age. If you want a more complete picture try ‘Smile’ with Lucy,Martha and their mom Louise, done for Mother’s Day. Btw. All their duets are gems. They do them from when Martha was 10 and Lucy 16. They now are 14 , last November and 20, last February. Heard Lucy’s latest? Enjoy.
Hi Aleks - Enjoyed your reaction - thx for posting!! I have always found this to be a phenomenal performance by Lucy and Martha - they really do harmonize incredible together. All of their duets are really great. You mentioned Prince of Egypt - they have a great Duet "When you believe" from that release/production that I would recommend you consider checking out. As far as Lucy solo?? Not sure if you are a Barbara Streisand fan?? If so, Lucy has done some absolutely fabulous Barbara covers - Evergreen, The way we were, Memory, Somewhere - Thx & take care!
Thank you, Keith! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊 Funny that I thought this one was from the Prince of Egypt (incorrectly, as I was later told), but I do remember the song When You Believe from that animated movie for sure. Thanks for reminding me of that one! Yes, I do like Barbara Streisand, so I added your suggestions to the list. Once again, thank you! ❤
Martha is five years eight months younger than Lucy. In the last couple of years since they did this she has caught up a lot in both looks and size. In this video Martha was sitting on a tall stool to bring her nearer to Lucy's height. The song was originally done by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, but good as they are these two are better.
Thank you for the information. Though I must say that's an odd difference in age between two sisters. How did that happen? Also, the song sounds familiar, but I do not really know it. Was it in fact in Prince of Egypt or was I dreaming?
@@AleksReacts Apparently it was done for a film called 'A quest for Camelot' in 1998. As for the Five years eight months difference in age you'd have to ask Jason and Louise (Lucy and Marta's mum and dad) about that. The important thing is that Martha was only just turned 12 when they did this so, only a child.
The Prayer is the last time that Martha has a full on, childs tone in her voice. In the next duet they do, that child tone has all but gone. Martha is growing up and finding her own path, and that is reflected (I believe) in the choice of song "The Climb" which is the next duet.
I will hear more by Lucy or both of them, albeit a bit hectic in terms of order. However, I believe regardless of chronology I should be able to enjoy the beauty of their harmonies. 😊
That was a great reaction Aleks ! Lucy and Martha singing 'The Prayer' is spectacular. When Lucy sings the line "We ask that life be kind" I used to hear that as "We ... stand like beacons" and they certainly do ! I agree that Lucy and Martha's voices are different. They harmonise beautifully but as you say Lucy's voice is bright and piercing where Martha's voice is soft and smooth. As for their looks it seems to me ( although admittedly I am upside down in the southern hemisphere and a long long way away ) that Lucy takes after her father where Martha takes after her mother. From what I have seen of them over the past year or so I am astonished that one of the prestigious Performing Arts Academies didn't drive up to Wigan and bundle the girls into a car and take possession of them ! Martha would probably kick me in the shins for saying this but I think both girls are so gifted they should have been trained in Singing, Dance and Acting from an early age like Daisy Ridley was. And never mind the horses !
Thank you kindly! Love your comment about being upside down. 😂 I haven't looked up their parents, but it totally makes sense and happens often that one child takes after their mom and the other after their dad. Also explains why one couldn't just by looking at them think they're sisters right away. I think that's kind of cool. I'm actually glad that one of the prestigious Performing Arts Academies didn't take them in their fold. Personally, I like all animals and totally get why someone would love to work with horses. This way Martha can choose her career or simply do both. 😊
You're welcome ! Genetics can be a funny thing, sometimes you get a child throwing back to a grandparent as well which can raise a few eyebrows among those not in the know. Yes playing "I wish" is pointless I guess. Martha just loves her horses and she is unlikely to reverse her priorities now. And who's to say that in the long run she may well be happier show jumping a horse than performing on the stage. And riding a horse is very good exercise which is no small thing. Falling off one can be a problem though ! 🙃
Yeah, genetics can make a bit of a mess sometimes. 😂 As far as their choices go, as long as both are happy with their own, I'll be happy for them. They're lovely young ladies - I can only wish them the best, whatever their path.
Yes we all want Lucy and Martha to be happy and do well. Can I suggest that even if you don't react to them that you look at the 'You Raise Me Up' and 'Say Something' Lucy and Martha duets first. 'Say Something' was the first duet they did when Martha was 10 and they way they interact with each other is wonderful. 'You Raise Me Up' shows pictures of the girls together when they were growing up and shows how close they are.
