- Let's take a tour of the best suite on Carnival's best ship: the Carnival Vista. I give you a complete tour of a Havana Suite. It's cabin 5234, one of only four high-end suites like this on the Carnival Vista.
This Havana suite comes with a gigantic shower that's large enough for two people to share, and a large bathroom with double sinks.
The main cabin itself is divided in to a bedroom section and a living room section. It's significantly larger than all the neighboring Havana cabins.
The balcony leads to a walkway that connects to the star attraction: a completely un-crowded outdoor area at the back of the ship, with a pool, two Jacuzzis, and a sun deck... all for the exclusive use of only about 130 out of Carnival Vista's 4600 guests.
If you want to take a Caribbean cruise and have all the benefits of sailing on a huge mega-ship, but you like the idea of an un-crowded outdoor experience around the pool... a Havana cabin on the Carnival Vista is for you.

Just cruise on the Horizon September 15 and it’s an awesome ship. We booked the Grand Suite which also gives access to the Havana pool area and it was nice. It was like having your own private pool with friends. The most I counted were 12. The other pool was over crowded as we walked past it back to our Grand Suite. I am considering booking a Havana Suite such as the one you had for the 8 day Aruba cruise. Jim your videos on certain ships have help out a lot before I cruise. I always watch them and takes notes about the ships and things that interest me such as the location of certain venues. The Horizon did have a lot of people but not the long lines such as the summer months. I guess a lot of people are done vacationing and back in school. One again thank you for the information and happy cruising!!

Thanks so much for this review/tour. It's the only one that I've seen about these cabins that talked about the good and the bad.
Some of the people that do videos about cruise ships are given free cruises by the cruise lines in exchange for the publicity. Therefore, the person generally won't point out anything bad about the cruise ship or cruise line, since they don't want to offend the cruise line in hopes of getting more free cruises in the future.
On the other hand, I've paid for 48 of the 49 cruises I've taken... so I'm free to point out any good or bad things I notice.

It's a pretty great suite! Just plan to either stay up late, or bring some earplugs... due to the proximity to the band that plays in the Havana lounge.
We have also booked a cabin on the Panorama... for January of 2020. My wife and I had a long talk about whether we wanted to be back in a Havana Suite, or to switch to a corner balcony cabin on one of the higher floors overlooking the Havana pool. After much discussion, we decided that there were three things about the Havana suite that made it irresistible to us:
1. The super short walk from the Havana suite to the Havana pool, which is great if you're sitting at the pool and remember one thing you forgot to bring with you. You can literally zip down to you cabin and back in two minutes.
2. The swing on the patio. My wife totally loved that.
3. The fantastic large shower with the rainfall head.
So, what I'm saying is we booked the Zim suite on the Panorama, too. In spite of a few negative quirks, I still think it's the best cabin on the ship!
Yeah we wondered about the noise but we do love latin music so... We debated the wraparound balcony rooms above but decided on the suite as the patio and bathroom look great! We're in 5234 on the first Dec cruise! Happy Cruising!

Jim, did you consider that the rooms with the walkway also have lots of shade. ABSOLUTELY important on those many hot days!!!
Good point. And I should mention that when we booked our cruise on the upcoming Carnival Panorama, we gave it a LOT of thought, considered ALL the possibilities and the pros and cons, and ending up booking this exact same type of suite once again. While there are a few negatives, they are outweighed by some huge positives.

@@JimZim Jim, it has been awhile since I have been on Carnival and I had never heard of Vista Class until your video. That looks awesome. I suspect we will have some great deals cruising in the near future as so many will be afraid to go. I was supposed to be in Northern Europe on the Baltic cruise on Princess and they had given me a complementary upgrade to the Penthouse Suite....then canceled. Oh well....ha ha Hopefully my Transatlantic cruise on Viking Ocean is a go in October!

This is very nice. I stayed in one nicer though. Carnival Vista suit on the Miracle. Take a look at that one. It's on the back corners of the ship. Although...there is no swing outside...lol

With the shower head on the rail you can move it all the way up then aim it straight down so you can get the from above your head one probably not as nice but still it’s the budget version

Agree, I hate the balcony setup.
I book them for the simplicity of not having to rush out in the mornings to claim crowded pool side chairs. The limited access to the aft pool and bar is worth it for me. As of 2020, the access is now totally restricted to Havannah rooms only. Prior after 7pm anyone could come back and hangout.

The Mardi Gras will be an interesting ship to see! Carnival is still not revealing a lot of the details about it quite yet, but what I've read so far has sounded interesting. I don't have a Mardi Gras cruise booked at this time, but it's certainly a possibility later on down the road. I'm pretty sure I won't be one of the first people on it, though.

The cool thing about the Havana cabins is you are able to Request pads for your loungers.
The cool Balconies are the Havana Extended balcony in the Aft.

+Jim Zimmerlin, are you aware of any other cruise lines that offer the "Havana" experience? Meaning, a lowly populated pool area with a bar?
Norwegian Cruise Line has "The Haven" and MSC Cruises has "The Yacht Club". Carnival basically stole Norwegian's idea and modified it to fit the Carnival culture. But all the cruise lines steal each other's best ideas, so no shame on Carnival for recognizing a good idea when they saw one.

