  • Quick video testing the much more affordable and strong AF North American Rescue CAT tourniquet knockoff by Rhino Rescue.
I’ve heard people say all kinds of horrible things about any brand tourniquet other than NAR....but they are $30/ea.
These are less than a quarter of that and seem to be just as strong, if not stronger.

I've tried one or two of those, they worked. Felt very similar to CAT TQ's and SAM TQ's I was trained on.
I am very impressed by their products

I’ve been a medic for 17 years, and I teach quite a bit and teach people the same thing. Don’t buy CAT knock offs. However, that’s not the same thing as buying different models. And while similar to a cat, the rhino seems to be something different.

Yes, they are a real company, they supply medical gear to certain countries in the Chinese sphere of influence if I'm not mistaken.

I'm glad to see they are pretty strong. I work with alot of different saws and stuff like that in my line of work plus I EDC so my wife got me the 4 pack to keep in the truck and my work trailer. This makes me feel a little more confident that they will do what they were intended for if I ever need one.

What alot of peolpe don't get is North American TQs are insanely expensive
And yes it's lifesaving equipment, but it's expensive to the point that if I have to buy one I cannot afford it (I'm not from the US and the exchange rate makes this INSANELY expensive)
People saying "Don't buy anythinh that isn't from **insert brand here**, because anything else will get you killed" are the same kind of people who would tell you that any AR that is not a Daniel Defense isn't any good and will get you killed.
Thanks for the test. Was good to see what this TQ is capable of

Correct. I see where the caution comes from ultimately it’s a value judgement that you have to individually make

If u want to mix an AR which supposed to fire rounds accurately and without malfunctions with a tourniquet which supposed to stop artery bleeding then u r not persuasive enough for me

And most of dudes who don’t recommend people to buy knockoffs never said knockoffs would get them killed 100%, they just don’t want to take their chance on that just to save 20 dollars

Ok that's great. Probably not certified and thus nothing for officials but still a great alternative for everyone without a 700 billion budget.
Would be worth to buy a bunch of them to test, if the quality is consistent.

What? They are obviously certified. Do you even know anything about rhino rescue? The name is not a coincidence.
It's a very big company in Asia and Europe. Everything, even the little bandages are certified.

I ordered their aluminum one and they sent me this one, a couple chest seals and a pouch to carry it instead. I didn't bother getting my order fixed but I'm glad to see this one work so well. I didn't want to test it out and possibly damage it before I really needed it as reusing it can increase the chance of it braking. I'd still rather have bought one from USA then China though as I had no idea this was a chinese company till I got an email from them in chinese after I ordered. Just glad this one works well.

I've also tested 2 of them, they were able to stop blood flow easily and weren't deformed or damaged (still be careful reusing TQ's you have used). Felt similar to known brand TQ's.

Recently used one of the Rhino tourniquets to save a woman’s life.
I hapoened up on a head on accident where a lady had a femoral bleed. I carried one of the metal windlass versions of the one in the video. For the Vic being a heavier woman, it stopped the bleeding effectively for it not being rated as a “wide” tourniquet I’m impressed. I’d go as far as to say I don’t trust the NAR versions as much as this brand.

Nothing wrong with the Rhino TQ. This guy is a (*&E# and this test is ok at best. He should have applied it more towards the corner of the bench so he could really wrench it, seems like this "test" was to see if the windlass would break. There is more to testing a TQ than this, he also failed to pull up on the windlass before starting to apply turns. Looks like he is just a youtube commando throwing useless info on to get followers and/or views. There is equipment to test TQ's, same stuff that can be used for training also...not a bench from the breakfast table.

Everyone to his own. I've tested 2 of these and they felt very similar to CAT and SAM. If anything, they felt sturdier than a CAT TQ. You get at least 4 for the price of one other TQ.
They also sell IFAKs with other stuff. They are legit.

NAR has an army contract if I'm not mistaken so buying one means you're going to be paying government prices. Just a fact of life. Doesn't mean that they make the only product that works

You will never know the capabilities with you doing it to a stool. Unless you're trying to torture test it. There is zero give unlike human limbs, but from what I'm seeing this is holding up just fine. Unlike the Chinese ones from Amazon lol.
