10 years on... Tears gather in my eyes as I listen to this.
We were all Africans stranded in Johannesburg - Congolese, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Camerounian, Kenyan, Zimbabwean and others. No money, no jobs, no possibility to move to another country., and certainly no thought of going back home.
...but this was one of the few songs that brought us all some joy and relief.
Thankfully, most of us have left the hellish conditions the South African government and people created for African migrants! We pray for those still going through it to move to better countries soon.

This song was in 2015 and I got the chance to see the video that year. I became a fan from GHANA 🇬🇭 even though I don't understand the lyrics but its so spiritual. I keep repeating it. Fast forward this is 2022 , 7 years down memory lane and its still one of my favorites. I can sing word to word even after so long. I am proud to be an African. Eddy is a Gem. Much love. I have finally understood it and its such a beautiful song. It was more beautiful when I didn't understand anything though lol.

I am from Colombia. Many of us here love the music of Mother Africa. All that fusion of rhythms that brought us from Africa between the 60s and 80s led to the birth of a rhythm that we call Champeta. I listen to these rhythms and there are some that are very similar to the Champeta of the past decade and some of the current champetas. I hope that one day the good artists they have will collaborate with the champeta singers from here to weave those bonds of brotherhood more.