I’m going to be honest, I think the Royal Caribbean deck cabins (even over the park/boardwalk) are bigger than that. They feel bigger and are perfect for my family. Just think royal Caribbean is the better cruise line.

i just saw a video of the havana Cabana and i dont see the difference it has the same large bathroom 2 sleeping areas 2 tvs and the same balcony
You should include the cost for what you are showing. It would make it more interesting.
It would be impractical, because the cost of a cruise ship cabin varies so much depending on what time of the year you cruise. The cost of any specific cabin is vastly different in January than it is in July, for example. And my videos are out there for years... what a cabin cost in 2020 has nothing to do what that cabin might cost for someone watching the video a few years from now.
Really, the best way for someone to figure out what a specific cabin costs is to go to the web site of the cruise line and do a mock booking for that cabin. The best thing about that is that by fiddling around with various dates, you can see how the price of that cabin changes depending on when you cruise. So, for a higher priced cabin like the Havana suite you saw in this video, it's always wise to check out the price for various potential dates... and you will see that's it's possible to literally save thousands of dollars on the cabin just by cruising at a time of year when demand is lower and therefore prices are lower.

I am on the Vista right now and The Haven is open to the rest of the ship after 7 pm. I am in an Aft Balcony cabin above The Haven and it is open access down below in the evenings.
We just wrapped a cruise on Vista & only Havana guests have access.
Lori, the comment you're replying to was made four years ago. The 7 PM thing was the policy at that time, but no longer... as you noticed. These days the Havana pool area is only for the use of folks booked in a Havana stateroom, no matter what hour of the day.

Yes, much better to be a passenger than a crew member, for sure. Makes you wonder how horrible the situations that the crew members were in back home that made a cruise ship job look favorable in comparison.

They go to a 220v socket that is hard to reach. Even if you decided it was worth the effort to crawl way under there to unplug the lamp and plug your device in instead, you would need a 220v to 110v to make it work for an American-style device.
How much is this suite and experience?
Royal Caribbean's best room and Carnival's best room aren't even in the same league. RC makes this look like a regular old cabin.

Yes, you can put the third person on the convertible sofa. However, they won't allow anyone under the age of 12 in a Havana cabin... so if your third person is a kid, you won't be able to book a Havana cabin.
Dealbreaker I need an outlet for my cpap machine
I use a CPAP, too. It's more convenient when they have an outlet by the bed, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. A $6 extension cord from Walmart solves the problem. I always pack one with my CPAP.
But, if you do insist on a bedside outlet on a cruise ship, you should cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises. They have power outlets and USB charging ports on BOTH sides of the bed, on every one of their ships. Plus heated bathroom floors, too!
If your kid turns 12 the day after you board ship can you still book the Havana

Yes! Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line have both been really good about putting electrical outlets by the beds on their new ships. That's why I was really surprised to see that Carnival had not done this with their new one.
Anthem of the Seas is probably the best example I've seen where the cruise line really had a smart team of people designing their cabins. I noticed about four different little things that they had done on the cabins on Anthem Of The Seas to make them a little bit better. It is truly one of the greatest cruise ships in the world.

Nope. For more liberal smoking policies, try MSC cruises instead.

Yeah, I've priced that one out. It's about three times the price of the suite shown in this video! Not really a fair comparison... but I agree, if one had an unlimited budget, that would be a great suite to book.

As far as rooms go, I like Captains Suites better.
Oh, for sure, yes... but you have to consider the overall experience of being able to walk out your patio door and within seconds being at an un-crowded area with a pool, two hot tubs, and a bar. I've stayed in one of the Captain's Suites before... but in a choice between a Havana Suite and a Captain's Suite, it's an easy decision for me... I'll take the Havana suite just for the easy access to the pool, hot tubs, and bar.
Really, the best value for the dollar is to just stay in a Havana Cabana rather than a Havana Suite. But for people that bring a teenager along with them, the Havana Suite is fantastic because of the extra bed and extra TV. And for affluent people, where the difference in price is irrelevant, the bigger bathroom on the Havana Suite makes all the difference.

I'll be on one of their ships soon, so there will be a bunch of new videos coming about Viking, and the advantages it has over the other cruise lines. No crowds is the #1 advantage, but there are about 20 other things on their long list of advantages!

The best cabin is a grand suite, not Havana suite.
I didn't say best, I said most expensive. Best is a very subjective term. I would argue that any suite that doesn't have access to the Havana area is absolutely inferior to one that does.

We were going to book multiple Havana rooms for a family vacation on the new upcoming Horizon, until we were told no kids under 12 !! Whats that crap? They lost our business
GM That's the whole reasoning of the Havana area, so no unruly rug rats are running around unsupervised like the rest of the ship while their parents are taking a vacation from parenting. The under 12 crowd is allowed in the area after 7:00 PM at night, when adults are enjoying happy hour right before dinner.
