  • How To Catch Ghost Shrimp:
For those of you that fish in the Area, or anywhere on the west coast, ghost shrimp can be one of the top baits for a variety of fish. From surfperch and striped bass in the surf to giant 100 pound sturgeon in the rivers, the possibilities are endless with a fresh ghost shrimp as your bait. Rather than buying ghost shrimp, catching them yourself can be infinitely more rewarding. In this video, I show what to look for, where to look, and how to catch them. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the videos. I'm going to try and build a pump with a 3"-4" diameter. Put the ones with eggs back and let them grow; catch today, catch tomorrow.

we call them nippers here in Australia. I keep them live by changing the water regularly so bring a couple of empty bottles and I use a foam esky eg ice box plastic no good and a portable air pump happy fishing days

you should help this shrimps to be rescued because they have a serious problem
They have a parasitic isopods in their gills
    (How can you tell?)
Well if you see a large lump on its side and had a pinkish color. Meaning it had a parasite in there gills buried in the shrimp’s skin

once upon a time, i was at a Beach on south Padre Island. i noticed small breathing holes that seemed to appear in the sand after the tide had receded. i decided that i wanted to know What caused these holes in the sand. So, i grabbed my plastic shovel and pail and i began to dig. A couple of times i got really close to the creature. I knew this because my shovel would scrape against it, which only gave me more motivation. The creature Kept digging deeper. when i finally exposed a glimpse of the thing; i was so absolutely frightened that i screamed and ran away. what i saw was so unexpected and Startling. At the time and until now, i had no idea what i saw. it was definitely a crustacean, it was all white; i saw it's head and it's front 4 legs wiggling in the air. it was a horrible sight. i was hoping for a clam or something. After coming across a youtube video about catching Ghost Shrimp, i knew right then that that is exactly what i had dug up that one day. A distant memory brought back to life.

Hey so these shrimps are currently in risk. The reason why is that there are parasitic isopods that were introduced into the us from China and they have been using the shrimp as host. There quite easy to remove. Gently lift up the gills and there might be one. So please limit using these magnificent creatures as bait!
