Another insightful episode again, I only wish this had come 1 year ago when I made this mistake, I offered insights into how a civil Engineering design firm could improve its workflow to cut down man-hour loss and consequently cost, lost out to a well established company because they just didn’t believe I could do the work. Now I see what I should have done.
I like the approach of breaking down the work into manageable pieces, not just for the consulting firm, but most importantly for the client. Looking forward to applying this lesson when next a client doubts if my team or firm can handle a subsequent engagement. Really valuable piece.
Learning critical skills such as business development and sales go a long way in shaping one's career and this FC episode helps us with useful tips and thinking that can be implemented in real world with real problems!

Right! I agree with you. Sales skills, hopefully based on building relationships, are really pivotal to a manager's career.
Michael, how do we sell a project for which we don't have relevant project experience? Could you share some case studies?
