Luke, I have been watching your channel for a few years now but this is my first comment.
First I would like to say thank you for your unique, unbiased, gear review. I am an avid outdoorsman and appreciate your candor.
After my latest outdoor adventure where my twenty year old eureka two man tent succumbed to thunderstorms and high West Texas winds, I realized an upgrade/downsizing in camping gear was necessary if I was to continue my outdoor passion.
To make this a short story, I simply purchased the Litefighter 1 person tent after watching your tent reviews. As I write this I have yet to try it out but later in June I will be taking it out to a remote location on a photo road trip. I just wanted to say thank you for posting very relevant content. As well, as taking us, the viewer with you.
    Strong work, Strength and Honor🤠

that random chocolate bar is hilarious! i instantly knew what that was when you showed the picture on the front. i play the game "Escape From Tarkov" which is a pretty popular worldwide game made by Russians and that Alenka chocolate bar is in that game so thats how i recognized it.

Same, I know it from Tarkov. You may be able to find an eastern-European market somewhere near you that has them in stock. I found some at one near me here in Utah, and they're actually pretty good chocolate.

You should do another US military over night and bring poggy bait for meals. When I was in the army I always brought extra food with me when on field exercises. Set up a poll so vets can list things they brought to the field.

One: I appreciate the military gear review. I find it interesting how the various countries take care of the troops. Years ago we had what was called Army/Navy stores and I got a lot of good gear there. Also helped I was a military brat so hit the PX. So when I went camping I had the gear, the same gear that the troops had at the time.
Your sterno history was interesting... and true. I'm sure you know todays MRE's use a bag that you drop a pouch of "something" and add water and you get a half a**ed heat source. They really don't work. I've had better success with hot coals.
As far as politics go... When I'm at work at the corner store I have to be apolitical. But my own personal thoughts are you can't trust them. Say one thing to get elected do something else to get the job done. And they don't even do that.
Anyways, keep putting up vids like this and don't apologize for it. I subscribed and like for a reason. I'm still here. You be you and keep doing what you do.

Howdy Luke. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. You know - there is a well established connection between your coffee, your esophageal sphincter and heartburn. You need that stomach acid strong enough to dissolve bone, but you also need that gut valve of yours to shut nice and tight...especially when you lay down to rest. All the best from Scandinavia. Ohh, by the way. There is a massive grayzone of "almost, but not quite" Russian surplus floating around. Its often quite difficult to determine what’s legit and what’s paramilitary stuff, that in some cases even makes its way into the armed forces.

When I bought my house, I had to do alot of lawn work. The previous owner let the property grow wild in some spots. I saw my share of black snakes in the tall grass. The areas that were too rough to do with the tractor, I did with a gas trimmer. I ended chopping up a quite a few, too.

Believe the translation from that Russian MRE roughly translates to doggy bag. That was food carried by the K9 handler for his four-legged partner. Excellent description of the crackers taking on the smell of the wet cardboard. Mentally able to smell and taste it vicariously through your words.

Great episode! This my favorite way to camp...almost cowboy style. The Russian MRE looked somewhat disgusting, even worst than the meals I ingested on deployments. I would often pack meals and snacks from home. My favorite gear is military surplus and I still use gear from my active duty days, 1965 to 1988.

Luke👍👍nicely done. Lone Wolf mountain is a cool place to escape the BS and do some camping and gear reviews no matter where it's from. I think the gear you used was more about function and less about flattery as it seemed to work just as designed. Was it lightweight, ergonomic and pretty...No, but it did the job ask of it. Now, that military surplus meal pack is a different story as it had some issues. Lucky you made it all night without issues of your own😉 On the bright side, this was a good camp in all fairness with some stellar scenery. Great video, well filmed, thanks for the trip. See ya next time. Enjoy!

Hi Luke ! We have bern watching bout 3 years. Think your gear review show is really cool. Its pretty hard to outdoor camp in Alaska. All though we built, my brother our friend and myself built a tree house and put a small potbelly wood stove in. I did stay in it at bout -35 degrees several nights in the winter. It was actually pretty cool. Pun intended. I was going to mention there are many highways thru out the US that are not super highways. In most states. These paved roads are way cool and have many Scenic areas, Parks and other cool rec. Areas to enjoy. These are what many camper, travelers and the like mostly travel. They are way cool. Check fot them. Keep up helping us all. Thank You Luke and Family. Be Blessed..

Tip: Some Russian gear is still available through Wisconsin company/ importer Russian Cold Camo, obviously it's logistically difficult if not impossible to get some things now, but they have uniforms, packs, and other items while they last or get more. Ebay like you mentioned is really the only other option to get that gear if one's looking for it. For other EU Surplus stuff, I highly recommend the retailer Varusteleka, and some other sites like Sportsman's Guide have some good legit surplus (but obviously vet the kit as that site also unfortunately retails a small amount of knockoff stuff too).
I've always been curious about the IRP's, but overall they seem pretty gnarly (and I love Pate and other oddball dishes) compared to most other MRE types from EU and USA/ Canada.
Nice merch shop! "Taster's Nasty" shirt when? Hahahahaha ;D

As much as I love camping, I haven't mastered the art of camping alone. Just something about the thought of critters finding me when I'm sleeping that makes me nervous. How do you get over it? I'm thinking of taking up bikepacking and I'll need to conquer my fears.
Another great video. Thanks for sharing.

just start lightly... go out for a walk in the evening or dusk, then in the night, stay for few hours at night somewhere close etc... give it time

Look up the areas you're going to camp in and educate yourself on wildlife, and plantlife too, a plant can be more dangerous than a little bug if you don't know. I've camped with thousands of little critters all around me and they don't bother me because I know what to expect from each one, and how to avoid anything I don't want to happen. I'm much more concerned about the human encounters I've had while camping, than wild things getting me, remember that wild animals and critters are predictable, if you educate yourself about what to expect you can navigate their behavior and your own precautions, like using bug repellants, properly storing food, making your presence known to the wildlife, and other things to stay safe. It's not like that with people, you can have defenses but people trick people and are more subtle about their intentions.

It would have been hilarious if the rations gave you massive Hershey Squirts! Now THAT would have been great. At least for us. No heartburn. Assburn!

I remember that debris shelter video & was wondering if you were going to the same location when I saw the title. Nice story about the racer. I got a good laugh about the probably potted mest. I enjoyed your approach to water. I just did a couple of videos on water to get ready for one of my 4H meetings. Thanks for always getting out there & showing the way Luke!

Kudos to you for exercising your free speech and showing whatever you want to show on your videos (within the law of course). It's people like you who will help us regain our free speech. BTW, I don't talk politics either. I just them politicians do what they want to do.

I enjoy your videos, and what i like of you is that you show your neutrality of things. My topic of this video is camping and camping products review ,but I do respect others peoples opinions.
