I burst into tears at that moment as well and it happened for the first time while watching a movie after probably 10+ years. That scene was truly emotional.
I saw this movie with my dad in theaters back in 2012, I was 17. I was depressed and drank heavily, my dad struggled all his life with living situations and jobs, but he found a sweet spot renting a fully finished basement in a guys million dollar home on the lake. I remember listening to this on repeat getting more and more drunk while also listening to the waves crash into the rocks at night. My dad passed away from cancer in 2015 3 months after i got outta jail from an 8 month stay. I miss you dad, I'm crying while listening to this thinking about that night, I remember you had a fire going out back and wanted to talk to me but i was so depressed and just wanted to be alone and drink. I'd do anything to go back to those days and try to change my life, i love you dad.
*Spoilers*!!!! The scene where Ryan Gosling's son is talking to the mechanic and than it cuts to a scene where he's cycling down the same road as his father with this music , moved me to tears . Like immediately , no other scene, just a this one. Terrific movie , really enjoyed it
This movie's about fathers, sons and consequences and how the choices you make will shape your life from years to come. the boy in the film had trouble identifying with himself, which is why he was misguided into doing all sorts of things including drugs and crime, you can't escape who you are through your genetics but you always have a choice, a choice that can take you further in life. For the boy, the right choice will bring him a brighter future, a future that will bring him to the right place, a place away from the sins of his father, a place beyond the pines..
BoySyndicate666 There is another great movie about Father and Sons coming up. I think is going to be very deep as The Place behind the Pines. Ck out is called The Water Diviner with Russel Crowe
Fun fact. This is actually what I refer to as my "Come down song". As someone who suffers from pretty severe depression & anxiety, I use this song on an almost daily basis to help me come back down to earth when things get too stressful or too intense. It works for me most of the time, and I am deeply in this songs debt for that. Means a lot to me.
Same brother...I used to listen to it when the trailer came out, I was pretty young back then and I just saw a scene from the movie and immediately remembered this masterpiece of a score and searched it up. So damn soothing and beautful
I was reading your comment while something hit my arm. I realized it was a single tear than two than three. I watched this movie with my family and it made me think how lucky I am to have a father and not just a father but a loving father much like the step father of Ryan goslings character’s son. I can’t help but cry that there is people that haven’t felt the love of a father. I dont cry out of pity but I cry out of agony of what they might feel.
they filmed this movie in my hometown (and it is kind of shithole, just like they show it), but every time I listen to this I get really intensely nostalgic. I haven't lived there for years, but this takes me right back. Thanks for posting this.
There is something special about this music that makes you think..about the past, the future and the present. At the same time it makes me a little sick, because i start to regret things, that I've done or what's worse, the things i haven't done...crazy the impact of some melodic sound.
David Jung its when Ryan gosling character is first introduced to the camper that he is staying in and when his son grows up and finds the same trailer
This movie is amazing, even though Ryan was killed off early, his character luke's spirit was still felt through out the movie and it jus sends chills through out me and how he died just wanting to provide for his kid after all the bad shit he went through.Damn idk i know its just a movie to some but fuck idk this movie is just amazing and this soundtrack is perfect for it. It almost kinda keeps lukes spirit going through out the movie. Soo sad and depressing yet so beautiful. One of the best movies ive seen.
ever since i saw the film it has had an impact on me and that everything in life comes with consequences. I will never forget this film even if everyone else does.
when he's talkin to jason, as soon as he said "i can show you some more stuff... if you want", i literally burst into floods of tears. my heart ached for an hour, just the desperate loneliness of his character absolutely killed me. even just from the fact he and gosling only had a few scenes together, their connection made that film one of my favourites.
This song gets me closer to the spiritual world more than anything else. I just sit back, light up the hookah, and relax. I think about all the bad, all the good, look up at the stars, pray, or anything else. This is what I imagine with, this is what I cry with, this song is a pathway to the heavens. This is my anthem.
To whoever created this song/soundtrack/sound - I thank you. This was a targeted film with it's effect, but it hit me very hard. I hardly knew my father growing up in upstate NY. This is real. This hurts. The movie was only enhanced by this work. Bravo. I hope things go well for you in the future. The 80/90s of a summer NY experience are captured well here. Cheers.
