I have a 1948 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck with the owner's manual that gives you instructions on how to adjust the valves, set the points and many other necessary mechanical tasks. My wife's new Tahoe owners manual on the first page says Do not drink the water in the battery. Smh... What has this world come to
That is weird, how do you even drink battery fluid, most batteries are sealed ! Aside from that who on earth wants to even try to drink battery 'water'.

I had a 2011. Chevy dealer turned my service contract (bumper to bumper 100k miles) into “safety items only” and subsequently refused to replace my dash when the top of it cracked in 7 places. I traded for a Mazda CX-9, and ended 40 years relationship with GM. The Mazda has been flawless, has higher torque than the Silverado, and gets 30 mpg. You can’t make me trade it.
GM and Stellantis/Chrysler...has to be forced by the government to do recalls! Ford and Toyota are quick to do recalls on their own willingly...that's why they typically have more recalls! Thirsty ass GM and Chrysler just want peoples money and then your ass out!!!🤔🤐👏👏💯

As quick and easy as that is to change out that module, and as high of a failure rate as they are, the dealers ought to have service "trucks" stocked with modules and tools so they can send a mechanic out on a roadside service call.
No joke: GM Chevrolet used to make their trucks, so upon failure, could be LIMPED BACK, enough power, to make it to local Chevy dealer. It was actually called LIMP MODE. Chevy removed it, now the vehicles must be towed.

I remember back in 1993 my father in law bought a new Chevy truck. As you know the fuel pump is in the gas tank. After about one year the fuel pump went out. They replaced it. A few months later the same thing. Long story short, this went on for about a year. If I remember it got replaced three or four times. Chevy said it was just a bad run of parts. Finally they got through them.

I wondered why it was appeared to be brand new and dead. I honestly felt bad for the fella, traffic was miles backed up and he was getting yelled at and such by folks as they went by. 8am rush hour.
that’s crazy my 24’ GMC canyon at4 has 13700 miles no issues so far i’m grateful. but i have been contemplating going to a older crew cab again, 20-22’ maybe. less tech means less issues to worry about . also crazy this guy said he drove to EP to pick that up lol my hometown
Why does that old man need a truck like that!! I’ll tell you one thing, he doesn’t stop talking. Those kind of customers distract you while you work can cause you to have an accident!
I should have said, it is probably a supplier issue! Whoever is making this part, probably in China, has a major quality issue and GM is doing nothing about it... It's not just GM, they are just the one in this video. GM, Ford, Dodge/Ram are all having supplier issues.
Quit your beechin. Blame 'Murican CEOs for moving production overseas to screw everyday Amercan workers and pay pennies on the dollar to Chinese slave labor.
Strip all these new trucks back to say loaded 2012 models that was enough options :leather w/heated cooled seats sunroof , trailer brake controls and power windows with a good stereo and power pedals and possibly sliding rear window.. that’s enough!!! Options, drop the prices back to 45-55 max and they will sell… we don’t need 14” screens. Seats that vibrate if you fall out of lane , self driving etc 360 cameras .. too much stuff to go wrong and we won’t need a 240 amp alternator either.. they are overkill on options and no one can afford them … under 10k in miles and getting towed to dealer already is unacceptable- no matter if it’s a shifter or valves or stupid afm … go back in time a bit ,, no one needs a plane cockpit in their vehicle..
