You actually have a very respectable profile and I think you underestimated yourself IMHO. Only thing maybe taking toefl/ielts instead, but maybe no difference in results at the end of the day. Northeastern is tops in u.s. for co-op opportunities. Good luck
If you are intimated with that kind of profile(trust me it is great), i have seen people with 8.5 GPA no research paper GRE 320, just months of experience getting into NYU Tandon MS in CS program.
I have been residing in the USA for over 10 years and currently hold a Green Card. I work in a mid-level management position at a leading technology firm. If you were to ask me in 2024+, I strongly advise against coming to the USA for a career in computer science/IT. Job opportunities are increasingly shifting towards India, particularly in offshore positions. Currently, there are graduates from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley seeking employment in the USA, leading to intense competition. Additionally, an interesting observation is that my American boss has offered me a promotion if I recruit individuals in India and form a team based there, as it offers a significantly better return on investment.
In my opinion, you have a great profile. Much better than me atleast lol. Please guide me through my shortlisting process i am planning to go to US in fall 2025. I am doing BE in Computer Engineering, CGPA is 8.54 until 6th sem, GRE - 310 (157 Quant, 153 Verbal), IELTS - 7.5, and I have a very small internship experience of 3 months, and am planning to do internship of 3 months more. Also I have completed 2 non credit degree certifications from coursera on Advanced Django and Machine Learning. I am planning to apply for MS in Data Science. Can you suggest me atleast 6 best universities, 2 safe, 2 medium and 2 ambitious. I am interested in SJSU, SFSU, UTD, UTAustin, UIUC, UIC etc but I am not sure which university goes into which category. Your help will be greatly appreciated dii!
I did my undergrad in Bsc Chemistry in 2021 and i secured 7.04 CGPA, after that i have been working in pharma company. I took PTE exam and I got 63 overall out of 90. Now i want to study in USA for master program in fall 2024. Please suggest me which University should I go for my master in chemistry because i don't give GMAT, I only gave PTE and i do not have any problem regarding finance.
Pls verify MS admission eligibility process, Bsc chemistry is 6 semester program, most of the ms admission eligibility is 4 years ug,so need cover one more year certificate program so consult academic counselor. Than MS program aspiring student should prepare for GRE and TOEFL or IELTS.
Hii,I am planning for 2025 fall.Would you love to be guided by you. CGPA-9.46(CSE) Duolingo-135 I’m quite inclined to NYU.Would you please guide me through its application procedure?
Hey sowmika, i am planning to apply for fall 26, i have graduated from btech cse in aug 24 with a cgpa of 8.97, i have a 321 in GRE and 112 in toefl, I also have one research paper published in an ieee conference and working on another paper, i am planning to get 1 yr of work ex since i am currently placed in tcs as a systems engg. Can you advice me on how to make my profile even stronger to get admits from some of the good unis.
Hi sister I have cgpa 8.18 and my gre is 299 and I am yet to take toefl what are some safe and good univeristies for computer science that I would get admit to in reality
hi sowmika, i m planning to apply for fall 24 i m a data engineer with over 5 years of exp (btech in CS and cgpa is 3.2/4 ) my Tofel is 119 and GRE is 323 i dont have any LOR or research papers. given this profile how do you rate my chances of getting in North eastern , i m also very confused about the specialization as in ms in ds or cs , i started as a software developer and around 3 years back i switched to data engineering ( working as a senior DE now ) asking this question given the state of job market in US . i have DP 900 though. i am reaching out to you since i m very confused and would really appreciate your inputs. thanks.
Your profile is great! You don’t need to have research papers, your work experience & your projects helps you:) I would personally suggest you to get 2 LORs from your current team lead or your previous work leads Since you have good GRE & 5yrs of experience you can definitely go for CS (which is great course) or you can apply for both CS & DS (again it depends on your interest ) If you receive a reject & your goal is to study in northeastern, you can check out DA(under COE) course! All the very best 😊
Your academic profile and work experience is good enough to get MS in top ranking universities in US,but don't limit your application, Because of intense application pool, Good LOR makes difference.
Hi! I'm currently pursuing my Bachelor's in CS with a cgpa of 8.06, I have applied for masters in CS for 8 universities and i got a response from NEU (arlington) but i applied for NEU Boston. My IELTS is 8 and Gre is 303. No research papers and have 2 months of internship experience at TCS. What are my chances of getting into (UTA, UVA, UCB, TA&M, UMB)? and also Please tell me how NEU arlington is?
Hi! I don’t know much about Arlington campus, but I would 100% suggest you to prefer Boston campus. If you applied for NEU CS(Boston) & really want to get into NEU(Boston) then I would suggest you to consider MSIS course, which is also pretty good! Sorry I’m not quite sure about other universities but do contact people in LinkedIn ( alumni or current students who is doing masters in that specific Clg.)
Not the kind of syllabus that a cloud engineer is expected to have , Cloud is basically core fundamentals of OS, Databases and Networks - which only CS MS programs provide. If you're someone looking at cloud from engineering perspective, go for MS in CS < not MIS. If you're looking at cloud as a platform , where other software runs and how to handle systems that run on cloud, MIS covers that. Chose wisely@@SKIPPER33

Heyyy
Which course did you opt for?
If you have taken ECE for masters , what was the course in ece ??
I didn’t take ECE, that was my undergrad course.
Imagine not wasting half your life to spend the other half your life paying it off.
informative
Thank you 😊
SJSU doesn’t accept Duolingo scores right?
Nah, I was from ECE undergrad. They preferred CS undergrad students
Any particular reason to choose NEU over NYU?
Not really! I just felt the Co-op & course structure in NEU is more flexible

Is Ielts compulsory for getting into NEU??
No! You can take TOEFL & Duolingo as-well
