We were searching for this episode after watching the preceding 26. We are boating people but not sailors & have enjoyed every episode immensely. The photography, the places visited ,the lifestyle on the boat & even the music makes for an entertaining & informative series of programmes that are very professionally produced. We ( my partner is Austrian & I am English) live on lake Attersee in Austria so boating conditions are somewhat more sedate than you have experienced ! Thanks for the many enjoyable evenings spent watching your excellent programmes & we look forward to more. Paul & Astrid.
Thanks Paul & Astrid, If we weren't sailing around the world I would want to live somewhere like Lake Attersee. Sailing in the summer and skiing in the winter. My idea of heaven! Steve
Venice is on the list of must-see places. I've been close a couple times, but I did not take the time to visit. I look forward to your reports from there.
At the beginning of the video. The ruins are in SUKOSAN. My family’s home and my next year’s destination once I finish restoring my boat. So cool to see you visited my place .
Beautiful video and so happy to see someone sail to my birth city Zadar. I'm living in Australia now and my dream is to sail from Sydney to Zadar. Once I talk my wife into it :)
Well, Judy and Steve, you finally reached Venice. Please keep sharing your fantastic videos this authum and winter and enjoy the sun while the Northern part of Europe is icy and cold. Bring us that energy like you normaly do!
Such a pleasant and peaceful change from our American sailing videos. Me and my daughter enjoy your videos. Sailing the Mediterranean looks like a dream. My family live and travel in our Motorcoach Bus and currently in the Desert of US.
Very impressed with Croatia. Have heard good things but seeing is believing. Apparently they’re currentlythe only EU country willing to accept US visitors. Of course just getting there is another vast hurdle to overcome. With any luck toward the end of January we’ll be able to begin the process of reengaging with our friends in Europe. Fingers crossed. All the best to you both. Your videos are both highly informative and entertaining. Not an easy balance to achieve. Looking forward to your insights on the Venetians. Felice per te. Ciao.
Frech goatcheese is nice on a biscuit with honny in to the hot oven for some minutes fresh rosmary and a splash of calvados on.......is that a winner as you sip a glas of very cold wine! Rosmary you have free on the shore! Barbro Sweden
@@svfairisle If you could get Borholms rye biscuits, flaky and buttery it is the best. Only look in the oven the wohle times because it burns very fast. Chevre in roll or ather goatcheese! Hope it tastes. Faire winds, looking forward for Venice! Barbro Sweden
Noticed that the right audio channel was missing during your last part of the video (21:26 on) - mic problems? Looking forward to revisiting Venice through your eyes!!
You have beat my record on fish caught! I have caught 2 small fish in three years of cruising. Both were out in the middle of the ocean and I somehow caught a tiny fish (it did make for lunch but we needed a big side dish to call it a meal).
Sailing Fair Isle I do petrol for the outboard as well. We have an air cooled Honda 2.3. It’s light enough that Maddie can pick it up and runs fast enough to get us to shore. I’ve obviously been bitten by the electric bug on boats (with our electric inboard on our sailboat) but I’m not convinced with outboards yet.
Bob_the_Bomb that’s a long stint, can’t be easy in that job. We were there for the Kosovan war rather than the Bosnian, took a while for that region to sort themselves out and sadly will take generations to really get over it, conflict causes so many problems down the line
Hi you two, hope things are good over there and you're keeping safe. We will be watching your videos for tips on where to go. We will probably come across in 2 years.
I have put a hose on the outlet to blow the 'bits' out without having to dismantle the heat exchanger , Iv sucked in fish eating the weeds twice , completely stopped any water , Ha sailing , cruising never know what's over the horizon .. Great vid . Beautiful part of the Med. Wondering the price for a berth in Venice .
Certosa is a bit more than we were paying in Cartagena at just over €4000 for 5 months, most other marinas around here are double that. Certosa is a relatively new marina and is trying to attract cruising boats most of which don't seem to come this far North in the Adriatic. I think its excellent value. To rent an apartment in the position we have and with our view would probably cost that per week!
You really managed to match the pictorial content with the music in this episode. You are so professional, both as cruisers as well to tell your story.
One thing i do re blocked cooling water inlet i have long stick (well old length of fishing rod right size) which i push down hose to open seacock to clear out blockage from top. Obviously inlet hose is above waterline

