- The Z Wreck Jr. is the 15 watt configuration of the legendary amp collaboration between Dr. Z, Ken Fischer of Trainwreck Amps, and country superstar Brad Paisley. A master volume controlled has been added as a convenient feature to control the overall loudness of the amp at any gain level. It features a UK-made Celestion Greenback speaker for a dynamic and harmonically rich playing experience.

Broke down and ordered the head via Sweetwater. I'll sell a few things to help go towards the purchase, but you can't put a price tag on tone and that smile you get from playing an awesome amp. Cannot WAIT!
Thanks for entrusting us with your happiness! :-)
Little late to the party, but just placed my order for the head & cab combo - can't wait. Love what Dr. Z & crew are doing with their amps.
welcome to the family!
@@DrZAmplification Thanks Doc!
When this corona virus pandemic is over Im getting a zwreck or this jr.... Life is too short. This amp I just keep running across and it just sounds phenomenal.
Fantastically different to most amps out there, yet instantly familiar. Looks like I am gonna have to explain to the wife that 3 Z's are better than 2... I swear I will stop at 20 amps... maybe.
Awesome! Great playing Dave! Another Grand Slam for Dr. Z!
Just bought a new Z Wreck Jr head today! Hope to have it by the weekend if the weather cooperates! I've got a couple oversized 1x12 cabinets that I'll run a few different speakers through to figure out which one works best for me.
Welcome to the family!
I'd love to know what pickups are in that T-style guitar

Blown away by my new Maz 18 mkii, making the most of Mike is his prime of amp buiilding form. There's something I heard in my Maz I've never heard before and it's addictive, sure this is no different .
It would be nice to see a Dr. Z demo with a Rickenbacker, like a 360.
not a ZW Jr, but an original ZW, check this out: ruclips.net/video/TeXVHhN2I-U/видео.html
Pure heaven in my ears
Hello! This amp sounds so tasty! By the way it sould have effects loop.
Doc....Do I need one of these to complement my Therapy? - of course I do !! I sold my full Wreck/Verb/Airbrake as it was too much for the small concerts I was doing though it was a difficult decision. I now use a z cab 1x12 greenback with the Therapy.....I probably would just need get the Wreck jr head - though I like the sound of this combo. I need a Wreck in my life again!
Well I finally got the money together for the junior. I've gone for the combo. It's being supplied by Haar guitars from Holland. Wow.....that's a toy shop if ever I saw one !!!!!
That tax money next year is already spent lol. Z wreck jr. here I come. I'd love to hear a z wreck and an ems running together. I think it would be magical. Probably my dream tone.
Tried one of these yesterday at CME. Blew my mind and I'm jaded. As soon as I can sell a kidney I'm grabbing one.
love when some minds get blown. thanks for checking it out!
@@DrZAmplification You’re welcome. Thanks for making a simple, single channel amp that spanks. I haven’t had that much fun playing electric guitar since I first started playing 35 years ago.
@@seanslavin1974 right around when we started!
I’m so glad that they didn’t put an effects loop in this amp because then I would have to have one. I get why there isn’t one, likely for a purest factor but come on, it has a Master volume. Ooops
The way this amp is designed, a large amount of the distortion character comes from the power section. if there was a loop, it would be distorting the effects in the loop. The master volume is designed in a way that it is 100% defeated when full opened.
Awesome tone and demo ! \m/ What are the pickups on your RS Guitarworks Tele ? They do sound great ! Cheers
@Dave Baker
@Dave Baker
Right on!
Is the biggest difference between this and the Nova a second channel? Both sound great BTW
NOVA second channel has a thicker low mid and even more gain on tap.
Awesome. Thank you for the explanation. That helps greatly!!
How much different is the Jr than a Wreck with 1/2 power and a Brake Lite?
They are a little different, given the larger transformer, you will hear a little more high end. Also, with a Brake Lite, you will need to adjust the tone controls to compensate once you are on the lower settings, which is common for an attenuator. The Jr. has a very smooth taper and the EQ doesn't change as you turn it down. 90% the same though.
Amazing!!!!!!!!
