      Imo there is no downgrade, the models are even better in the retail version, the models are more detailed and have more effects like dirt on their bodies... The only thing they did was tone down the effects, and this was something that the Tekken community asked for, cause in the CNT the game was too flashy and this was harming the gameplay. So the devs tonned down the effects.

      It’s important to point out that Tekken is notorious for being a competitive game, and a game can’t be competitive when the screen is too muddled with lighting effects and lens flairs. So bamco made the game more visually discernible at the cost of being less cinematic. I wish they had kept the effects for the story mode, though.

If you are looking to just play the single player of tekken then i suggest you guys safe that money. 99.9% of players getting the game is for the online multiplayer portion of the game. The differences most likely come from Lumen being enabled. It really seems like the "demo" was using it as lighting is considerably better, as well as effects being more detailed (likely made specific for the demo). But to be completely honest, ain't no way this was running on a PS5. This was 4K native, 60fps, with no signs of reconstruction. It most definitely was running on a high end PC. Shame that they decided to drop Lumen completely for the final game, probably to keep visual parity and clarity among all versions, because if you were to put this on any current gen system, it would run at 1080p at best.

      Makese sense they removed it. Adding these extra visual effect will indeed affect latency. Its probably why they don't use all those demanding UE5 specific features in this game. No Lumen, no nanite, etc. Which indeed resulted in being one of the most responsive Tekken game, or even UE5 game, out there.

    • @sounghungi
      @sounghungi 7 месяцев назад

      I don't think it's Lumen. The light in the retail game is just blown out. If you compare the still of Kazuya, you'll see that they look exactly the same but the demo has a stronger blue light on the left side of his body in comparison to the retail version.
      The reason I don't think it's Lumen that's make the difference is because the light isn't bouncing off the ground. Since Lumen is a ray tracing lighting engine, you would see more bounce lighting and light wrapping but you don't see that in the demo. The light wrapping not be present might be due to the strength of the light source but when the lighting hits, the light on the ground should be visible at least near their feet but you don't see that.

    While it would be cool to see the actual game look like the first trailer people need to understand this
    From December 2022 - January 24, 2024 we have PLENTY of trailers and gameplay shown to know the game that we were buying. And also, it really shows that people absolutely DO NOT care about a game being playable anymore. Not to mention Tekken 8 is releasing on three platforms, and has Crossplay.
    Even so, the game still looks amazing

    • @renookami4651
      @renookami4651 7 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah, also there wil always be a jump back in quality for playable portions just due to their nature, for optimisation purpose.
      It's just a normal thing compared to a trailer that emulates what said parts are supposed to feel like and can afford to stay the same as the cutscene itself.
      Plus, a lot of time passed so, like other comments pointed out there's also story-related changes the dialog shown in the video points at.
      If they are so exausted they don't have their devil powers during this part of the fight, of course the visual effects will reflect that and be less crazy than in the showcase. If anything, the scene is doing its job if people think it's a bit "underwhelming" because at this point in the story they're just two guys punching eachothers, no more fancy power-ups only skill and willpower.

    To those of you who don't know what exactly happened,
    The demo version is not rendered in a game engine, and it is a cinematic version of this game since we do not have this kind of GI (Global Illumination) inside Unreal Engine and also if you pay attention to the characters, they changed design but mostly they have incredibly low polygon with less texture quality compared to the CG version (AKA Demo).

    I still find it absolutely unbelievable that we still faking game trailers till this day. I'm pretty sure the graphics of this trailer are achievable if they really wanted to and working on the code I'm sure about it but I think they needed to turn down graphics because ps 5 is still not at the end and if we pushing the ps 5 or series x to the absolute limit after 3 years games wouldn't have that impact and effect to look better and increase because they cranked up the graphics very early after 3 years. But we as consumers need to see the changes if tekken 8 would come out in 2027 or 2028 it would probably look like the trailer. Fact is we could play like the ingame trailer if the industry would be more focusing on optimization and code writing. To get everything out of the systems.

    I think the PS5 on the demo had a much easier time dealing with higher quailty graphics because it only had the knowledge of 2 characters, 1 stage and a literal cutscene with spesific moves instead of 32 characters with the least ammount of moves ranging at around 80 (plus bosses), 9 stages (plus Tekken Ball and Story only stages), multiple maps, two entire story mode campaigns, A crap load (not really) of character customization and much more. Considering that I have a 2060 and am struggling to get stable 60 fps, I'd probably run the demo render pretty well at 30 fps.

    Might include:
    Enchanted cutscene
    More refined rain Behavior & lighting, better lightening or raytracing real-time shadow renders

    . Character models are about the same on Kazuya, Jin's model in the final game is way better.
    .Animations are exactly the same, nothing to see there
    .lighting is definitely downgraded and seems to lean more towards visual clarity more than anything.
    .Effects are purposefully turned down because the characters lost their powers.

  • @serenalaurence1492
    @serenalaurence1492 7 месяцев назад

    For anyone who thinks the retail version looks better, look at 4:45 . Jin's pants are barely visible and super blurry with bad textures in the retail, whereas in the demo (teaser actually) it is clearly visible and has a very smooth blur applied. In the very next scene, you can see the shading differences clearly if you focus in Kazuya's nostrils (gross I know), in the teaser it's shaded how you'd expect it to be but in the retail version it is shaded more like how you'd expect a game character to be shaded. I think the demo might have been a constant back-and-forth between pre-rendered cutscenes and gameplay (you can actually see the transition at 0:25 if you go frame by frame when the announcer says 'FIGHT!', notice Jin's shoulder lighting), meaning that this was never meant to be possible in the first place. It technically means that it is running live and not completely pre-rendered, but it doesn't mean it's all rendered.
    I did play through the game and overall it can look amazing and you'd not notice most of the downgrades (one exception being the background of this particular scene), but side by side it is very clear (to me atleast) that the teaser was never representative of the final game, it's just not possible currently

    • @Deliveredmean42
      @Deliveredmean42 7 месяцев назад +1

      You can see the difference in shading in Jin's mouth when he yells. The expected darkening there is not shown in the retail. Retail version looks better, the reveal version had too much going on in the background environment while the retail version focused more on the fighters movesets. The only thing that should be kept from the demo version is the lightning effect it feels like it was downgraded a bit for the release.

    I can’t believe we’ve made it this far in gaming. There has to come a point when developers start to rollback with the realism right? Is it possible for graphics to look “too real”?

    While the lightning and rain is better in the trailer, it would be too distracting if used in the actual gameplay so i understand why they toned it down.

    That’s the cinematic trailer not demo, The actual in game fight switches between both

    Btw, that "demo version" was never actually playable... It was always just a cutscene which sucks. But there wasn't a downgrade. It's like comparing a movie to a game, obviously the movie will look better because things aren't rendered in real time.

    harada himself said that he wasn't very satisfied with the light in the actual game and that they did everything possible to make the actual gameplay look as close as possible to reveal trailer
    i love the cinematic look but i guess it would've toasted the hell out of a a bit weaker laptops\pc

      “Did everything possible to make the actual gameplay look as close as possible to the reveal trailer”
      They did not, because it looks a thousand times worse

      The trailer said it was running on PS5 and we know the PS5 can run lumen lighting at decent performance, they (Tekken developers) just suck at optimization lol
