CBS Radio Mystery Theater (a.k.a. Radio Mystery Theater and Mystery Theater, sometimes abbreviated as CBSRMT) is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed.
The format was similar to that of classic old time radio shows like The Mysterious Traveler and The Whistler, in that the episodes were introduced by host E. G. Marshall who provided pithy wisdom and commentary throughout. Unlike the hosts of those earlier programs, Marshall is fully mortal, merely someone whose heightened insight and erudition plunge the listener into the world of the macabre (in a manner similar to that of "The Man in Black" on yet another old time radio program, Suspense).

    Recommended but

    Including this one.
I didn’t get suspicious until when most reasonable people would, at the “reluctance or bidding performance “ for want of a better term.
This was a good one. Not overly predictable, good acting, nice ending as I was really hopeful for Mrs Mallory, but wasn’t expecting the one we got.
Thank you very much for this upload. I’m rather fascinated by the advertisements, too, and they certainly add to the nostalgic effect.
I’m old enough and young enough that family entertainment around the radio was over, but my parents et al still listened to some daytime shows, whereas my generation only really listened for the music and, with our parents, watched television programmes in the evenings. Listening to the best ones here on Chesterton causes me to feel we missed out on something.

Another great story. Celeste Holm is well known for this. She's up there with Mercedes McCambridge.

Good story, thanks. It was only me that I’ve been suspicious with Bellinda’s illness from the very first meeting? 🧐It was sooo calculable what was going to happen..😲luckily happy ending...

You were not the only one who suspected Belinda was part of a scam. This story is hardly a new one. Enjoyed it though, didn't you?