Fantômas! 🙏 Or how about just: Mike Patton of Mike fucking Patton! The wide range of music he's produced and released is the most diverse and eclectic catalog of any musician I've ever know of or encountered before. And I've been a music collector, student, and DJ for over 20 years. And of all styles and genres over all musical eras. To my knowledge, and the knowledge of my colleagues and friends, no single artist has the astonishing versatility and sheer variety in creative output as this man does. A masterful artist, a musical genius, a pioneer and innovator in sound, and every true audiophile's superhero. May he live forever! Thank you Mike! 🙏
This soundtrack is perfection. And is married to the film expertly and beautifully. This track alone gives me goosebumps, takes me back to TPBTP, and triggers a full emotional response every single time. Edifying. Mike Patton is a musical genius period. Sadly, he's also one of the most underrated artists of our generation. But I sure value, respect, and appreciate his works to the fullest. They will live forever in this ether, eternal and absolute. An icon, an innovator, an inspiration, and a true legend. We are forever grateful, Thank you Mike! 🙏
I watched this film for the first time 2 months ago, and I actually watched it twice in the same day. This film had such a huge impact on me, and is now one of my favorite movies. I'm buying the Blu-Ray and even going to buy the poster, because this is a 5 star film in my eyes. 2012 was filled with some amazing films like Django Unchained, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and many many more, but The Place Beyond the Pines is my favorite out of them all. (All of those other movies I love as well)
Yeah it's no doubt a great film even better, this film along with some motovlogers made me think about getting my first motorcycle a dirt bike, so I'm hyped.
+Austin Heedles You should check out the directors last film, "Blue Valentine" also. Derek Cianfrance is a unique talent. I expect a lot more awesomeness from him.
This is one of the most beautiful and touching songs ever to be heard on the big screen I would like to say a special thanks to Mike Patton for creating this master piece. This song has gotten me through a lot and means so much to me I can't even explain it all. I am also glad that so many people love this song and have seen it.
You touched my neck, I held the key, Above the bed, just you and me, The morning light, stretched out haze, Beyond the night and ragged days, We lay together, in tired sheets Outstretched arms, car backseats, Night swimming in the lake, Surfacing. I am awake…….
I have always wanted to be a director and make movies like this one, the music contributes to the movie so well I just wish someday I can make a movie like this.
5 years later and it feels weird looking back on this comment, I was such a different person then. To the few asking I’ll give you a little update. I have written a ton of scripts but find it hard to execute them. Going into high school I tried to change which school I’d attend as the one I was going to didn’t include a film program. That didn’t work out. I was left stuck on my own. Still, I was able to make some small films but finding other people wanting to help wasn’t easy. I’m a senior now, and I have been accepted into a few schools. One of those schools... for their film program. I still love film as much as then, but as I grow older more of the realism sets in. It’s a big risk to get a film major because if I don’t succeed at writing or directing films, I feel I’d wish I would’ve taken a different career path. So I’m stuck. Idk if I should pursue my dream further or if this is the end.
"I walk, woods around me, stars above. The soft moist ground suffocates the sound of my footsteps. Fog obscures the horizon. I walk. I am left alone, finally. I am myself, I am me. Every note emphasizes the essence of my existence. I am here."

***** Wrong i know the man that created this. He almost despises rap. The fact he can make someone appreciate his work even tho there into a completely different genre is truly remarkable to me. The man is real Artist he was the lead singer for the former bands Mr. Bungle and Faith No More. He is Mr.Bungle he is Mike Patton he is my friend and he Hates Rap music.
The ending made me cry my eyes out, how I grew up with no dad, and because of it had alot of anger issues and at 20 ended up in prison. This movie just made me think how if I had a better father figure in my life, maybe my life would of turned out differently. And also how getting to know my dad now at 30, how his flawed characteristics back then somehow still found a way into my own downfalls when i went to prison, drugs, crime, fast life style. This movie will always impact my life in a positive light and I can't wait to show it to my son when he's old enough
does this song make anyone else's heart fall and eyes tear up? puts you deep into thought? because it sure as hell gets to me... great song, great movie
it's just such a haunting piece. I need to find the sheet music so I can play it. This song has been taking up all of my thoughts ever since I saw the movie about four nights ago. Such a masterpiece.
This reminds me of my childhood. I'd play on my grandmothers Hammond, for hours, very similar to this. The low. The feeling of the vibrations. This is beautiful.
Makes me think about a good buddy of mine. The older brother that I never had. Taught me so much, was always there for me but never hesitated to treat me with tough love when I needed it most. Hope to make him proud one day
Ruben Gonzalez No it wasn't. It's an incredibly intelligent look into the possibility of reincarnation and how such a concept would translate from person to person.
