@@TheRealRomansThirteen thank you for the nice comment. If you read my pinned comment you’ll see that you don’t need fire to process willow cordage. I did this as a project and not a survival situation. Hope you get out there practicing soon friend 👍🏻🔥
I get the flywheel. And the cordage and the pump handle. But I don't see how the up and down motion gets the stick and flywheel to spin. Wish you had shown the mechanics of that.
I got everything but htf you were able to drill a hole in the rock 😱. I LOVE rocks - but I couldn’t tell you what a piece of ‘flint’ looks like compared to a half a dozen other stones. I’d straight up be guessing. I didn’t realize it was so strong - sharp obviously - but strong enough to drill through another stone that’s not specifically pumice or sandstone? I need to spend a day on a pile of rocks with you - at least.
Thanks 👍🏻 except it wasn’t a lighter, it’s was amadou tinder fungus and a ferro rod for a quick start. Plus you don’t need fire to make a pump drill as stated in my pinned comment as you dont need to boil the willow bark and process it….you can just use it straight off the branch. Your 💯 right about the satisfaction, now I get to start multiple fires around camp with the pump drill which is fun to use and very satisfying …..like our ancestors done it hundreds of years ago 🙌🏻🌿🔥
If you could read my pinned comment pls friend, you’ll know that It wasn’t about needing a second fire (why would I need a second fire if a fire was already lit?) This was a bushcraft project to make a pump drill at camp and making sure that it worked so I can start future fire with it. Thanks 👍🏻
Is the satisfaction better in the second fire, or the first you used to make the things to make the second fire? This is the largest waste of energy in the history of engineering.
That cordage is immaculate dude. When I saw you take the bark off in order to make the board I was thinking oh my god is he going to make the cordage and you did. That was immaculate a very very good example.
Thanks bro. Yea 💯. I take the outer bark for cordage, use the inner wood as a guide to cut the cordage and then use that wood guide for the pump drill handle. Just try to use as much from the willow as I can
Yeah. The cordage is something I could use, though im gonna stick to the bow method to spin the stick. As its much faster to make than boring through a rock.

where have you ever seen bamboo that has a bark that can be skinned away from this core like this? Just wondering because who ever told you this was bamboo lied to you,
What makes the rod spin? IT'S OK!!! I just noticed the answer to the same Q posed down below. I thought that's the answer, but just wanted a confirmation! THANKS ❤
You're the only person I've seen that braids instead of twisting cordage. Yours wont break as easily s twisted. Look at the Turkish drop spindle for another take on the whorl (flywheel) for this. Good job, you got another subscription for a short!!
Hope it all goes well for you bro. If this short is to quick then I have a full in-depth video of all this on my channel if you need to see more at a slower pace. Thanks bro 🌿🔥

Step 1: Make fire with a lighter to boil the bark.
Step 2: Make another fire the hard way to get the satisfaction of making a fire.
Nice 👍

make pointless comment

Buy a Bic bro.

Bravo....make fire with fire

Dopest drill I've ever heard

Thank you friend 🙌🏻🔥
Teaching good stuff my man !
Thanks man 🍻🔥
I appreciate your bushcraft skills. Your cordage and rope look fantastic, bravo. 👏
Everything done to a T. A little overkill, but you showed the finest version of every step lol

Brilliant idea very creative ❤

Yea 💯 friend. Harder to make but a cool fire tool to have around camp
Pump drill
That's awesome actually.
Impressive 🇺🇸😎🙏
.... you're my hero
You must have another level of preciseness and power to make a hole in a stone without it breaking or even cracking!
Many. Good man😊🙇👍🏻
1 of the ways I haven’t made fire
Hope you give it a try sometime Ken. You don’t need to boil the willow cordage either, can use it straight off the branch and twist up. 👍🏻

If you go to the Harbor Freight before you go out to the wilderness you can buy a magnesium striker for $1.99. Small enough to keep in your pocket 👍😉
Nice idea