Someone should inquire to GM about a release button or towing mode to have the wheels release. I don't know what the engineers are thinking or what engineers GM hired. This is unacceptable.
GMs quality control went down the drain a long time ago. The AFM systems were just the cherry on top, i bet that was his problem with his first GMC where he mentioned the heads had to come off. Probably a bad lifter and bent pushrod, happened to my 2017 too.
Bet it was a 21’ they went thru a very bad batch of lifters building the engines stay away from 21’s built from 3-21 to sept when they started building the new refreshed 22’s
My brother in laws truck is like a 2017? Rarely drives it due to having a company truck. Transmission went out twice and the same fuel pump issue recently.
That module for a '23 GM/Chebbie 6.2 engine is less then $40 bucks. I guess that I would have one or two in my glove box along with any tools for WHEN the OE part died. Of course most GM parts sites as well as Rock Auto Parts are out of stock. My history with those kinds of JIC spares stinks. I still have 2-3 of those exhaust temperature thermocouples for a Ford 6.7 diesel and just trashed the throttle position sensor for older Ford pickup
I used to be a GM technician back in the 90s. I used to put an average of about two fuel pumps in per day on all different GM cars and trucks. I can’t believe that GM still has this issue in 2024. I also hear they got problems with the engines and the transmissions too now. GM is a vehicle now that I would not want to own.
They don't fix this because it's a "make work" program for the dealerships. This is why the business model is endangered. Toyota refuses to build EV's because of this very issue. Vehicles that don't break require no service.
How many door handles, did you replace? 😂 I worked at a GM dealership in 2015. Just a poop load, 💩 of warranty and recall issues. I got locked 🔒 in our 1995 Silverado, 🙄. shop truck, because the battery was disconnected, and both inside door handles were broken, no sliding rear window. Embarrassing!! 🥴
You made my mind up. Was suppose to close a lease on one, on Sat. I don't want to deal with this shit. I refuse to !!!!! My sales guy will be disappointed soon enough. Sorry Charlie.
At least GM didn’t bury it on top of the fuel tank like in older models. Around 2018 and older GM vehicles you had to drop the fuel tank or remove the bed to do anything with the fuel
Y'all can say what you want but i have owned 4 rams since 2014 and never had one issue other than recalls which they all have. I don't know now since stellantis took over i have 2022 ram and I'm not easy on them.
Toyota trucks aren't perfect, but they're much more reliable than Ford, GM, and Stellantis trucks. I bought a Toyota pickup new in '83 and it's still running. And the older I get the less I like working on cars and trucks.
That only has 10000 miles I would be mad as heck. Somebody would be in trouble.over 100 ,000 dollars Chevy fell off a lot. Recall should be issued. Lemon law lemon law. I know somebody that bought a c-8 Corvette and broke down right down from the dealership and they wouldn't come get it.
The problem is with all the “new” technology electronics/sensors on every thing . Go back to fuel pump on the motor and manual hubs and transfer case level in the floor. Modern day engineering 😢