This movie really helped me at this time in my life. I'm struggling with mental illness but for some reason this movie and song calmed me down. Something about the cinematography/soundtrack just gave me hope and the feeling that if I ever wanted to, I could just take off and ride away through the trees into a new land.
what an heavy movie but so easy to encrypt for the viewer. This kind of art is what 90% off all movies needs to have. A true story, a little fragment of real moments which happens sometimes in this empty world. Thanks for all people who made this movie. This movie will get a place in my good rare memories.
A truly powerful tragic and beautiful story that ultimately fulfills a sons love and desire to honour his free spirited father whom he never knew.truly incredible and touching
Just so you guys know a film score different from soundtracks in that the score is almost always an orchestral composition, instrumental or with a chorus. and soundtrack can refer to two things: the audio soundtrack is recorded sound of the actors and stage-action noise or the musical soundtrack, that is the songs laced throughout a film. only reason why im saying this is cuz Mike Patton did the score to this movie (yeah, that EPIC song from the 90's by Faith no More) that guy! musical genius.
Same with Bradley Cooper. I hadn't watched any of his films until this year and had just passed him off as a comedic performer because of the success of The Hangover. The first film I watched him in was Silver Linings and then this. I also didn't realise he had 3 Oscar noms. and now i'm gonna try watch as many of his dramatic roles as possible. (I agree with what you said about Ryan Gosling btw, I'm not sure that really came across (: )
PixOFHeaven thanks for the upload man, theres a reason you got so many hits . I went to buy this from the soundtrack but this version is better. hope your as big of a fan of the film The Place Beyond The Pines as I am ! lol
A might forget this movie from time to time but it’ll always be with me. This is a proper film, a masterpiece. This is art. I watch this when I go through stuff and is like time machine so I can ponder through my memories. I play this movie with girls and test their reaction, if they like it I know they’re a keeper. I like it so much I’m going to make the very long drive and see the locations where it was filmed. One of the best films of all time.
This movie is simply amazing. My cousin Birdnest came over to my house one day with a record player. I asked him "What's this for?". He answered "It's for you". Later that summer I found out he had breast cancer. He's no longer with us, he moved to a place beyond the pines. This beer is for you, Birdnest. Upvote this for The Place Beyond the Pines.
I watched this movie because of this song that played in the trailer... and oh yeah also because of Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling :p it was beautifull.
This movie is simply amazing. This song is so touching. The scene of Jason riding his bike down the same street as Luke rode on is amazing. This movie is pure art
I'm terrified of flying and as I got onto a plane for my last trip, all the way up until we were well done ascending, this is the song I had blasting through my headphones to calm me down. Also had it on when we were landing. Something so calming and relaxing about these 6 or 7 piano keys.
Every man on earth should sit down on his bed and listen to this in total quite with good quality headphones, it helps you learn about your self and it make is you think deep through your mind. By doing this I got addicted!

I agree. The high shot of him cycling down the road is absolutely mesmerizing. And it only lasts for like 5 seconds. Still incredible.
This film is sensational.. I went to the cinema 4 times to see it.. The scene with this song when he's on the bmx riding down the road is amazing

Jody Lester Your a fuckin idiot. Im not going to quote him because if you make me ill just comment a URL to a video of him clearly saying Rap is shit.
Josh Miller It's "you're" not "your", dolt.
Listened to this song for 3 hours and it seems like ut was written about my life.
Every patton song ever
It makes me look back on everything and everyone that ive lost throughout my life and tells me to stay positive and look towards the future.
I've listened to all 10 minutes of this song about 10 million times!
This movie will always impact my life in a positive light and I can't wait to show it to my son when he's old enough
nice
Excelent movie! The story was so amazing, I have no words! Ty for still making that kind of movies!
Damn there are so many emotions in this song I cant describe the feeling I get when I listen to it.
does this song make anyone else's heart fall and eyes tear up? puts you deep into thought? because it sure as hell gets to me... great song, great movie
beautiful movie! great mood, great story, shows how the live is not just the good and the bad... that's not so easy...
it's just such a haunting piece. I need to find the sheet music so I can play it. This song has been taking up all of my thoughts ever since I saw the movie about four nights ago. Such a masterpiece.
