ColdSteel is one of my favorite drumlines to watch. They have everything and something for everybody. I like how they mix the Southern style with SOME JSU, but also has the cleanness and skill sets found in Drum Corps with tuned bass drums, etc. I love it!! And then they play the HECK out of their show and when you watch them whether they are just warming up or performing, you're going to get a hell of a show either way. And it's ALWAYZ a show with them. And plus, I like how what they do just looks like pure fun and they're ALWAYZ a force to reckon with because they got something for whatever someone puts out! Now, that's what I'm talking about!!!
bettabeatz 1975 I grew up on on... mcfunk box was untouchable.... honestly tho I don't see msd touching these boys ....not precise enough and snare line has way more challenges then pv....pv got like three or four snare blasts that come from the box ....i need more ....show me something to bring me back some hope for pv seriously my g because I'm on the verge of converting to that nca&t vibe
Derek Linden respect brother. We trying to represent for all HBCU. Keeping those who didn't feel good about what we all know. Keep drumming #byos #coldsteel #Hbcu
Cold Steel send chills through my spine when they play. It's a lot of schools that can hang with them when it comes to chopping. But Im a drummer and I have to say. When it comes to chopping AND getting funky in the same cadence. I haven't seen nobody do it like NC.
Ive been watching these drummers intensely as a new fan. I knew the shorter guy was going to move up. Now he rolling off cadences. I come from the nola, we are a bit lazy but, thats fun, its how we are. However, this drum line follows no one. Very original. Keep up the good work. 😎
This is GREAT!! I love Our HBCU Bands because they are holding the line on African-American Ritualistic culture, We are a Magnificent people , Drums are everything!!...FAMU Rattler .
is this a high school corp? i like the mixed style of crop style and show band. a bit too much of flare and not enough playing from the snare line. i didnt see any sweeps for the tenor line. thats why im asking if they are still in high school, they look young.
The only thing keeping this section from being the best college section with no questions asked is the quads. Basses and snares been light years ahead of them and they seem to only get better as years pass. Quads not so much. They're parts are too simple and not in the nearest complementary to the snares. Harv should let someone from the dci world work with them and teach them the essence of their instrument.
natejones5 the tuning of their basses is also holding them back. Their bottom 4 basses need to be tuned/dampened instead of having that empty/hollow sound.
natejones5 Quints bring the groove. They play enough difficulty in their solos. We know they can play. Style is what Cold Steel is all about. Keep your DCI.
that was clean. it gets better every year, everytime, I enjoyed it

natejones5 That won't happen. That's what makes Cold Steel who they are. They've innovated enough. Some traditions just won't change.
