Club Brugge fan here. We’ve been trying to build a new stadium for the past 17 years. We tried a few different locations and time and time again there was something wrong and couldn’t start building. We’re now trying to build our new stadium at the current location. And we have the approval from the government to build there. But unfortunate, 16 people who live around the stadium are against it. The board has already organised meetings between them and the neighbours to find a solution so both sides will be happy. But it seems like they always find something to complain. And that’s slowing down the process. Luckily, there are some people who recently came out and said they have no problem with a new stadium in their neighbourhood. Hopefully this will be helpful for us and finally start building our new ground. Glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of our beautiful city.

Leicester fan here. Our first ever champions League away game was at Bruges in 2016. We had only 1400 allocated tickets aswell but took 7,000 over. The beer was brilliant as you say, and the city was lovely and the Bruges fans very friendly. We got escorted to the ground by policemen on bikes...😅. Good luck in the rest of your CL games.

Brugge looks fabulous, re Mings handball it was bizarre and a genuine mistake by Ty as I don’t think he saw Emi kick it to him. The Brugge players all appealed to the ref who had no choice but to stick to the letter of the law. I feel we are rotating players too much, not sure if it is to keep everybody happy, but there isn’t a sense of cohesion as it gets mixed up. Would prefer it if we have team A and team B to let the players get used to their team mates. Safe journey home

That was like watching the movie ‘Hostel’. Starts out all fun and jovial and ends in a horror show. Calamity Mings always has a gaffe in him, but he’s up there with Enckelman now. A pasting at Liverpool and it’s going to be a very long tense international break. This bewildering slump is the toughest period yet Emery has faced. Lord knows what he makes of these players.
I doubt emery planned us to play that way, so for whatever reason we didn’t execute which will be a big test for a manager who craves control. Appreciate we’ve rotated a bit recently but we had regulars still in and the lack of movement off the ball to create space and to play the ball quick was the total opposite to what makes us great. Let’s slot repeat this Saturday 😂

I think Villa are now seeing close up how tough it is to play Premiership and 8 Champions League games, with most players also away on international duty regularly. Rotation needed, but cohesion lost. Bruges a fantastic destination for holidays, with or without football.

I support Barcelona and the new camp nou stadium nearly got rejected by residents of the city neighbourhood. I think Bruges and there fans need to keep pushing and trying in order to finally have a new stadium built or they should build it anywhere in the city without residents rejecting idea

I love how every team in the CL underestimate Club Brugge. We've been playing Champions League for 6 times in 7 years now, last season semi final Conference League. Our captain Hans Vanaken has 42 appearances and 10 goals in CL group stage that's the same goals that Eden Hazard scored in 61 games. He scored goals against Real Madrid, Man City and PSG! We won 2-0 against Atlético Madrid, won 0-4 at Porto, won 1-2 at Leipzig, drew 2-2 at Real Madrid, 1-1 against PSG with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé all on the pitch. And in 3 years, we will finally have our new stadium. I've been saying that for 17 years but hey, just keeping the confidence high 😂.
Hope you had a lovely time in Bruges; from the video, it looks like you did. We want to apologize for our stadium. We really feel embarrassed by the state of it. We are trying to build on for over 15 years in different locations, but we've been held back by bats (unfortunately this is not a joke) and people who keep fighting our permit. We now have a permit and can build, but there are again a few local residents who are fighting it. We could build, but if they win we would need to tear it down again. It's really annoying and it's slowing us down as a club as well. As for the police, we are also aware that things are not managed well. It's been a problem before, unfortunately, nothing we can do about it. For us it was a magical night of football, beating a Premier League club and staying in the race to qualify for the next round is a dream. I wish you guys all the best for the remainder of the season and hope we will meet again, but maybe on your ground for comfort and safety!

Hi Max, Great video as always. Brugge looks fantastic. Line-up just didn’t click together. Defensively, as you said, very shaky. Concerning Mings, I believe the referee was right to award the penalty. It seems to have become a bad habit in the Premier League recently, where the defender just decides to disregard the goalie’s pass, and start again. UTV
The Mings thing was a stupid mistake on his part. But the whole game we were giving the ball away and had no way of going forward. Watkins wasn’t making runs and they passed and moved all the time… we didn’t!
You are spot on. Shape was all wrong and so passive. There didn't seem to be any urgency and too many players miles off it. We've lost all the fluidity we had at the start of the season. Hoping its.just a blip.
think we weakened our squad too much in the summer, and spent money where we didnt need to. As good as Onana is, we didn't need a €60mn DM with Kamara back, and spending €50mn on Maatsen when we had Digne and Moreno is criminal. We've needed another RB since we got promoted, and not getting in a Diaby replacement was poor. The fact our net spend is -€30mn is concerning!
It was a Penalty and we are in a rut. Watkins is off form but i doubt Duran is the answer. Its a tough test for Emery now , possibly his toughest since he arrived. We will have a Newcastle like drop off i think now.