Favorite film of all time and the best soundtrack ever used makes me very happy thank you mike patton
This reminds me of my childhood. I'd play on my grandmothers Hammond, for hours, very similar to this.
The low.
The feeling of the vibrations.
This is beautiful.
Im so glad u took out the part that ruins it
📠
I need to know this song... Where it come from??
@@TherAlaiZ The place beyond the pines- Mike patton
One of the most underrated movies ever, and one of the most depressing movies ever
Yes...
This is the same Mike Patton
from the Altern-Rock band "Faith No More"
composing this music. Great job
I could listen to this all day, everyday. It's so soothing to my soul. AMAZING MOVIE AND SOUNDTRACK. Gives me chills~
i feel like riding a bike, in the rain.
after robbing a bank in a sleeveless Metallica shirt. yehhh
Dan Strubs kkkkk

+Nastia Schina ikr
Asia Dorsey please do
Thank you for sharing the song. The movie is a masterpiece. Can't remember the last time i cried so much...
"I'm still his father. I can still buy him things"
Borreguito como tu 🎶🎵🎶🎵
Makes me think about a good buddy of mine. The older brother that I never had. Taught me so much, was always there for me but never hesitated to treat me with tough love when I needed it most. Hope to make him proud one day
this movie and cloud atlas really show how the decisions u make can affect u and the people around you, great movie
Did this song remind you of cloud atlas sextet ?
Cloud atlas was stupid
Ruben Gonzalez No it wasn't. It's an incredibly intelligent look into the possibility of reincarnation and how such a concept would translate from person to person.
"You're calling him back.”
This makes me thing of what could have been….good times, but now the bittersweet feeling of moving on into the cold stark distance that is life…
This movie really helped me at this time in my life. I'm struggling with mental illness but for some reason this movie and song calmed me down. Something about the cinematography/soundtrack just gave me hope and the feeling that if I ever wanted to, I could just take off and ride away through the trees into a new land.
Mike Patton. Mike Patton. Mike Patton.
Sometimes I come back to this song at night and I can't help but cry. It brings back memories I didn't know I had.
im choked to know that Mike patton did this song ! a real artist !
what an heavy movie but so easy to encrypt for the viewer. This kind of art is what 90% off all movies needs to have. A true story, a little fragment of real moments which happens sometimes in this empty world. Thanks for all people who made this movie. This movie will get a place in my good rare memories.
Right when this song dropped in the trailer I just knew I had to see the movie with my own eyes
Had been patton fan since 2016, heard this in an ad in 2018 and was stunned once again
I find myself always returning to this film it's almost therapeutic
Dat movie is fucking awesome
+Kazhamania True dat
+Kazhamania Watched it yesterday. Those movies are the true and real thing. Every film where Ryan Gosling appears has never disappointed me.
Ikr
Very emotional movie to watch. Still have chills to this day thinking about it.
I remember the first time I watched this I was in tears , this film is beautiful.
"What are you looking at?" Love this film, Gosling's character I will never forget♡ movie brought the feels, man...
Best film I have ever seen! Never a dull moment and the music is just epic!
This song is as simple and as complicated as life. Same day lived over and over, but it works, just like this song.
This song...this song is so powerful. So beautiful. I could listen to it forever. It really captures the emotion of the film.
I can't believe that this video reached more than 746 000 views 0__0
RUclips is such a crazy world......
Variety is the spice of life.
Flaco Torres I have no idea on how to do that, sorry :/
But if you guys really want this song, there is a download link in the description ;)
This song is so simple and one could say boring too, and yet, so powerful and effective
Muna
One of the best films of all time.
this songs comes into my mind when I'm on my bike at night sometimes. Beautiful.
place beyond the pines. something about this song really gets me
This movie is simply amazing.
How I know what an amazing movie this is, this score brings all the feels from the first time I watched it. Aces
I watched this movie because of this song that played in the trailer... and oh yeah also because of Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling :p it was beautifull.
Margot Blomtrock the director actually wrote this script specifically for Bradley cooper and no one else
Dan Strubs Seriously? I didn't know that. Well he sure did the movie proud!

Can confirm, Bradley Cooper is a beautiful human being.
It's been a while. I saw this movie back when it first came out a bunch of times. Now fast forward and I'm still amazed. Wow 💔
3rd time seeing this film. and still in my top 10 favs of 2013.
Mike did a wonderful job. What a score!
My favorite movie ever. I love movies. I watched tons of it. Nothing touched me like this one