What a great place to winter. Looks amazing. I guess we won't be getting any notifications of you moving via Noforeignland (ps, we're not stalking lol)
From Isle of Wight - I enjoyed this video even more than usual as it covered so many aspects of life at sea and on land and connections with family. Thank you. Given the covid testing "crisis" here in UK, the testing process on reaching Venice appeared prompt and efficient. Was it so?
Absolutely, we listen to British radio head in hands! We arrived at Certosa marina (having had to change the arrival time twice as sailing conditions changed) They took us to the testing centre at the airport in a water taxi as you saw. We were tested within 5 minutes and had the results after 40 minutes and were clear to return. The Certosa water taxi driver stayed with us and took us straight back. AND there's no charge for this! Couldn't really be more efficient!!
I haven't finished watching yet, but I just wanted to be the FIRST to say, what a wonderful video! Thank you. :-) And now that I have finished, indeed, a lovely video. Thanks again. :-)
Yes there are several 'taxes' you have to pay on entry to Croatia, it depends on how many people on board & how many berths you have and also the size (power) of your engine. Yes they want proof of its BHP! That particular tax is charged for the period you are there and theres a complicated system of prices for various periods. It's not extortionate (I think it was at one stage but they've reined back) We will do a video on costs of cruising at some stage and write it all out.
Sailing Fair Isle many thanks for the quick reply .....yes I knew it wouldn’t be simple lol ... thankyou again and look forward to the video , stay safe D ⛵️⛵️
Have loved your videos for a long time. Peacefully paced. Just one question - I had taken Croatia of my cruising plans because of persistent stories about extortion and intimidation from some members of the port authorities and police in the area. You make no mention of this so have things improved? There was talk from the local government last year of a crackdown on the more corrupt officials. I would love to add Croatia back onto my list of cruising areas and am hoping you may have some insight into any positive change from an area that had a pretty rotten reputation a couple of years ago. What was your experience dealing with officials?
Well the jury is out on that one. We will see what it's like on the way back through and I might rig a secret camera to show exactly what it's like. On the way up it wasn't too bad, but years of working in Africa might have hardened us to that a bit. The moment we came into Dubrovnik an official demanded 150 kuna for 'line handling' I just ignored him and said i'm going to see the harbour master. The Police, harbour master & customs were all fine there. But on the way out the police were extremely unhelpful and rude, no one was trying to rip us off though just making life as hard as they could. I think the trick they're playing is catching and fining people for not come straight to customs or not leaving directly from customs. Anchor before or after and you will be fined. We had to leave in the middle of the night in bad weather because we knew if we didn't they were waiting to fine us.
Hahaha! It’s clearly understandable why he never catches fish. Really too funny. There is a couple of full timers that catch many fish here on RUclips. Delose is one the other good one is the couple sailing Australian waters full time. They live off of what they can catch. I can’t remember their name but probably not hard to find. Learn some fishing techniques. Love your channel.
To be honest I dont know! The green line I have on my wooden reel is something I took off a hand fishing line, looks pretty strong, that goes to the paravane and then I attach the lure, which came with it's own 2-3 meters of test line so I assume thats sized for the sort of fish you might expect to catch with that lure.

Thanks Hans, think we might get some winter weather in Venice as well, but I don't mind that, sun is overrated!
Nice video, thanks
Love the fishing set up Steve.. any luck so far? Great vid!Hope you're enjoying Venice!! Love to Judy

Bravissimo...!!!
Steve maybe while you are laid up in Venice, you could take some fishing lessons! Great video and content! All the best Richard
I t will be nice to see Venice in the winter as it will be quiet ,having said that everywhere is quiet this year ,Croatia looked lovely
Noticed that the right audio channel was missing during your last part of the video (21:26 on) - mic problems?

Impellers and all the associated complexities is why we opted to go with an air cooled electric motor instead of a liquid cooled version.
Hmmm! except we've had nothing but trouble with our electric outboard. Thinking of going back to petrol!
Another great video you guys.
Thank you
someone taking the mick with the fishing tips lol, put a dog off the stern to catch catfish!
Love your videos, if you want to catch fish think faster movement, much faster because they like to chase the food.
Zadar was close to some of the worst fighting during the war. It’s great to see it recover.
Yes, Judy and I covered the war for ITN, very glad the region is now doing so well.
Sailing Fair Isle we may have been there at the same time...
We were there in the Autumn of '98, further North, based in Pristina. Were you bomb disposal? Met a lot of those guys!
Sailing Fair Isle yes, still am. I was there 94-97
Bob_the_Bomb that’s a long stint, can’t be easy in that job. We were there for the Kosovan war rather than the Bosnian, took a while for that region to sort themselves out and sadly will take generations to really get over it, conflict causes so many problems down the line
As always it's good to see a new video and a bit of Croatia, it's on my to do list and would have been there this year, hopefully next year 😐
Really well produced video. You are sharing some really quality travel content! Hello from SV Temptress in the Domonican Republic. -E
Hi you two, hope things are good over there and you're keeping safe. We will be watching your videos for tips on where to go. We will probably come across in 2 years.
Were up for gelati any time. Great film, love the sunset and amazing what they can do with coloured spot lights on the cranes!
Well done I’m so envious 😀😀👍
Hi from a sunny London. Nice video Guys. Look forward to hearing about wintering in Venice. Best wishes :-)

Oh one other thing best check your exhaust system the rubber hose can get badly affected if too hot i had to change mine due to water not cooling it
yup!
Nice video. I love Venice

Discos in the seventies?! You are still very young 💪 🏃♀️
Absolutely... the 70's, in my head that was a few years back, so can't be that old!
Hi Steve ,is it possible to list the tacks of back ground music that you use on your video’s again can not wait to see Venice again stay safe both.
The goat are drinking the pooled fresh water trapped in the rocks.😎
if you watch sv sailing sunday in greece a few weeks ago in a simular scene, the goats are actually drinking the sea water, wierd or what!??!
I think you need to buy a fishing rod!! :).
The goats on these island drink seawater. In fact it gives the goat meat a distinctive taste
