This is the best music video of the year by far, and it's become 1 of my favorite music videos of all time. We need a straight up drama or whole movie with this storyline
There are so many layers of story telling and metaphors and the director has explained what the storyline is. It’s a beautiful way for him to convey the message. In addition to this one part of my interpretation is based on the fact that Tae is blind in one eye and has burn scars around that eye. You can see at the beginning he is looking vulnerable, fragile and afraid. IU is leading him and is protective throughout. My interpretation is that he had encountered the cube before and narrowly escaped being captured and so is going through all the emotions from it. At the end, you see IU trying to protective him by picking up the metal bar because (to me) she knows what he went through and wants to protect him. And Tae taking the bar and attacking the cube looks to me like he knows what the cube is capable of and despite his fear of it, he wants to protect her. At the end it didn’t work and you can see the cube glow red with heat and smoke coming off their bodies (burn marks around his eyes). The ending was so poignant. The song was amazing and felt more epic because of the storyline and visuals. They have great chemistry, first with the amazing duet they did on IU’s Palette and now with their acting skills, not to mention their interactions as friends. It’s so good to see Tae being able to express his acting skills even in a 5minute short. I hope he starts doing movies on his return. This movie really makes everyone feel emotional and they did that with their facial expressions, truly stunning. IU is queen for a reason and Tae our idol of idols never disappoints in his unique take on life and the choices he makes, whether to make an album of music he likes or to act in a short film all choices with a sad, emotionally moving ending. He wants his artistry to move us emotionally rather than hit the top spots on charts. Love these two artists. It’s time to stop calling this kpop. These two with their amazing acting, packed in 5 mins all the emotions to convey the storyline (top tier level) that most kdramas do in 16 episodes.

I think this made me cry so much because it hit home.. people saying the cube representing hate towards disabled people.. well I've gotten that since I was little.. I've got a physical disability that I was born with.. and basically get ridiculed for being the way I was born.. to this day I remember how I contemplated suicide at a VERY young age.. I was in 5th grade.. all because not only was I being bullied by my peers but also by my teacher by not disaplenting those who were bullying me.. she said and I quote.. "I've got my own problems to worry about than to worry about you" and told me that if I were to basically standing for myself she'd have me expelled because she couldn't stand to have a handicap child in her class.. so yeah this hits home big time.. the ONLY reason I didn't is for 2 reasons.. I can't handle pain.. but I thought of pills and said no to myself because I couldn't put my mom through that emotional pain since.. Sorry for the tangent.. but for some reason I had to say it.. 😕😕

When the camera "expands" for us to see through the camera lens, they are eating and playing and happy, but no one else is. When IU is on stage, notice that people are kind of angry, kind of pointing at them, and then the cube enters. But, man, the Cubo passes these people and goes after the two. When the cube approaches, she covers V's good eye so he doesn't see what is happening. They were taken away(to where?). And then you think: Because the cube was obsessed with these two... There are so many layers of story telling and metaphors and the director has explained what the storyline is. It’s a beautiful way for him to convey the message. In addition to this one part of my interpretation is based on the fact that Tae is blind in one eye and has burn scars around that eye. You can see at the beginning he is looking vulnerable, fragile and afraid. IU is leading him and is protective throughout. My interpretation is that he had encountered the cube before and narrowly escaped being captured and so is going through all the emotions from it. At the end, you see IU trying to protective him by picking up the metal bar because (to me) she knows what he went through and wants to protect him. And Tae taking the bar and attacking the cube looks to me like he knows what the cube is capable of and despite his fear of it, he wants to protect her. At the end it didn’t work and you can see the cube glow red with heat and smoke coming off their bodies (burn marks around his eyes). The ending was so poignant.
The song was amazing and felt more epic because of the storyline and visuals. They have great chemistry, first with the amazing duet they did on IU’s Palette and now with their acting skills, not to mention their interactions as friends. It’s so good to see Tae being able to express his acting skills even in a 5minute short. I hope he starts doing movies on his return. This movie really makes everyone feel emotional and they did that with their facial expressions, truly stunning. IU is queen for a reason and Tae our idol of idols never disappoints in his unique take on life and the choices he makes, whether to make an album of music he likes or to act in a short film all choices with a sad, emotionally moving ending. He wants his artistry to move us emotionally rather than hit the top spots on charts. Love these two artists. It’s time to stop calling this kpop.
These two with their amazing acting, packed in 5 mins all the emotions to convey the storyline (top tier level) that most kdramas do in 16 episodes.

