THANK YOU! I was struggling as a new EFDA, specially with x-rays. Our office is too busy for my lead to coach me. Then I watched this video and it all clicked! Thank you!
Thank you Janet, for your descriptive video , I went to a dental assisting program and even during my program I was not shown in great detail how to properly place digital sensers in the mouth. I was shown multiple ways , however, now I have even a better understanding of the placement of the X cp equipment. Thank you.
As a dental hygienist for 44yrs I found your video to be very helpful in the use of sensors. Your teaching style proved “that you can teach an old dog new tricks” since I will be subbing in an office with the latest digital equipment! I also love the universal XCP ring system. Thanks!
2:18 MADE MY DAY SO FUNNY XD a slithering snake sssssss. Anyway, great video this is by far the most useful video i've seen for taking xrays thank you so much!
please help me I work at office dental as dental assistant I volunteer now so sometimes I’m see the doctor use foam plastic it’s be white for hold senser for bitewing and when he take X-ray he remove the plastic foam so why he do that
Hi Fatima, Thank you for writing with your question. I would love to help you. However, I'm not clear on what he is using. Can you please take a photo of the foam so I can see it? I'll look forward to hearing from you.🙂
Hi Danna, Great question! This is a very common problem with the wired digital sensor. I have two thoughts. First when placing the sensor, place the anterior edge of the sensor toward the midline. It will be at an angle with the anterior edge near 24 & 25.. Then pull the PID forward and project (angling slightly back) through the contacts. I'll upload a photo that will explain it better. Try that. It will get you closer to the target. The other thing to consider is that it's hard to get textbook quality x-rays with the wired sensor. but we don't need more textbooks, we need diagnostic quality x-rays. So if you have a good image of the canine and even the first premolar in your canine shot, you are good to go. Don't sweat it. :) Thank you for pursuing excellence! Keep it up. Just be aware that most of us face this limitation due to the thick and rigid sensor.
oh shoot! I can't insert a photo here. My email address is janet@dentalxraycoach.com Send me an email and I will send you a couple photos to explain what I'm talking about.
If you'd like more training in dental x-rays come see me at the CDA presents in Anaheim! I'm giving my Rad. Refresher course Friday (May 17th 2019) at 3:00pm. I would love to see you there and answer any questions you may have.
Hi Charizard, Thank you for asking this great question and I apologize that I didn't reply sooner. The main reason is that bitewing x-rays are able to be placed close to the teeth which gives a higher degree of clarity and less magnification. This allows the dentist to spot incipient decay earlier in the process and catch cavities before they do too much damage to the tooth. Also, they are less subject to distortion from placement errors. PA's show the entire tooth and the surrounding tissues. they are important for the dentist to have an overall sense for the patients oral health and of course it helps them to see all sorts of conditions. For example, I know of a person who had an FMX then 9 months later had a Panoramic Xray. (He wanted invisilign so the doc had that taken) Thank goodness he did!. In just that short of period of time, n ameloblastoma had destroyed alveolar bone, the roots of #30. The patient did not have any pain and the only reason it was caught was the doctor prescribing xrays. It was also very fortunate for the dentist that the FMX was taken because it proved that he was not negligent. I hope that helps. :)
Thank you for the video! You mentioned you've talked about taking bitewings in your other video but I couldn't find it. Could you please send me the link?
Sure thing! www.dentalxraycoach.com also here is a video on mounting bitewings in case there is some information you can find useful here. ruclips.net/video/bIgC8aL3zCU/видео.html

Good point Triztine. :-) I like to have my eye on the same level as the patient's mouth. Being able to see well is so important to proper film placement.
We should all have a great instructor like this. Educational and entertaining all in one. ☺️
Thanks Drea. If there is any subject you'd like to have explained better just let me know.
One of the cutest dentists I've seen in my whole life...
Those landmarks you gave are WONDERFUL for helping my placements! Thank you!!!!

Janet it will be a good suggestion that you explain when you switch the rings
One of the best demonstration.
Thank you for your endorsement and kind words.

I sometimes miss the canine when doing premolar even though I put it in the middle of canine, do you have an tips?

Can U plz tell me why take bitewings when PAs are taken during full mouth xrays
both bitewings and pas are taken in an fmx full mouth series

I am a extern and I am having some trouble getting things in order as far as x-rays are concerned. I really want to master my craft ! Any extra tips ?

Tnxs ur
Very much 🌷💜🌹
Thank you for the kind words! Have a blessed day.
Me encanto.
Gracias!
It'd be nice if we had rings ...
But I'm still good without them
I don't need rings LOL
Juan you are crushing it.
Do you think that annoying music is necessary when you teach it ?
"I crouch a lot when i place this in"....honey, you shouldnt have to. You simply just raise the patient up to your level.
Ha ha! Great point Brian! But this way I get some squats in at the same time. ;-)
Do what makes you comfortable
Good point Triztine. :-) I like to have my eye on the same level as the patient's mouth. Being able to see well is so important to proper film placement.
I like to crouch too...
Sorry im externing as a Dental Assistant to be more specific.
My boss will tell me to retake x Ray's with the over lapings on your premolars
The instructor is great but the music is extremely distracting. I can barely hear her voice.
that background music is horrible.. too distracting for me.
