I do miss Clive James. He really produced and made some great F1 shows and his F1 reviews of the 80s are witty, funny and informative.
I remember watching this on tv at the time and wincing at the awkwardness of Hill and Schumacher in that room!😂

I liked watching the duel between Hill and Schumacher on TV, and I confess, I've always supported Damon Hill.

What a great piece of history this video is, with a brilliant narrator, and…peace maker 😂

What a gent Damon is, a true racer with morals, I was gutted that day in 94.
Named my 2nd daughter Georgie after Damon’s wife in 1997, couldn’t really call her Damon could I..
My all time sporting hero. What a guy!!!!!

You can see Schumacher is very guarded here. Some people mistake his very German mannerisms for arrogance, but he is on the spot. Damon learnt an awful lot in 1995; he learnt not to play media games as it always backfired, worked very hard on his fitness for 1996 and got his head down. In many ways he followed Michael's example, and let the driving do the talking.
I don't think Michael dreamed it would be another five years until a title, but he had some phenomenal runs in the interim.

2024 and I saw this the first time. German TV always told us, they hated each other.

As a kid (7,8) i was liked Hill. He was so nice. But once Schumacher joined Ferrari, i was a Schumacher fan (also because Irvine was there). Schumacher is almost unique in F1 history in this sense: Hill fans, Hakkinen fans, Raikkonen, Alonso, Montoya fans - nobody had any doubts that Schumacher was the best driver on the grid. Since he's retired, there's been constant debate over who's best: "is it Verstappen, Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso???" etc. perhaps only Fangio shares that space of being the clearly dominant driver of his day with Schumacher. People say Schumacher was beaten by Rosberg (as was Hamilton), but its a bit of a stretch when he was away for four years and in totally different car on his return ... Still, no slouch.

Like Senna, Prost etc. Who cares? Only salty knuckleheads, living in the past.
