    As a Gen X female I just want to state that I think that Gen Z doesnt get enough credit for speaking out on topics like this. I think their points on this topic is on point. I wish that every young lady and young man blocks celebrities and influencers on social media, puts all their attention on loving themselves and working as the main character in their own lives so they can live like a rockstar. Everything these celebs and influencers show is BS, fake, staged, orchestrated to get your money. Its all about the benjamins for them. You are their consumer. Break the ball and chain, start building your own life in reality.

      I’m a late Gen X and I completely agree with everything in your comment! Enough with the narcissistic celebrities and influencers. They do not deserve to be worshiped. Let’s focus on those who genuinely need our help instead.

      A geriatric millennial here! And I’m so happy how this rhetoric has changed as a Muslim hijabi in NYC when 9-11 happened. The kids will be alright. Happy my children are not going to be traumatized like I was when America every10 years would wage another war on Muslim land (Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and now this).

    Never liked her... She makes a bunch of videos making fun of other women, stereotyping them, while trying to say "look at me, I'm not like other girls!". Super pick me vibe.
    Not only that but she's supposedly a well educated person, and she chooses to make this type of video?
    How out of touch is she?
    I think she knew very well what she was doing but choose to move forward with it, thinking it wouldn't affect her because she's super known for trolling her viewers. So she decided to expose how she actually feels about her privileges, mocking ordinary people, and thinking that she could escape unscathed with the little miserable apology video she put out.

    I find this entire dilemma very interesting. I sort of agree with the problems people have with the met gala but I feel that they are just hating to hate on certain celebrities, exaggerating this facade of how all influencers are the enemy and hate you. Its kind of missing the point since they say we need to not give them the attention but instead there is tons of attention now on these celebrities that they hate, just causing unnecessary drama when that energy could be better spent into trying to fix the problems.

    • @x77punk77x
      @x77punk77x 8 месяцев назад +1

      This all got so much worse with reality television and went further downhill with influencers.
      It used to be seen as odd/off to be obsessed with “conventional” celebrities; now people act like they’re friends with influencers.
      Gen Z is the perfect group to burn this garbage heap down - they’ve seen through it since they were children.

      Who the hell is even trying to “fix problems” when people are not only unapologetically addicted to social media and gaming and p0rn and the like, but content that only rarely, superficially, & sloppily covers deeper global problems, if any? Give me a break.

    This is the best analysis video I’ve seen on the subject. Hailey is just not a good person and she gets away with so much… She constantly steals content ideas from smaller creators who don’t make money like she does from social media and she never credits anyone. The whole concept of dressing as Marie Antoinette for a Met gala she wasn’t even invited to was despicable. She’s deleted every post and her fake apology and they’re filtering comments. I’m glad she’s lost so many subscribers.

    Unpopular opinion, I think many of the celebrities are just as stuck in the machine as we were. I’d imagine only about 1% of the attendees actually have the power we think they do. We can’t actually see the ones who can actually affect change.
    This isn’t an major conspiracy theory or anything. I just mean movie studio CEO’s hold the power we think their actors do

      Oh I’ve been seeing the same thing. People think actors/influencers have the power but in reality they are controlled by the people with actual wealth. We as people just allow ourselves to be influenced and contribute to the influence they have over others. If everyone just understood these celebs/influencers are nothing more than walking advertisements by wealthy people targeting the rest of the population then maybe people would be more conscious with their purchases and actions