You can bullet proof a modern GM’s engine but the electrical problems will drive you away especially 2015 and newer imo.
N54-8k…..Just get that Escalade no newer than a 09’ and you won’t need to disable afm the gmt 900 SUV’s didn’t have afm 07,08 &09… 2010 they went to the l94 6.2 with afm … the 1500 pickups 6.2 don’t have afm the whole run (07-13)

$100,000 truck you can't keep on the road. 😢
that’s crazy my 24’ GMC canyon at4 has 13700 miles no issues so far i’m grateful. but i have been contemplating going to a older crew cab again, 20-22’ maybe. less tech means less issues to worry about . also crazy this guy said he drove to EP to pick that up lol my hometown
Why does that old man need a truck like that!! I’ll tell you one thing, he doesn’t stop talking. Those kind of customers distract you while you work can cause you to have an accident!
yep. just shut up and let me do my job.
I should have said, it is probably a supplier issue! Whoever is making this part, probably in China, has a major quality issue and GM is doing nothing about it... It's not just GM, they are just the one in this video. GM, Ford, Dodge/Ram are all having supplier issues.
Don't forget Toyota.
Quit your beechin. Blame 'Murican CEOs for moving production overseas to screw everyday Amercan workers and pay pennies on the dollar to Chinese slave labor.
Happy Birthday Lee! Today is my wife and I 23 anniversary.
GM Quality At It's Finest 😂😂😂
My brother in laws truck is like a 2017? Rarely drives it due to having a company truck. Transmission went out twice and the same fuel pump issue recently.
They don't make these new vehicles like them older ones. It's a shame especially with the price tags on them.
This guy was a character 😂
Maybe I should get rid of my 2023 Yukon:( Great on a road trip but now I think I'll be too nervous to go anywhere!
Depends on which motor is in it.
@@Towtruck_Dustin I believe it is the next one up from 5.3, maybe 6.1? It's a Denali, but not the ultimate 100k.
You know it's a terribly common issue when they can fix it before you're even out of there.
Most of the time they sit for weeks because they don’t have the parts.
@@Towtruck_Dustin yeah, also shows that they fix it too often.
They had done 6 others that same day.
@@Towtruck_Dustin yeah. Maybe they'll fix it. Or just use it for money.
What a shame, I was thinking about getting a newer used AT4X, forget that now, I'll stick with my 2021 RAM 1500
Depending on year, this issue mostly affects the 2022 and 2023 gas trucks.
You made my mind up. Was suppose to close a lease on one, on Sat. I don't want to deal with this shit. I refuse to !!!!! My sales guy will be disappointed soon enough. Sorry Charlie.
Happy birthday lee Gonzalez
At least GM didn’t bury it on top of the fuel tank like in older models. Around 2018 and older GM vehicles you had to drop the fuel tank or remove the bed to do anything with the fuel
That’s still truck with the pump itself. The control module however is on the frame rail.
You should buy a few modules and charge $500 to change them on the spot (in safe area). LOL!
That’s a great idea 😂
Y'all can say what you want but i have owned 4 rams since 2014 and never had one issue other than recalls which they all have. I don't know now since stellantis took over i have 2022 ram and I'm not easy on them.
im on my 3rd ford, never had any issues. all comes down to servicing your vehicle. But no truck should have issues at 10k
Happy Birthday Lee!! Congrats on one year wiser!!
Love the video as always!
It’s better to buy a ten year old used truck than a brand new one
The problem is with all the “new” technology electronics/sensors on every thing . Go back to fuel pump on the motor and manual hubs and transfer case level in the floor. Modern day engineering 😢
🥳 Happy belated birthday, Mr. Gonzalez!!! 🎉. And many more! 🎂 ☺️. 🙃
My 2015 yukon transmission is out now. Im getting the transmission bullet proof now😢. Low miles and never beat on.
I hate new vehicles for this reason but I've towed a couple of these not to bad
I am a GM guy, BUT OLDER GM ONLY! I have a 70, 85, 90, 2005 and my new one, an 2008! I'm not buying anything newer.... GM is junk now.
This is me, I have a 02 Silverado 4.8 with 260k an 07 cat eye with 180k. 05 burban with 200k. I’d love to find a mint/low mileage 2012 Escalade platinum and have the AFM disabled.
@@toddprater14 thanks for dropping some knowledge I didn’t know the trucks didn’t have afm. I own a few GMT800 so 900 hasn’t really been my thing. And for preference I think ima go with a platinum from like 2012. I just think it’s the best looking package you can get on those gen caddy’s. And I can’t keep nothing stock so it’d 9 times out of 10 would get a cam and some goods.
@@N54-8K I love the Cadillac Dts platinum.. love it, but that a 2 piece motor with a half case .. so the blocks 2 pieces on the northstar.. they tend to leak.. also this is a fussy motor that needs the coolant changed on time and not every 10 years..gm changed the headbolts to shorter ones for 97-99 ( nightmare) went back to longer for 2000-03 ( still didn’t help , head gasket failures) finally in late 04’ builds they went to ls coarser threaded headbolts for 05( last year deville) and 06-11 dts.. and it finally solved the problem ( took gm 11 years and ruined the northstar nameplate) I would only buy 05-11 … beautiful older big sized car.. yes the ford panther platforms more reliable ( crown Vic , marquis, Lincoln town car) but not as good looking…
Basically by 2013-14 is when automakers changed body styles and this is when they started going nuts on over tech laden interiors… I always say nothing newer than a 13’… todays trucks are really nice but they are built like crap with cheap junk parts .. they are blowing engines / transmissions a few thousand miles outta dealers lots.. not worth it… you don’t need 14” screens lane assist, 14 cameras etc…
Power seats , mirrors , 6-8” IN DASH Navi screen and leathers about all one needs.. they’ve gone way overboard and now a trucks 80-90k …
@@toddprater14 I see the confusion, we’ve been talking about 2 different vehicles lol. I’m talking about a Escalade Platinum, don’t get me wrong I like DTS but I know better to stay away from a North Star.
Hey is this part really necessary maybe it should be eliminated from the system. How large is your tow company . So you probably visit that dealership on a weekly basis. Happy Birthday Lee