A big difference I think is that in this particular video, one sister is a young woman and the other sister is a almost a pre-pubescent girl. They get closer together in looks and voice down the road. ALL IMHO! :) Be well
It's often fun not knowing everything in advance, as learning more from comments (and I often do) is sometimes even more fun than listening to a new song. The age difference does explain the difference in singing prowess, although I've been told that Martha's interests also lie elsewhere, while Lucy is definitely more invested in music. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, that's the point of reacting for me - I learn new things and hear varied opinions. 😊
Just my opinion I think Lucy favors her father but I also see her mother in her face also. Martha favors her mother. If you want to see their mother sing all three are on a Mothers Day recording of “Smile” Link: ruclips.net/video/kNDP2-q9NsY/видео.htmlsi=EQV29NnmBsBFkBbV. There are some pictures of Lucy and Martha at older ages together and they both have the same smile. Great review and please stay safe, healthy, and free.
Someone else shares your opinion and it does make sense. Not all sisters should look alike 100%. I do plan to react to Smile at some point. Quite a lot to go through in Lucy's repertoire. 😊
@@AleksReacts Yes, I can agree with you about siblings having different looks. I was just suggesting my opinion and I have been wrong before, a lot of times. I think the more you deal with Martha and Lucy the more you will see how they resemble each other. As a matter of course as Martha has matured, her voice seems to sound closer to Lucy. Martha isn’t into singing like Lucy. Martha likes horse racing and singing is a hobby. Stay safe, Jim.
Ah, sorry I misunderstood you. Now I get what you're saying. Probably couldn't grasp because I haven't seen their newer songs. I'll pay attention to their similarities as they grow. It's interesting to see a change of that sorry as siblings grow. Thank you so much!
Love this comment, you got me! 🤣 Ok, ok, When You Believe is definitely going on the list. Can't promise when You Raise Me Up will come up, but it's added.
Thank you Aleks, as always a very enjoyable reaction to watch. I love that Martha at such a young age (what was I doing at 12 for heavens sake 🤔), has such a strong but warm toned background support for Lucy’s… as you said… bell-like clear tones. Although Martha can also produce.. and hold, her own tone with a beautiful angelic ring, she tends to provide a lower register, a beautiful warm framework as contrast for Lucy. They work so sublimely together. Someone mentioned Lucy’s version of ‘All by myself’, I add my wish to that one, she sings it with her all, as always. People always mention Celine Dion’s version, which I was not familiar with and upon watching, am not a fan of…too ‘hard’ on the ears for me. I am more familiar with Eric Carmen’s version from the 70’s. Lucy however, gives the most to it, including a tear to anyone’s eye who may relate I’m sure. Thanks again!
Thank you kindly! ❤ Happy to add your "vote" for All By Myself by Lucy, especially since we very much agree on Celine Dion’s version being too ‘hard’ on the ears. Generally, Celine's color simply does not work for me, so I consciously avoided listening to her. All props to her for succeeding, just not my cup of tea.😉 As for Lucy and Martha, they really do harmonize so beautifully. I love how Martha knowing that this is a career for Lucy, while she's not that interested in pursuing it lends her support and does what a sister should - helps her sister instead of competing.
@@AleksReacts Oh, we do concur! Celine is not my cup of tea, coffee or whiskey for that matter😜 Yes, you are right in that Martha does not compete but supports, you will see as you manage to get to more of their duets, especially their earlier ones, that Martha has always adored her sister and really looks up to her. Their duet ‘you raise me up’ makes this very apparent. I look forward to your discoveries Aleks, and also think you are amazing to respond to everyone’s messages with such detail. Thank you, as always.
Thank you so much! Seems we fully agree on everything related to these young ladies. It's very beautiful to see such a positive relationship and family values. So many things are rare these days and need to be cherished when noticed. I am happy to keep responding to everyone's comment as long as it is possible. 😊 Thank you for noticing that and for your support! ❤
Beautiful interpretation of the Thomas sisters; brilliant and perfect Lucy. You are right Aleks, the harmonies are to give you goosebumps. I always liked the legendary interpretation of Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion (I don't know if they are the authors). I suggest another cover by Marcelito Pomoy...a Filipino who, at the very least, will surprise you a lot. I believe that the Philippines is the country that has the best voices per square meter. This statement is not excessive. With time you will see it. Thank you for your reaction to this two angels.
Thank you so much! The song is familiar, but I really can't say I know it. I wrote up the suggestion and will try to add Marcelito Pomoy to the roster in time. 🙂
@@AleksReacts I rectify; first Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion, then Marcelito Pomoy... to make it more shocking. In that order. And if it can be in a reaction, the better (To my knowledge, no one has done it like this) Apologies for leading you into a seemingly confusing mess. Also, as always, you won't pay the slightest attention to me. That's what I'm counting on, ha, ha, ha, ha. Thanks Aleks!
