Editing clips together to give the impression that it isn't completely broken and unreliable? Yeah, that's how you use it alright 😘 Show a full mission, unedited. Even the devs have admitted the lock on isn't working as intended and just won't work sometimes for no reason, but the weapon is an absolute beast when it does work, no one has ever disputed that.

Every once in a while you have a miracle game with the spear where it locks on quickly and one shots everything. Then you have every other game where you curse yourself for bringing it.
It has to do with terrain. This video has flat, open terrain, so he can consistently lock targets. On most other maps, you won’t be able to recreate this.

Works better on that planet less hills and obstructions and fog that could get in the way, I think fog and hills big obstructions and some other enemies(brood commanders) obstruct the lock-on and just make it difficult sometimes
Both lol if you dive to left or right you can actually make the missile turn so if the enemy is completely facing you, you can force the missile to curve and get that headshot I'd say it's mostly luck thu but also looks badass
That is pretty cool.. but wait, do ammo boxes resupply them? If not what's the cool down? Id probably run an SMG with this cuz I tend to find myself running away while my Rover cooks things down behind me and without a rover I would need something to be able to shoot behind me while I run.
Sorry about late reply I'm at work but yes you get missiles from ammo boxes on the ground or the resupply gives me a full back pack of missiles with just one resupply pack and I use sentrys to cover me while I take out heavies and the HMG can take out one entire shrieker nest
Field ammo boxes resupply one missile and resupplies refill 2 I believe, unless you have Superior Packing Methodology in which case they refill three. Receiving a resupply from a teammate running supply pack always gives 2 regardless of whether you have SPM or not

Yeah I wait for the charger or bile titan to face me head on or it won't one shot them although if you hit body it only takes one more missile to kill and a bile titan if you don't get the headshot twice it takes 3 missiles to kill, so that's why I try to get it to land on where I want it when they're turning making it really important that they're facing me, although charger could get shot in the rear below the armor and that'll one shot it as well.
It's better against the bugs and taking out primarily just the chargers and bile Titan's also playing on a planet with less things like fog or hills that obstruct the lock-on is better so you can get the lock-on doing the most and also staying at just the right angle and swapping between first and third person helps a lot the devs know the spear needs a lock on fix just have to figure the angles and planets you can use it on, I wouldn't recommend taking it to the bots because it's worse there by a lot sometimes or you get lucky 🤞
I got lucky there wasn't much dust or spore atmospheric causing my spear not to work, that mission was actually pretty good you might as well call this weapon the casino spear because it's a gamble but you'll know if it'll be good or not in the beginning of the mission 😂😂
Despite the slightest dust blocking a lock a full on dust storm doesn’t block it. I can’t see more than 10 ft but can get locks in dust storms. Big foliage doesn’t block locks but small bushes do…?
Now show us the half hour of struggling with the lock on it took to get this footage. Also, every time I've given the spear a chance it failed to one shot hulks, which is unacceptable when you only have four shots.
I have had maybe 2 out of 16 - 20 targets that didn't lock and I also play with a sentrys and orbital rail cannon I'm sorry if you can't get it to lock you have to play on a better planet and get a different angle
Depends on the map and atmospheric spores the less fog or dust obscuring the spear so if the spear isn't locking just run recoilless rifle I think they buff the reload speed
No, it is a one shot kill to the head for bile and charger, but you have to hit the head, even hitting the neck doesn’t do it. For chargers the butt also works sometimes. Spear is certainly the single highest damage weapon in the game, but it is hard to use.
Watching this many titans get splatted is extremely satisfying.
People shitting on the spear is an absolute win for us spear-enjoyers, AH wouldn't think of nerfing that weapon.
Despite how frustrating this weapon can be, it will always be worth the gratification when it works. It feels so good to kill things with the spear

I love the spear but god the targeting on that shit is abysmal. You could be 5 ft from a charger or devastator and it won’t lock on 😭
Step one pray to spear god step 2 do it during the day with little hills or fog as much as possible
Also swapping between first and third person helps and getting the right angle
Devastators cannot be target-locked by the SPEAR at all. The targeting takes practice but it is not random. There is a technique to it.

When it don't - you want to kill past yourself for not picking recoilless rifle.
It just depends on the angle your facing the enemy and the planet you play for the least amount of foliage on the map and obstructions
Yes, spear is nice against bugs, but less useful against bots. Mortar doesn't belong in bug missions though.
Believe it or not the mortar is more effective then the gatling sentry and has way more ammo that's why I bring it with and I rack up scores of kills

This video definitely edits out all the times where the lock on fails 5+ times in a row because the bugs toes are obscured by a pebble or bush.