The pile of clothes represents all the people that have died and at the end, their clothes fall from the ceiling onto the pile. You both explained it very well. If you wanna venture into a little JPop, you guys should react to Psychic Fevers MV for their song ‘Just Like Dat’. Even though I just discovered their music a few weeks ago, I think they are severely underrated considering not a lot of people I know are familiar with them, and not a lot of reactor channels have reacted to their music yet!
I think this made me cry so much because it hit home.. people saying the cube representing hate towards disabled people.. well I've gotten that since I was little.. I've got a physical disability that I was born with.. and basically get ridiculed for being the way I was born.. to this day I remember how I contemplated suicide at a VERY young age.. I was in 5th grade.. all because not only was I being bullied by my peers but also by my teacher by not disaplenting those who were bullying me.. she said and I quote.. "I've got my own problems to worry about than to worry about you" and told me that if I were to basically standing for myself she'd have me expelled because she couldn't stand to have a handicap child in her class.. so yeah this hits home big time.. the ONLY reason I didn't is for 2 reasons.. I can't handle pain.. but I thought of pills and said no to myself because I couldn't put my mom through that emotional pain since.. Sorry for the tangent.. but for some reason I had to say it.. 😕😕

IU's voice sounds majestic and their acting felt so real. Glad that IU asked Tae to shoot the MV with her. They have been close friends for years. They filmed this 1 week before Tae's military enlistment. Tae was also shooting his Compose Coffee commercial during this time. Because when one of his close friend, Park Seojoon (actor) and Producer Na (from Jinny's Kitchen, one of Taehyung’s show) visited him on the set of his Compose Coffee commercial shooting, Tae said that after the shoot he will go directly somewhere to film another one. Both of them are well respected in South Korea for being true to their craft and their kind personalities. These two were given National Titles by the Korean Media and netizens. A few things you may have missed. This is one of the theory. There are many others too :-
1) IU is deaf/mute and V is blind in one eye.
2) The cube represents the society which discriminates against people having disabilities thus eliminating them.
3) However Love truly wins all. IU and V stayed together because of their true love.
4) The camrecorder shows how the world would have been if the society didn't discriminate against them.
5) They would have get married happily. If you see the scene where IU was singing in the mic and Tae puts a flower on her ear, the people in the back were pointing fingers at them.
6) The whole mv was mainly shown from the pov of IU. You can see how she always put herself in the danger first and tries to protect Tae, how tenderly she loved him, her touches were so gentle as she saw his normal eye through the cam. But Tae loved her too. At the end of their life, he puts himself in front and tried to break the box. Tae was not your alpha male. They both are equally scared but when time comes, they can sacrifice themselves for the other. This is true love.
7) The three taps on Tae's chest at the end of the mv where Jieun was hugging him from behind indicates i love you in sign language.
ANOTHER THEORY -
The cube represents inevitable death. IU and V remember their memories when they were younger through the cam recorder. How happy they were. They run away from death, wanting to spend more time with each other but at the end, they can't run away from death. It's bound to happen.

all throughout the mv IU was the one leading V bc he's blind in one eye and his other eye is not working well (when he look at IU thru the camera lens it was so blurry before it focuses on her) but then the end he took the lead to try to destroy the cube but 😢
In MY AND ONLY MY OPINION, the cubes are destroying what is not perfect. So we have IU being deaf, and V being blind. When the camera "expands" for us to see through the camera lens, they are eating and playing and happy, but no one else is. When IU is on stage, notice that people are kind of angry, kind of pointing at them, and then the cube enters. But, man, the Cubo passes these people and goes after the two. When the cube approaches, she covers V's good eye so he doesn't see what is happening. They were taken away(to where?). And then you think: Because the cube was obsessed with these two... What is the biggest "flaw" of human beings? After all, it is love. They were hunted and left together, because even though they were running away, they loved each other infinitely. It's a work of art, I vote for "Love wins all : The short film IU's version" at 10 minutes too. 💜 I cried with you, I already signed up, I loved the vibe \o

No. They always had disabilities. But the camera filtered this out based on what the director explained.
The music video was created by director Eom Tae-hwa, who has worked with IU before and won the 44th Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Director for his film Concrete Utopia. The setting of that film is similar to the setting of this M/V.
He released an interpretation guide for the 'Love wins all' M/V.
Referring to it, you can interpret the contents of the M/V as follows.
* Cube: oppression, discrimination
* IU's lip piercing (speech impediment), V's eyes with disability: shows difficulties in communicating with the world
* Camcorder: the filter of love (a very important device that allows the protagonists to see beyond their inner and outer appearance and see a whole and happy world)
* Wedding dress, tuxedo: means 'the fruit of love'
* People dressed in black: interrupting the main characters who are focusing on each other and having a happy time
In the final scene of the MV, the wedding dress and tuxedo worn by the protagonists after their physical bodies are destroyed by the cube fall down, symbolizing the social forms that we consider important and meaningful in reality, and implying that they are not the essence of life. This scene shows the liberation of the main characters from the oppression and discrimination they face from society.
Director Eom Tae-hwa said that there is an interpretation guide for the 'Love wins all' M/V, but that he welcomes various interpretations regardless.