As you said Max, if the game had continued instead of a penalty being awarded, no one would have battered an eyelid. Not one person would have been saying it should have been a penalty. But i honestly think that we will get something from Liverpool on Saturday night. It would be typical Villa to go and get 3 points when everyone is expecting us to be destroyed. UTV
Penalty or no Penalty absolute shocking performance. No movement, no urgency. Simon had it right at half time. Sloppy passing which only got worse second half. Onto Liverpool we go, re-group and get ourselves back together to the villa we know under Unai.

Concerning Mings, I believe the referee was right to award the penalty. It seems to have become a bad habit in the Premier League recently, where the defender just decides to disregard the goalie’s pass, and start again. UTV

The Mings thing was a stupid mistake on his part. But the whole game we were giving the ball away and had no way of going forward. Watkins wasn’t making runs and they passed and moved all the time… we didn’t!
You are spot on. Shape was all wrong and so passive. There didn't seem to be any urgency and too many players miles off it. We've lost all the fluidity we had at the start of the season. Hoping its.just a blip.
think we weakened our squad too much in the summer, and spent money where we didnt need to. As good as Onana is, we didn't need a €60mn DM with Kamara back, and spending €50mn on Maatsen when we had Digne and Moreno is criminal. We've needed another RB since we got promoted, and not getting in a Diaby replacement was poor. The fact our net spend is -€30mn is concerning!
It was a Penalty and we are in a rut. Watkins is off form but i doubt Duran is the answer. Its a tough test for Emery now , possibly his toughest since he arrived. We will have a Newcastle like drop off i think now.

You call it a stadium in the middle of nowhere, but we’re trying to build a new stadium for 18 years, yet the same 10 people that live close to the stadium are able to block it time in time. And the funny part is, the current stadium was there before the houses around it were built.

We saw it from the stands, we started shouting hands ball. It was a correct penalty aswell, sorry to say it, just a stupid mistake. Sorry about our stadium too, it's a disgrace we haven't been able to build a new one, but it keeps getting blocked off by people living nearby. Hope to you guys again in a new stadium, you're always welcome! And the police do that because of bad experiences with teams from other countries, we never had problems with English fans or Germans...
Put perfectly i was in with the Brugge fans, just to the side of the away end and it was grand. I think I had read Brugge finally have some sort of planning permission for new stadium, thought the DJ and atmosphere was good. Slightly worried about the Liverpool game. UTV!

Nice video. As you said: Villa was slow. We didn't have to do much of an effort that keep you away from our goal. As far the stadium goes: it's a disgrace, that's why most of us stick to the water slide.
Great video Max - poor performance from villa, i thought Emery was going to have a heart attack at some point throughout the match. To be fair to Brugge they got their tatics spot on closing our lads down rapid - it doesn't matter what's said regarding Mings rightly or wrongly his error cost us the game. I wouldn't have wanted to be in that dressing room after the game - I'm sure by the time Emery had finished laying into them it's more than likely we'll start to see improvement very soon UTV
As you said Max, if the game had continued instead of a penalty being awarded, no one would have battered an eyelid. Not one person would have been saying it should have been a penalty. But i honestly think that we will get something from Liverpool on Saturday night. It would be typical Villa to go and get 3 points when everyone is expecting us to be destroyed. UTV
Penalty or no Penalty absolute shocking performance. No movement, no urgency. Simon had it right at half time. Sloppy passing which only got worse second half. Onto Liverpool we go, re-group and get ourselves back together to the villa we know under Unai.
No urgency is a recurring theme in the comments. Playing at walking pace, sideways, backwards, getting to the edge of the box then passing all the way back to Emi.

As a Club Brugge supporter, I feel ashamed of the old and worn-out stadium. We have been waiting for a new stadium for 18 years, but here in Belgium that is difficult because of those stupid laws here and local residents who are blocking it.
Shame to hear about the poor treatment from the police at the end of the match when Villa fans would have already been annoyed after watching that performance! 😤 Great VLOG though Max, despite the result, your content is brilliant to watch! 💯 👏🏾 We're still in an unbelievably fantastic position in the table however 🤞🏾 we can get back on track in our next fixture at home to Juventus in a little over 2️⃣ weeks time! Bruges 7 points off top does not mean so much in Belgium. After 30 league games, the points are halved before the title play-offs with 10 more games between the top 6. It is only then that the best form should be there...
