  • 🇬🇧 At April 14th, 2024 I was visiting the first Classics & Coffee in 2024 in front of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart (Germany). Today's special theme were offroaders and commercial vehicles. This classic car show is happening on all Sundays during the warm weather season from around middle of April to middle of Octobre. I am not affiliated with the host of the event to produce this video - I am creating it all as my non-profit hobby.

      Guten Morgen Martin! Vielen lieben Dank fürs Reinschauen! :-)
      Der W116 schaut in Grün metallic wirklich super aus! So eine tolle Farbe bei dem W116.

    The Mercedes 450 se is a lovely green colour and the interior colour compliments it well. I remember when they were newish in the 70's. I used to see a dark brown metallic one locally to me quite regularly. They really were something in the 70's. Still nice cars.
    The MGB i'm guessing is a 1968 model based on the grille and slats of the grille ,the overrides on the bumpers , the rear lights shape and leather seats. which fits in with the number plate.
    Love the Volvo 850 and the colour. They have a lot of street cred.
    Nice early Monza Coupe.

      I also really love that green paint on the Mercedes 450 SE (W116) with the interior in the right colour as well. That's something wonderful back in the old days when they did such interiour compliments. Such things were also still done during the production of my Audi 80 B2. The inarisilver Audi 80 (it's a lightgreen metallic) of my very first car - actually my parents' car from back then that I got until the MOT was divorcing us ... it also had green interior. My current Audi 80 has brown interior - looking almost black by the first view.
      I can remember about the dark brown metallic Mercedes S-class from the W116 series. It was also a colour I've seen quite some times.
      The MGB is really wonderful. With these old chrome grills they're simply looking the best. The rubberlips are okay but chrome is looking more beautiful.
      The Volvo 850 in this typical creme yellow from that time during the 90s also has been a car where you was knowing to pull over to the other side of the motorway because these T-5R were really fast. I read on Wikipedia that the most Volvo 850 T-5R were sold in Germany. Top speed of them was 152.2 mph and 0-60 mph was done in 5.8~6.0 seconds. Something you didn't expect from a Volvo back then.
      The early Opel Monza also seem to become more rare with the years. Even the facelift is something I don't get to see as often anymore like I did around 10 years ago. I find the Monza as same as the Senator really great looking cars. It seems that the Opel Kadett C is seeming to get the most love, followed by the Opel Manta B. But these are also often getting crazy tuning stuff. The Opel Monza and Senator are more something for people who keep them original.

    Wow, that 450 SE in green is beautiful.
    Always liked those split-rim Lorinser? wheels on those R129s.
    Your 80 is in super condition.
    I really like the old-style number plates on that W201 at 10:47.

      It's really an amazing looking green metallic paint on the 450 SE.
      I am not 100 % certain but I am also thinking these are Lorinser wheels on the R129.
      My Audi 80 is looking great for the age. The MOT guy was recently a little bit complaining - I'll also show about the little issues on the end at the last episode. But overall it is really good looking. I've seen rarely better ones of them and the Audi 80 B2 is really a rare car on such shows. And most of the car is unrestored in original. So just the rear end got some restoraton due to an accident by one of the former owners.
      Yeah, the old DIN license plates with the clear letters ... the modern EU license plates have these oddly looking letters ... to make it more difficult for people to fake a license plate. Yet I didn't understand the sense of it because you can easily steal license plates from another car if you want to do some bad stuff with it. But well, on the other hand it makes the old license plates more valuable. Unfortunately you can only keep them as long as you own the car. So after selling you may keep it when living in the same county. And if you want to get the historic license plate (the H as last letter on our license plates) then you also have to get a new EU license plate. People wished to get an exception just for historic cars but government said no.

      @@BFDdrives Nice to hear your 80 is mostly original. I haven't seen a B2 at a show here for some time now.
      I'm not keen on the modern EU plates on old cars, it just doesn't look right. I'm surprised the government turned down the exemption. Here, if your car is over 40 years old, you don't have to pay Road Fund Licence (tax) on it.

    • @BFDdrives
      @BFDdrives  29 дней назад +1

      @@ValleyDieCast We still have to pay tax for our historic cars (30+ years). Insurance is a little bit cheaper because it's limited as a second car (so you need to have a daily insured). And we still need to do the MOT every 2 years. And you can drive into metropoles that usually don't allow some cars because of the emission level.
      There are also some historic cars with the red letter license plate - I'm thinking you can run up to 7 on the same license plate but you are only allowed to go to shows and to bring the car to a repair shop. But any other trip or stop like going grocery shopping can get you fined with the red license plate. The people driving with the red letter license plate are getting checked very often by the police.

      @@BFDdrives Yes insurance for classics is cheaper here as well but there's usually a limited mileage policy in place.
      I have wondered about the red letter - thank you for explaining it. I have also seen the plates with small numbers on the right - 6 months use only??

    • @BFDdrives
      @BFDdrives  28 дней назад +1

      Yes, the small numbers are seasonal registrations for the time from the top month to the bottom month. So most people are using 03-10 for March to October. This is mostlikely happening to convertibles and youngtimers (20+ y/o) or special cars like expensive US cars that people don't want to drive during winter. Well, of course the winter bitches are therefore very often 10-03. But I've also seen differerent months. As far as I am remembering you can do it between 3-10 months. It is not always an advantage. So less than a half year doesn't grant you the annual discount on the insurance. Also some cars won't get cheaper with it. So with my Audi I wouldn't save a penny so I keep the current registration for the full year.
