The Postgres instance in this demo was hosted in Railway. The is simply used to connect to your Postgres database like you would through a tool such as psql. The vm will have the information to the database since you've provided it through Airbyte already.
Nice video, but a few key things for anyone watching 1) he suggests leaving ssh open to the world and also allow http/https to the world using the default rules when you create the VM, this not recommended at all and leaves this VM at signiciant risk so please don't do this. Much better is to use the preferred remote access on Google Cloud, which is Identity Aware Proxy (IAP), completely free and uses gcloud ssh too, it means dont need to expose the VM at all to the internet 2) he suggests a "gcloud beta compute ssh" command, but that command is not a beta command, better to use the GA "gcloud compute ssh" command 3) at the start he repeatedly references "GCS", but this refers to Google Cloud Storage, which is not relevant for this video what he meant was GCP - Google Cloud Platform, or these days simply Google Cloud.
Nice explanation, but I didn’t quite get how the VM you created and the Postgres are related. Where is this Postgres instance located?
