I love this look. We're having a screened porch built, and the long wall of it is the exterior wall of the house. The siding has been removed, and it will have shiplap applied. The contractor got some nickel gap rabbeted wood shiplap from Home Depot that looks awful - it's thin, cupped and warped. It was to be applied to the ceiling, but it's going back and we're going to do something else there. I think exterior plywood faux shiplap will look the best on the wall. Do you think we should use plywood thicker than 1/4" because it's exterior? I wonder if something should be applied to the wall before the shiplap, because removing the siding exposed black tarpaper (pretty ripped up), and some substrate planks that have a contoured face. (The house is 75 years old.) I'm thinking that we need a flat and white substrate before the shiplap. Would like to hear others' thoughts on this.

Thanks. I am on the fence about the Grex, I have had it for a long time and every once in a while it will not fire, I hit it play around with the PSI and it will start working again but not sure what the problem is. I like that it is compact however. I am currently investigating battery powered pin nailers I think it is time and Milwaukee is the front runner right now.
Pica-dry! My most favorite pencil ever, has a sharpener built into the holder/cap(for really intricate work). I will probably never use a carpenter’s pencil again. Also bought white “leads” for marking steel. I’m building a mini home with shiplap, thanks for the tips!
I totally agree, I have started not hanging on to the free carpenter pencils I am occasionally given because I have realized after a few years I will never use them again. Pica's are game changers!

Late watching the video, but great job with the wall. I'm trying to do one that's even smaller believe it or not.
Did you have any issues with splinters along all those cut edges? Did you sand all the edges first?
The @festool saw I am using has a splinter guard and minimal to 0 tear out - if I was not using this saw light sanding would probably be required

That's part of the look I was going for, but you could certainly use full pieces if you didn't care about a lot of waste
