    Let me just say again that I'm so very happy for you that you get to enjoy this amazing property as your summer home with your family. The grounds are so ample, lush, mature, and private. Such a dream! Can't wait to see the updates once all the renovations are done!

    You're lawn furniture is absolutely beautiful. Grass looks more decadent as well as safe and it just makes it look luxurious without trying so hard. No matter what you pick it will be beautiful and I'm thankful to be following your journey ❤

    All green around the pool is much nicer, it may be cheaper but has more gardening work. The second option is lovely too, but nothing beats grass around a swimming pool. I do not like the last option, but well, it is just my opinion xxx

    As long as the tiles around the pool are non-slip when wet (for safety's sake), then whatever you choose is fine!

    The cane furniture is fabulous Claire…..classic and elegant pieces that will age beautifully….also love it in natural, but equally, these will look amazing in colour …the beautiful parasol is evocative of a time gone by and the perfect shape and quality to compliment 🥰 love the LV briefcase….there are some amazing finds at the markets in southern France ….I bought a vintage LV speedy 25 in Antibes a number of years ago…still going strong 😊whatever you choose for the area around the pool will be amazing…..look forward to watching the continued transformation of your beautiful home 😍

    O Claire, the garden is so beautiful. I would opt for the grass as I think it will cool the pool area down. It will also allow people, especially kids, to just throw a beach towel down and dry off or sun bathe. The furniture is wonderful and so appropriate for the area, even on the grass. When you’re done fixing it all up you should just make a long shot of the area for about 10 min with only the sound of the birds, insects, and breeze so I can pretend I’m there.

  • @OliviaAngelaTudor
    @OliviaAngelaTudor Год назад +1

    Grass around the pool is a lot nicer and more organic looking. Tiles makes it look cheap and more of a community pool vibe, plus the tiles get really hot in the sun which is very unpleasant on the feet. Not to mention wet tiles are a slipping hazard.

    Warning... you asked for opinions so I actually gave you some. You may want to grab a beverage and a snack! 😉😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
    Here is the long version: I prefer a substantial area around the pool to have a lovely pool deck and to be free of grass, otherwise your pool gets loaded with bits of grass, especially after a mow and all the grass clippings stick to wet feet and then are a problem when you want to pop in and out of the water. To me there is nothing worse than swimming in a dirty pool... and by “dirty” I mean foreign objects (grass, leaves, bugs, etc.) brushing up against you or sticking to you while you are in the pool or as you get out of the water. 😳😬😫🤨
    I highly recommend those pool creepers that continually vacuum the pool and then you can set it aside when you want to utilize the whole pool for a good swim or have playtime with the family. However, I don’t mind swimming laps while the pool vacuum is in the pool with me creeping about and doing its very important job. It can be easily redirected if it gets in my path. Please note I’m not training for the Olympics so my laps are not very intense and I don’t mind a momentary distraction to move the hose. If you prefer to swim more serious laps, just pull it out of the pool, swim, then push it back in. Easy-peasy and you always have a clean pool! 😁🥰😊
    More benefits to having more deck area finished in a solid surface (you may wish to research Kool deck as it stays cooler and can be less slippery than other pool deck surfaces and Kool deck can look like natural stone) is that your sun loungers, umbrellas and tables are more level and stable instead of sitting on the uneven ground/grass or sinking in the soggy ground/grass. I also think it looks best and functions better when there is ample space around the furniture to get in and out of it comfortably, with plenty of space for drippy little ones and drippy big ones to get in and out of the pool at any point without bashing into furniture. Also plenty of pool decking helps to provide a decent furniture placement distance from the pool for those using the furniture who wish to prevent unwanted splashes on electronics, clothes, shoes, bags, hats, snacks, etc. from those enjoying jumping in with a splash or having a bit of splashing fun.
    Finally, and most importantly, it is never a good idea to run near a pool and why it is a strict and enforced rule at most every public pool and most private pool owners realize the potential dangers! Wet, drippy people can more easily slip and fall near or in the water with potential terrible outcomes (whether on a pool deck or on grass), so it is never allowed... similarly playing in traffic is dangerous and just not allowed. If people want to run they must leave the pool area and run to their hearts content... but absolutely NO running near the pool! You get to make whatever rules you think are needed to keep everyone safe! Otherwise a soft, plastic, blowup pool out in the middle of a grassy area might be best for those who wish to run near a pool. But to each their own.
    The short version: I vote for plenty of surrounding pool deck to give you ample pool enjoyment space, furniture placement options for those not in the pool or not wanting to get wet or their stuff wet, and basically an overall cleaner, safer, more convenient, dryer and aesthetically pleasing pool environment!

    Just a stunning property! Honore is just precious!! The garden furniture is perfect! I think you’d be happier with the tiles around the pool long term. The grass is nice for now but I think you will eventually want times anyway- it’s a classier, more finished look I think. Whatever you decide, though, will undoubtedly be beautiful!

    Around our pool in Portugal, we have both, tiled and grass you need both I think. We have terracotta tiles large area for sun loungers etc etc, grass for those who just like to grab a towel and lay on the grass, you have room to do both. Obviously in warmer months the terracotta tiles do get hot for the bare feet, so that’s why it’s nice to have the grass as well. What ever you choose I am sure it will look fabulous. Looking forward to seeing what you do. Xx

      @@claire.chanelle like all these things don’t rush your decision, these projects are expensive, so give it some time to make a decision. Safety is always first. I couldn’t remember the style you called part tile and grass in between the tiles, like they do in the USA. We always decorate to the style of the country. So at home in uk. We think like home, our home in Portugal we choose more a Portuguese style. I haven’t been to France that many times not sure what they do around there pools. I known you will do plenty of research and I am sure whatever you choose it will be lovely. Thanks for your vlogs they are great. Xx

    Love the pool furniture. I would choose the natural travertine. If you're going to do pink furniture, I add a very light pink glaze or wash. Regarding grass, it's a hard no for me. Extra work to keep neat and tidy.

      I want grass but it’s the maintenance that’s scares me and only thing putting me off.

  • @sharynbeech7917
    @sharynbeech7917 Год назад

    Grass is nice and it looks nice in the picture. However, on going maintenance will end up making it more expensive than tiling. As it’s a holiday home unless you have a full time gardener looking after the grass, watering, feeding, and mowing just before you arrive so it looks good, you may come to regret it. When you factor in the travel time you take to get there, the last thing you will want to start you time there with is cleaning and making sure your grass is healthy and ready for you to use.
    Yes it’s safer for young kids, but they will grow. The area will be fenced and they will only be in there when you are around.
    I think the tiles will be just as pretty and a little easier to maintain. Anyway, these are just my thoughts speaking from a practical pov and speaking from my own experience. 😅
    I would go for the warmer tiles as well. I hope that has been a little helpful. It’s a lovely area and can’t wait to see what you do. ❤