Wait a sec, I am somewhat confused. You'd like me to do a reaction to Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion - The Prayer and then Marcelito Pomoy - The Prayer? That's a lot of praying for an agnostic. 🤣 Also, I have 8 requests so far from you, and I haven't gotten to a single one yet. Marcelito Pomoy and Ren stand the best chance of happening before EOY, but I am not ignoring you - just going off of both the number of requests for one and the same song + my own mood when reacting. Everything you ever suggested is noted, not to worry. I'll add a new artist from time to time. THANK YOU for sticking with me even though I'm taking my time! ❤
Martha is 4-5 years younger than Lucy. As they have both grown older, there harmonies are stronger and stronger. Check out THE CLIMB. I enjoy your reactions very much! Also check out SMILE where they are older and do a fantastic trio with their mother.
Great reaction, Aleks. This was recorded a little more than two years ago, and Lucy had just turned 18. Martha wasn't yet 13 I believe. I absolutely agree that their harmonization is off the charts beautiful. Both of them have amazing voices in their own right, but I'm not a massive fan of either. That has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than the fact that the way they sing is not my preferred cup of tea. Great musical/theatrical singers are beautiful to listen to, but somehow I feel like I need substance somehow. Not sure if I understand what I mean myself, so I'm not really expecting YOU to understand either..LOL Anyhow, until next time, take care! Much love from Norway comme d'habitude ♥♥♥♥♥
I knew we'd understand each other on this one, given that our musical tastes seem to be similar. Then again, these young ladies are new and I can't deny quality. Truth be told, their harmony did induce goosebumps, somewhat unexpectedly.
There is no substitute for DNA when it comes to harmony, this is most likely the best performance ever of this song. This was released over two years ago, you should really check out some of their most recent videos to see how they have grown, particularly Martha. "What a Wonderful World" and "Mary Did You Know" are the latest. You think you heard this song before? My goodness, no offense, but sometimes it's better not to say what you are thinking. And NO! It's not from a Disney movie.
Thank you for your insights, Tim. I plan to check the ones you suggested as many others have suggested them as well. I have to agree. Sometimes it IS better not to say what you are thinking. No offense. I'm sure you haven't heard all the songs from every country in the world either... The whole point of doing reactions is to go outside one's comfort zone and hear new songs. Well, strange or not, this isn't the kind of music I usually listen to.
@@AleksReacts Aleks, you weren't that far off as the sisters did do a video duet ("When You Believe") from that movie, "The Prince of Egypt," and some cords and harmonies sound similar.
Checkout: The original Andrea Bocelli & Celine Dion. Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman is also note worthy cover. Then there is Marcelito Pomoy which will stun! Googled: The Prayer was written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Tony Renis and Alberto Testa. "The Prayer" was originally recorded in two solo versions for the 1998 film Quest for Camelot, in English by Dion and in Italian by Bocelli.
@@AleksReacts 🙏🏻😊
And if it can be in a reaction, the better (To my knowledge, no one has done it like this)
Apologies for leading you into a seemingly confusing mess.
Thank you so much! I will check out both at some point. It's a loooooong list, and I do keep adding to it based on suggestions. 😊
5 yrs 8 months!😊
Thank you again! Oh, I understand 100%. Beautiful singing, yes. Emotionally exhilarating, not for me either.
@@AleksReacts 🙂
I knew we'd understand each other on this one, given that our musical tastes seem to be similar. Then again, these young ladies are new and I can't deny quality. Truth be told, their harmony did induce goosebumps, somewhat unexpectedly.
Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli may or may not have done The Prayer...sometimes I mix up their performance of "Time to say goodbye Con the partiró"
It's quite forgivable. I've even managed to drag the poor Prince of Egypt into the mix. 😂
@mmarchman3907 Thank you so much for your understanding! I'll be sure to check that one out. ❤

Marcelito - ruclips.net/video/x462Hia_7hU/видео.html close your eyes to listen
Thank you for all of this! It seems I either watched a movie I don't remember well or I dreamed up a song in another movie. At least I'm never bored. 🙂 I will check out all three, but likely react only to Marcelito's version
@@AleksReacts The best version is of course, that of Lara Fabian and Michalel Bolton, i think you already have the link😊
Yup, that's the one that either supposed to give me a sense of embarrassment for Michael or make me laugh. I even have your comment written up: "Live at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, 2010".
@@AleksReacts Exactly, but Lara and Michael's voices are really wonderful.
@@AleksReacts I'll be waiting for your reaction to Marcelito...with the list of requests I see on your spreadsheet, I might have to wait a decade!!