I would be a buyer but in that price range I never understood why amp makers can't add a true bypass fx loop without compromising the tone of the amp. Come on Doc, I know you can do it. :-)
Every change in the circuit is a balancing act, and there is no change in one department without a change in another department. Also, to respect Ken Fischer's wishes, the Z-Wreck amps will never have an FX loop. You may want to look into a MAZ 18 MK II, they have very usable, quality FX loops.
@@DrZAmplification Thanks for the reply, I will do that.
Just wondering if the StangRay Jr is still in the works? 5th Gear by Brad Paisley has some of my favorite tones and I believe he used one of those in that album, correct?
Thanks!
I’ve been lucky to own several Z amps over the years, but the Stang Ray is “the one that got away”. Wish I would have pumped the brakes on that decision!
I wouldn't expect the Stang Ray Jr anytime soon, lots of things in the works this year. A direct order stang ray with half power is still available at drzamps.com though!
Dr Z Amplification really?? How do you do a direct order?
@@joepeezy4sheezy check out our legacy models: drzamps.com/info/legacy-models/
Then email accounts@drzamps.com and inquire on price list for direct legacy amps
@@DrZAmplification I was told by a dealer that I could not order direct. I pre-ordered the Jr and was now told it will be "a few more weeks." I hope going through a local dealer is not extending the waiting period. I ordered the amp the day after the teaser was released.
Great! 😎👍
Great sounding amp, but I have to have a reverb.
it wouldn't be a Z Wreck then! Check out a Z-Plus or MAZ 18!
@@DrZAmplification Awesome thanks.
I've had #004 for a few years now and it's an absolute beast. I was buying and selling amps every few months until this came along. I A/B'd a couple Z 1x12 cabs after buying the head and the G12H kicked the Greenback's ass.
great to hear you found the amp you were looking for. A Z Wreck Jr. with an H30 in a closed back 1x12 definitely sounds monsterous!
Can #BRADPAISLEY demo this amp, because he initially demo this amp for your company while on the road?
He hasn't got one yet but we will get him one later this year.
You can catch Brad use the Z Wreck Jr. on his performance at the Opry 95th anniversary.
Nice!
Will this amp ever come with an effects loop Mike? I've found with any MV amps that a front end reverb sounds horrible when pushing the amp. It also pushes the reverb. Any suggestions how to help? Can't wait to get one of these.
There are plenty of folks using reverb and delay in the front end of these amps. You should go to the Z Talk forum and ask on tips, it's a matter of using a lower mix than you would with a clean amp. There's no plan of an FX loop being added, it's just would not sound as intended and would lose the Trainwreck-eqsue sound.
Sounds really great! I can't wait to hear it in person!
What cab is this btw? I want a matching cab for my Wreck Jr. Head and I can't find the one you're using here.
It is a 1x12 Ext cab in blackout. it can be loaded with any speaker we carry.
Worth selling my Carmen Ghia to get this?
If you need a great master volume and that Z Wreck sound, then yes!
Meraviglioso! But I don't get what makes it cheaper than the bigger brother. I love Dr. Z sound!
It has less tubes, a smaller output transformer to match the dual power tubes (which is one of the biggest cost, the metal that goes into the transformers), a single tap power transformer (instead of the more expensive multi-tap on the Z Wreck), and less of the aesthetic accouterments (hardwood front faces, special tolex options), that helped us make it more affordable.
@@DrZAmplification Thanks for the very complete answer! I hope to have the opportunity to buy one of your amps, one day. Saluti dall'Italia!
@@danieledegiorgi9828 we have a dealer in Italy, 440hZ, they put an order in recently, you can call them and ask if they can order a Z Wreck Jr. and we may be able to send one out to them on their next shipment.
Wife says no. We are saving for our first home living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 kids in fire singed CA.
This is torture...
Make sure you get a house with a nice mancave and fill it up with gear.
Ricardo Lima Pereira in CA, I’ll be luck to have anything bigger than a shoebox! Wish me luck!
@@joepeezy4sheezy Good luck!
Love it. I've got the Wreck head and cab. No half power. Can the Jr still get loud on the edge of breakup tones? I'm talking about "I've got a loud drummer" situation. The Jr is tempting, very tempting because it's more versatile. I can see myself using it in any room. But does it stay clean and loud?
You would be best pairing it off with a 2x12 cabinet if you drummer really swings em
